- Improving the Room Host Experience with NEW Admin Tools - 18 January 2025
🛡️We recently launched a new suite of room options for hosts to control what features users have access to in their rooms! To start off, we added the following options into the room settings menu: Microphone Settings Drawing Visibility Avatar Name Visibility Avatar Movement Spawning Toys Additionally, the character limits for room titles and descriptions have increased in the update! You will find these features under the newly designed Host My Room page.

- Bigscreen Beyond is NOW SHIPPING! - 7 September 2023
We’ve officially started shipping Beyonds to customers! Shipments go out daily and are currently going to customers in the United States with international shipments beginning in mid to late Q4. Since launching in February, demand was stronger than expected and we’ve got an overwhelming amount of headsets to build! We’ve spent the past few months ramping up production in order to ship tens of thousands of units in the coming months ahead. Customization in LA To accomplish this, we’re hiring more engineering and production staff for our Los Angeles, Calif. factory. We handle critical components of headset manufacturing in-house such as the custom-fit elements and quality control. Our team is also visiting our overseas manufacturing partners in China to ensure production goes smoothly. - The Push to Talk feature comes to PCVR - 19 July 2023
The latest Bigscreen update adds in support for using push to talk on PCVR headsets. Previously this was only available on standalone Quest headsets. The button to use for push to talk when enabled is B or Y equivalents for most controllers and with controllers primarily using a touchpad, the bottom quadrant. Also in this update, we added two new options into the Bigscreen settings menu: Push to mute - similar to push to talk but the behavior is inverted. Hide avatar arms - this hides your avatar arms in only your point of view. This option is at the bottom of Settings > Visuals & Lighting. If you are actively using any custom bindings with your controllers, you may need to configure in the new action called mic_toggle in order for push to talk to work with your custom bigscreen bindings.

Over the past few years, we have been continuously investing in research & development in VR optics for current and next-generation VR devices. Thanks to improvements to our optical elements, coatings, canting, and manufacturing processes, we are excited to announce several key optics breakthroughs that have improved field of view (FOV) and optical performance. The new technology has been successfully implemented in production, and Beyond remains on track for a Q3 ship date for the first wave of customers in the United States. Every Beyond customer will receive the following improvements, including people who preordered in the past few months. Let’s get into the details. - New Laying Tilt feature - 27 April 2023
This release adds a laying tilt feature on all platforms for cases of using Bigscreen while laying in bed. This option will allow you to tilt your virtual view downwards while laying face-upward. It will make you appear as if you are sitting up straight. The new setting can be found in the Bigscreen menu under Settings > Visuals & Lighting > Laying tilt

- Audio streaming fixes for Windows 11 + Compact Tablet feature - 21 March 2023
This release addresses issues with Windows 11 not routing processes to the Bigscreen Audio Stream driver. On Windows 11, using the "Refresh Audio" option should now route app audio to Bigscreen for desktop streaming. Also includes: - New feature: Compact Tablet - located in the visual settings which downsizes the Bigscreen menu. - Address dynamic range of desktop streams so PCVR users viewing a host's desktop should see true black colors. - Changes control strip positioning to improve ergonomics of the Bigscreen tablet menu. - Excludes running Virtual Desktop processes from being routed to the Bigscreen audio driver. Fixes problems with the Bigscreen app going mute while streaming SteamVR to Quest devices.

We're excited to launch the Realtime Lighting Update! Today’s update improves visual fidelity & immersion on Meta Quest and PCVR headsets with our new Dynamic Screen Lighting 3.0 engine. We overhauled dynamic screen lighting with new graphics techniques and a lot of fine-tuning. Our latest lighting engine also adds support for real-time specular reflections. - Changes to the Light Dimmer feature - 24 October 2022
This update removes the light dimmer knob (or dial) in the environments and adds a UI slider for it in the settings page under "Visuals & Lighting". The light dimming is now controlled through the Bigscreen menu instead.
- Recent fix for the HP Reverb G2 performance issue - 24 August 2022
This patch addresses the Reverb G2 GPU performance problem users have experienced since the update a few weeks ago. Also fixes a problem with the supersampling button in the graphics page being disabled in a certain case it should not be.
- Changes to the Code of Conduct - 12 August 2022
This update brings new changes to the code of conduct within the app. Changes the Bigscreen Code of Conduct page. Adds a Code of Conduct option in the settings menu. Adds Code of Conduct sign in the lobby and other lobby environment changes. 🍿 To view the updated code of conduct, head into the Settings page in the Bigscreen menu and tap Code of Conduct on the left hand side.
- Update for fixes and improvements to Steam controller inputs. - 9 August 2022
An update has gone out that changes the following: Changes the input mapping for Index controllers. Improvements to Vive and Windows Mixed Reality controller inputs. More specifically with Index, the input scheme is properly mapped out to be consistent with other VR controllers such as Quest: The B Button is now used for right-clicking on Desktop. The trigger no longer has to be fully depressed when clicking on menu items or the desktop. The trackpad can now only scroll up and down, and has been tuned to prevent accidental scrolling when the user rests their thumb. Opening the menu is now assigned to either trackpad click or analog stick click. Changing seats is now accomplished by pressing up on the analog stick. - Changes to the Desktop Screensharing Bitrates - 19 July 2022
A couple months ago, we reduced the bitrates of our desktop screensharing feature due to significant bandwidth costs. Thanks to new developments, we have been able to manage our server costs and therefore with this recent update, we're passing this on to our users with increased bitrate quality again for free! In the future, we plan to have even higher bitrate quality settings with premium plans. With this change, the max bitrate option when screensharing your desktop to others is now 5Mbps!

A few months ago we've fully overhauled streaming in Bigscreen with Dedicated Servers and a new low-latency Remote Desktop client. We dramatically increased video/audio quality, latency, and stability. Our new Remote Desktop client has a simple installer, making it easier to use a Windows PC wirelessly on the Meta Quest.
