Going forward, we will review everything more carefully during production to prevent the same issue from occurring again.
- 2.0 Update!!! - 14 August 2026
This update goes beyond adding new features. We focused on refining the game across the board so that the AI and Organic modes offer genuinely different experiences, read more naturally, and let you continue playing more reliably. 【Major Updates】 Stronger Differences Between AI and Organic Modes • Added mode-specific dialogue and parody sequences, and removed older lines whose differences were too slight to be meaningful. • Selected scenes cut during editing that better reveal the characters and their relationships have been restored as uncut scenes. Major Story and Character Presentation Improvements • Improved the tutorials, dialogue, and scene flow in the opening chapters, Chapters 0–7. • Refined dialogue, debates, relationship developments, and parts of the endings from Chapter 8 onward in both the AI and Organic routes. • Added and revised character expressions and sprites to bette…

Making AI and Organic Feel Different “I changed modes, but only the pictures are different. I can’t really feel what changed in the content.” We received feedback that the difference between AI and Organic was hard to feel. The earlier version already had small differences in the things Jua used. In Organic she drank a mysterious green drink, while AI gave her BlueBull. But that alone was not enough reason to check the other mode too. https://moeater.com/assets/devlog/ep15-mode-drink-comparison.png We Had AI Write the AI Mode Text We tried exactly what the name suggests: we had AI write the text for AI mode. The writer and another person decided where it should go and what the scene needed to do, then we asked AI to write one side within those boundaries. We thought that having a different writer and editor would naturally give the two versions a different flavor. The result was not wha…

Making the Ai-Koi Radio You said we only had to write the story... When we first asked for the main story, we said, “Just write a story that fits the themes we decided on.” But in the end, the writer had to rebuild Jua, draw art for the main story, and keep bringing in new ideas. At some point, the writer muttered sadly, “You said I only had to write a story that fit the themes. Now I have to draw things and come up with new ideas too...” Even while complaining, they came back with another idea: an Ai and Koi radio segment would be nice. For all the grumbling, I guess they really do care about the project. Why a Radio Show? The direct reason we came up with the idea of adding a radio segment as an extra part was the feedback about Ai and Koi. A lot of people said it was a shame we had not shown enough of the two of them in the main story. While reading that feedback, I thought of the vo…

EP 13 — Why We Rewrote EULA After the Demo The first version of EULA was much shorter than it is now. It was something we made mostly for ourselves, filling it with whatever we wanted to make. At the time, we actually liked the full game's story quite a bit among ourselves. But it was the kind of thing people call ‘boring and pretentious.’ It felt like someone excitedly rambling about whatever they wanted to say. It had plenty of stylish lines and themes, but the story itself was hard for readers to follow. We made the demo for the same reason. Like the full game, it was closer to the result of throwing in whatever we wanted to make. We joked around, pushed the direction too far, and kept adding things that made us ask, ‘Can we do this too?’ But when the demo drew more attention than we expected, we started to worry. We could not just hand people who came because they were looking forwa…

- Thank You for the Official Launch of EULA - 10 July 2026
Sorry it took us so long. And thank you for waiting! To the precious souls who have been waiting since the dawn of time, when dinosaurs were still knapping stone tools; to the curiosity- and courage-filled adventurers who played the demo; and even to the infinitely benevolent video creators who graciously shared their gloriously scuffed gameplay footage with the world: To those meeting us for the first time through this notice, and those meeting us for the first time through the PV—welcome! *EULA* is a visual novel made by developers who received far more anticipation than this little game had any right to inspire—and consequently found themselves bursting with excitement, pressure, and responsibility. So naturally, they threw out the game they had already finished, then spent roughly one month crashing and clattering their way through development while chanting, “My body is made of ene…

Honestly, I did not expect it to get this much attention. There are countless games pouring out into the world, and with AI images standing so openly at the front, I thought people might just see it as AI slop and move on.It is not like the human-drawn art in Organic mode was incredibly beautiful either. We talked about spreading it around as much as we could, and if it still got buried, then maybe that was just how it would go. Even so, it would be nice if at least a few people looked at it.But once it was actually out, quite a lot of people did look at it.And many of the reactions were things I had not expected.AI ModeWhat surprised me most was how much less resistance there was toward the AI images than I had expected. That does not mean nobody felt uncomfortable. That reaction was expected, and it is not a feeling unfamiliar to me either. Sometimes the very sight of AI art catches in y…

It probably would have been better to let this pass without being the first to bring it up.There is a saying that if you stay quiet, you avoid at least half the trouble. But when a poor, tiny game team like ours keeps making games, you also come to understand why the possibility of making art faster and cheaper can feel attractive. At the same time, all of us on the team are otaku, and it was hard to casually look away while the artists who introduced me to worlds I loved were hurting inside that change. That in-between position was exactly why I did not want to leave this as just another opinion. Rather than forcing it into a neat yes or no, I wanted to leave behind a game that could give creators a reason to talk, even once, about how far to accept AI and what they still wanted to protect. That is also why we split human-drawn art and AI output apart, and why the same scene appears as t…
- Devlog Ep10 - 28 May 2026
AI has already changed the landscape. Whether we like it or not, people are now taking in that change in very different ways. My sympathy leans more toward creators. If I love a work enough, I buy a full set of the original-language books and then buy the ebook version too, just so I can keep it with me. When a new chapter goes up, I read it right away. If there is a creator I really like, I follow them so I can watch or listen as soon as a new work or upload appears. That is partly affection for the work itself, and partly a wish that my support might help the artist, even a little.Even so, I do not think that feeling is the whole answer. My position is also just one position among many. Clashing Positions Some people talk about AI as a new kind of opportunity. Work they might have given up on because of time or manpower can now be attempted much faster, and even alone they can push mu…

There are games I love, and games I learned a lot from. The Stanley Parable. Doki Doki Literature Club. Totono. They are all works I truly love and respect. Games that are aware of themselves as games, and look directly at the player. As a metafiction nerd, I always wanted to make something like that someday. I like games as play, of course. But as a creator, I especially like games that feel like playing together with the player, then leave room to talk afterward. https://moeater.com/assets/devlog/ep09-scene-1_en.png Not a Smaller Version of the Full Game I love the demo for The Stanley Parable. It was a completely separate work from the main game, and it treated the very format of a demo metatextually. I wasn't trying to copy that approach exactly, but I was strongly influenced by the way it told its story. I wanted EULA's demo to work that way too. Like The Stanley Parable showed, I…
