• Overhauling the inbox - 26 July 2026

  Note from the developer: It has taken a while putting this post into words. This is a large pivot for Func Key, and I know not everyone is going to be on board. All I ask is that you give it a fair shot, you might find you like it!The inbox is the cornerstone of any Func Key run. It’s where you pick your next round and decide when you’re ready for the challenge. The unique design lets you choose how many rounds you need before the boss. As a forcing function, expenses were created to encourage going for the challenge as early as you were ready.The inbox succeeded in being unique, but was divisive and confusing. Many new players would either fail too fast, or do every sponsor possible, turning runs into a slog and guaranteeing failure later on. It also created an illusion of choice: 90% of the time you pick the lowest sponsor. The others will be there the next round if you still want the…

  General:Adds optional opt-in telemetry to help balance the game. After each round, high level run information such as the score per word, keys owned, and inbox choices are uploaded. This helps balance the items in the game and the difficulty curve. You can learn more about what is collected here.Bugs:Fixed an issue where pressing "Escape" in the dictionary edit screen closed the settings menu behind the dictionary dialog.

  Thank you to the nearly 10,000 people who played the Func Key Demo during Steam Next Fest! The support and feedback from you all has been unbelievable. I'm so grateful to everyone who gave the game a shot, I hope you enjoyed it :) And there's so much more still to come!This patch is the culmination of 150 Google Form responses, 90 bug reports, and tons of discussions in the Discord and Steam Forum.
