- HELLO HACKER 2 is in Steam Next Fest — play the demo - 1 October 2026
We're in Steam Next Fest! 🟢 HELLO HACKER 2: Project Daybreak is taking part in Steam Next Fest this October, and the free demo is available right now. Next Fest is the week to try upcoming games and send the devs your feedback — so please play it, break it, and tell us everything. Dates: Steam Next Fest — October 19-26, 2026. The demo stays up through the festival. What's in the demo The demo is the entire Prologue — a few hours of hacking inside a simulated desktop OS. You are Null. An encrypted dead drop lands on your machine, and from there you work the whole chain with real tools: A full terminal — every command is real (nmap, ssh, grep, curl, decrypt, and more) Map a network and read what you're not supposed to see A hands-on web-exploit foothold — spot the flaw, get past the login, reach the files Escalate your access, cover your tracks, and keep your head down Meet AURORA — an i…
- Demo Update — A New Opening - 12 September 2026
The demo now opens the way it was always meant to. Start a new game and you land in a short cinematic sequence before you ever touch the desktop: who Meridian are, what happened to Nightfall, and the transmission that puts you on the job. Relay introduces himself properly this time — he's the one who'll be watching your back for the rest of it. New A full cinematic opening — the story, the walk-in, and two incoming transmissions Subtitles on by default, with a readable transcript Skip controls at every stage, including a single Skip all straight to the desktop Relay now cuts in with a nudge when you're about to get yourself caught Fixed The in-game browser renders its pages properly again Terminal: copy and paste, a visible cursor, and commands that wrap across lines Text in the browser, scanner and terminal can be selected and copied Commands reject bad arguments instead of quietly ign…
- The Official Trailer is here - 10 September 2026
The Official Trailer is here Two minutes, and for the first time it explains what this is actually about. What you're looking at Every desktop shot in this trailer is real footage from a live build. The terminal is a real terminal. The nmap output is what the game prints. The SQL injection at 1:22 is the actual foothold in the Prologue — you find the legacy login yourself, you read the page source, you spot the unsanitised query, and you write the payload. There is no minigame standing in for it. The first thirty seconds are the part that has never been shown. HELLO HACKER 2 picks up after the first game, and it needed to explain that history to people who never played it, so the trailer opens on Project Nightfall: what it collected, what it computed, and what "phase three" turned out to mean. Those shots were built for this. The contact graph, the subject index, the relay bank and the…
- The Project Daybreak Demo Is Live - 4 August 2026
THE DEMO IS LIVE "They said they archived Project Daybreak. They buried the name next to Nightfall and called it dead. It isn't. It never was. We've set you up with a way in — a contractor cover, a relayed inbox, a foothold on their network. The rest is on you, Null. Get in quiet. Get out quieter. And whatever you do… don't let it see you." — [email protected] HACK A MEGACORP. FOR REAL. FOR FREE. The free demo for HELLO HACKER 2: PROJECT DAYBREAK is out now — and it's the game's complete Prologue, start to finish. No minigames. No "press X to breach." You sit down at a simulated Linux desktop, open a real terminal, and do the work — with tools that behave like the ones security professionals actually use. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO Decrypt a dead drop and trace a buried codename to its source. Map the network with nmap — and learn why stealth scans exist, because loud recon gets you notice…
- GO DARK — The Project Daybreak Demo Arrives Soon - 24 July 2026
// INCOMING TRANSMISSION — SOURCE: [email protected] "Meridian says they shut Project Daybreak down. They buried the name next to Nightfall and called it archived. It isn't. It never was. We set you up with a way in — a contractor cover, a relayed inbox, a foothold on their network. The rest is on you, Null. Get in quiet. Get out quieter. And whatever you do… don't let it see you." HELLO HACKER 2: PROJECT DAYBREAK — THE FREE DEMO ARRIVES SOON You are Null. A dead-drop lands in an inbox that was never supposed to reach you, and by the time you've decrypted it you're already inside a conspiracy that a trillion-dollar company has spent a year pretending is dead. This is a hacking game for people who actually want to hack. No minigames. No "press X to breach." You sit down at a simulated desktop, open a real terminal, and do the work — with tools that behave like the ones security professio…
- Dev Update #1 — What We're Building and Where We're At - 22 April 2026
Dev Update #1 — What We're Building and Where We're At Hey everyone — thanks for wishlisting Project Daybreak. Whether you found us through Hello Hacker or stumbled on the store page, I appreciate you being here this early. I want to use these updates to be straight with you about what the game is, how it's being built, and what the road to launch actually looks like. No hype, no fake screenshots of features that don't exist. Just honest progress. So here's where things stand. What exists right now The foundation of the desktop OS shell is running. You can open windows, drag them around, minimize and maximize them, and switch between applications. There's a working terminal with filesystem navigation, a notebook, and an email client. Save/load works with checksum-verified tamper detection (which feels appropriate for a hacking game). The game is built in Rust using the Iced GUI framewor…
