- (Beta) Patch 0.26: Tetrarchy, Christianization, Reconquest, Thracia & 800 AD - 22 September 2026
Historical Narrative 476 - 800 AD With 0.26, I’ve settled on the scope of the game’s historical narrative. The Western Empire’s narrative ends in 476 AD, but choosing an endpoint for the Eastern Empire took more thought. Extending it all the way to 1453 AD would cover too much history to offer meaningful, balanced gameplay. I originally planned to end around 700 AD, but have now decided on 800 AD. Why 800 AD? Besides being a nice round number, it marks the year Charlemagne was crowned "Emperor of the Romans", which laid the groundwork for what would later become the Holy Roman Empire. That feels like a fitting endpoint for our narrative centered on classical Rome. The extra century also gives the gameplay surrounding the rise of Islam and the Arab conquests more room to develop. (The last narrative event: the coronation of Charlemagne) In this patch, I have added historical events from…

Hi, I am please to present Patch 0.24. This patch reworks Army and Warfare, expand Peace Treaty, reworks Autonomy, balances Governing Cost/Capacity, adds Disaster UI and improves map visual. It's been on beta for a few days and feedback is positive - I am now releasing it to stable. - Patch 0.23: Frontier Settlement, Family and Affairs, Map, Music, Modding - 11 September 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.23 - our first post early access content patch. This patch expands the frontier, introduces new relationships for governors, improves the map, adds music, improves balancing, adds modding API and fixes bugs. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback - especially about balancing. Those insights are very helpful for me to improve the game. - (Beta) Patch 0.23: Frontier Settlement, Family, Affairs and Map And Music - 9 September 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.23. This patch expands the frontier, introduces new relationships for governors, and improves the map. The patch is currently on the "beta" branch on Steam - you can switch to that branch to give it a try. Your save file should be compatible - but it's always a good idea to make a backup. Frontier Settlements New lands can now be settled beyond the frontiers of Britannia, Germania, Raetia, Noricum, Pannonia, Dacia, Moesia, Mauretania, and Aegyptus. Settleable land is highlighted on the map. A tile must border one of your core tiles to be settled. Settling costs 1 Mandate and has a five-year cooldown. New settlements begin with 1 Infrastructure, 1 Production, and 1 Population and automatically become core tiles. Tiles you settle do not count toward Legacy Points. Tiles settled by other provinces do count once you annex and core them. To simulate the gr…
- Patch 0.22.115: Hotfix - 9 September 2026
Hi, Patch 0.22.115 is now available on Steam - this hotfix patch addresses some of the issues from Early Access launch of the game. Thank you to everyone who reported bugs and I apologize for any inconvenience. Trade agreements now correctly check the other province's attitude toward us. The tutorial trade objective now recognizes any active trade and no longer. Fix a bug where tutorial trade object is blocked by Historical negative attitude. Tiles & Upgrades window now refresh correctly, preventing building slot limits from being bypassed. The Rebirth province selector now receives focus automatically when opened. Added the “Pause when the game window loses focus” setting. It is enabled by default and can be changed in Settings. The game no longer runs silently in the background - this is a bug inherited from CivIdle code, where running in the background is preferred. It makes less sen…
- Restitutor Is Available in Early Access! - 8 September 2026
Today is the day! After a year and a half of development and months of playtesting, Restitutor: Empire Restored is now in Early Access. Thank you to everyone who tested the game, reported bugs, and shared feedback along the way. If you're hearing about it for the first time, here's a little more about the game to help you decide whether it's for you. What Restitutor Is Restitutor is a historical incremental grand strategy game set in the Roman Empire. The core gameplay takes inspiration from grand strategy games, but with a twist: each run earns you legacy points that make you stronger in your next run, adding long-term progression to the strategic gameplay. Here are a few other things that set it apart: No micromanagement: You focus on high-level decisions. Individual army movements are abstracted away, and wars are resolved through dice rolls influenced by your stats. A different play…
- Patch Notes: 0.22 - 7 September 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.22. This patch adds some balancing changes before the early access release. Balancing Changes Making a tile our core now adds 10% of the base cost per core made, replacing the previous compounded increase. The Warmonger Penalty now adds 10% of the base war-score cost per war started, replacing the previous compounded increase. Research costs now add 15% of the base cost for each technology already researched. Each province that has researched the same technology reduces its cost by 1%. Mechanic Changes Personal best bonus when rebirth: each annexed and cored tile beyond your previous best grants 1 additional Legacy Point. Expanded family tree bonus: this currently does not have gameplay changes but enables future expansion. Since this needs to migrate data, I'd rather do it before the release Historical attitude: new runs now begin with longer-lasting…
- Patch 0.21: Noricum, Pannonia and Great Works - 4 September 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.21. This patch adds Noricum and Pannonia as playable provinces, introduces Great Works across the Roman world and brings several map, balance, and quality-of-life improvements. This should be the last content patch before Early Access. I will be focusing more on bugfixes and polishing. Raetia, Noricum and Pannonia will receive more events when "Settle New Tiles" mechanic lands (after the early access release) Now Playable: Noricum Noricum begins among the Alpine passes and the upper Danube, with a campaign shaped by frontier defense, Roman roads, and the struggle to preserve provincial life as imperial authority recedes. Noricum receives 10 historical events following the Severan road program, frontier raids and reforms, the rise of Christianity, Alaric's arrival, and the evacuation of Roman Noricum. Its 6 missions offer several paths for expansion: B…

A 20% launch discount will be available for the first two weeks. It will also join the "Presented By Fish Pond Collection," where owners of my other games can receive an additional 20% discount. I am also pleased to present Patch 0.20. This patch adds Raetia as a new playable province, introduces heir selection and a new defensive-war option, and brings several tutorial, balance, and quality-of-life improvements. Now Playable: Raetia Raetia is now available for new runs via Rebirth. This is a bit ahead of the schedule: originally it is planned as a post-release content. This is because the Raetia's missions are planned to include "Settle New Tiles" mechanic, which is scheduled after the release. But after some thinking, I've decided that I should r…

Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.19. This patch improves the tutorial, adds keyboard shortcuts, and brings several quality-of-life improvements. Improved Tutorial The tutorial now provides more guidance throughout the early game: Learn how to adjust game speed during a war. Adopt a social class agenda and understand its effects on influence and loyalty. Use missions to guide our restoration and choose mission rewards. War and peace instructions have been clarified, including when to sign a peace treaty. To make the tutorial experience smoother, certain campaign events are now available until 220 A.D., rather than ending in 200 A.D. The first Lugdunensis mission also offers more than one options. Quality of Life Keyboard shortcuts are now available and can be viewed, rebound, or reset from the Shortcuts tab in Settings. Steam players can enter or exit fullscreen mode from Settings. St…
- Patch 0.18: Britannia, Divorce and Steam Workshop - 27 August 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.18. This patch introduces a new playable province, divorce mechanic, and brings Steam Workshop mod support. Restitutor will launch in Early Access on September 8, 2026, priced at $5.99 / €5.99 / CN¥26.00. A 20% launch discount will be available for the first two weeks. It will also join the "Presented By Fish Pond Collection," where owners of my other games can receive an additional 20% discount. Now Playable: Britannia Britannia is now available as a playable province. Its campaign follows the province through the late Roman period, from Septimius Severus at Eboracum in 208 A.D. to the withdrawal of Constantine's forces in 407 A.D. The missions for Britannia are focused across the channel: they first open campaigns against Germania, Belgica, or Lugdunensis, followed by establishing a bridgehead in Gaul, taking Belgica as a client, and weakening Lugdu…
- Patch 0.17: Map Expansion + macOS Support - 26 August 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.17. As early access approaches, I am keeping patches smaller and more frequent to avoid releasing one giant patch before launch and potentially breaking everything. I have also updated our roadmap. Terrain Expansions I have added terrain information to all tiles. Previously, it was only available for Roman Empire tiles. This does not affect gameplay at the moment, but it will make future content expansions easier. I decided to add it now because migrating the data later could be risky, and I would rather do it before release. I have also added an Arid terrain type, which is not currently used. The expanded map requires more rendering work, and I noticed some stuttering when zooming out. I spent some time optimizing the rendering code by adding viewport culling and reducing draw calls. After these optimizations, performance should be roughly back to pr…
- Patch 0.16: Relocate Capital + New Missions/Events - 23 August 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.16. As we are approaching early access, I am keeping the patch smaller and more frequent to avoid dropping a giant patch before release and break everything. Capital Relocation A new Relocate Capital action lets you move the provincial capital to another core tile of your province: Relocation requires the target tile to be your core and at peace, costs 1 Capital Relocation Point, and cannot be performed again for 24 months. Moving the court unsettles the province: -10 Stability for 24 months. Capital Relocation Point has been added as a possible Restoration Bonus. It can also be acquired via events and missions. New Missions and Achievements Two new missions are available to any province: A Province Transformed - Your province now commands twice the territory it once held, and new cities and peoples look to the governor's seat for order. Plan a new pr…

New Missions and Achievements Three new grand missions are available for late-game campaigns, replacing the old Incorporation of Hispania mission: The Western Roman Empire Restored - Annex and core every province of the Wester…
- Patch 0.14: Mauretania and Africa - 16 August 2026
Hi, I am pleased to present Patch 0.14 - the last content patch before Early Access release. This patch adds two new playable provinces: Mauretania and Africa, each with its own historical narrative, missions, and Provincial Spirits, with campaigns built around the Strait of Gibraltar, the wealth of Carthage, the African grain trade, and the struggle for control of the western Mediterranean. I have also added Steam achievements in this patch. After this patch, I am focused on playtesting, balancing, polishing rough edges, and improving performance. The demo build is also updated - with Lugdunensis, Africa, Italia + one rotating province available for free. Give it a try and report bugs - I appreciate the help! The free demo will remain available after early access, with Lugdunensis + one rotating province available to try out for free. Two New Playable Provinces Mauretania and Africa ar…

I am also pleased to present Patch 0.13, bringing Restitutor int…
- Patch 0.12: 4 New Provinces, Heresies, Tolerance, and Ecumenical Councils - 6 August 2026
I am pleased to present Patch 0.12, expanding Restitutor into Germania and Hispania while bringing the religious disputes of Late Antiquity into the game. Germania, Tarraconensis, Lusitania, and Baetica are now playable, each with unique Provincial Spirits and dedicated events. Christian provinces must now contend with heresies, doctrinal conflict, and seven Ecumenical Councils stretching from Nicaea in 325 A.D. to Nicaea in 787 A.D. This update also reworks Cultural and Religious Cohesion, introduces tolerated cultures and religions. Here's an updated roadmap. As we are approaching Early Access release date, I will be sharing an exact release date and pricing soon. Four New Playable Provinces Germania, Tarraconensis, Lusitania, and Baetica are now available for new runs and Rebirth, replacing Aquitania, Narbonensis and Belgica in the current free demo province rota. Each new province h…
