- Settlers of Orion Beta Testing Update - 6 November 2018
Hey all, I've had better than anticipated response to the beta testing for Settlers of Orion (SOO). But have decided to increase the number of beta testers. This means that All those who have already emailed me at [email protected] will be part of the beta testing! There is no need to email me back. I am currently working on the beta testing manual that will outline the beta testing, and also explains how to play the game. It's about 80% done and I expect to have it done in the next day or two. Once it's done I will be setting up SOO on steam and will do a bit of testing to make sure its all working correctly. Once that is done, I will make the testers manual (pdf) available to all the testers and will then close out accepting anymore testers. That means that there is still time to request to be a beta tester for SOO. I expect that by sometime next week I will stop accepting r…
- Looking For Beta Testers! - 30 October 2018
I am currently in the final stages of alpha testing on my next game, Settlers of Orion. It's basically a board tile type game similiar to Settlers of Catan but with a space theme. I should have the game up on steam in the next 30 days and I am looking for a handful of players to do some beta testing for me. I will mostly be looking for feedback on the game mechanics, and of course any bugs that may come up. Those that are selected will be allowed to keep their steam key for the game after it is released. If you are interested please email me at [email protected]. Put SOO beta testing in the subject line. If selected, you will be sent a steam key to the email address you contacted me with. Thanks in advance, Walter
- Patch Update Released - 29 October 2018
We just released patch 1.2.1.14. It fixed a bug where is certain situations would not allow players to attack the final enemies starbase even after defeating all the fleets in the star system. For those who ran into this issue and your currently saved last game was when you first encountered this issue, it will now allow you to attack the starbase. When you mouse over it, it will still show you that you still have fleets left to defeat. But if you target it and move your ship there, it should update those fleets as being defeated, allowing you to attack the starbase. However, if you left the star system and went into another one, and then viewed the star system view, when you go back into the original star system, you will have to defeat the enemy fleets again, as the info regarding the stat of the last galaxy you were in will have changed to the newer one. Thank you for your patience.
- Patch 1.1.2.13 released - 1 May 2018
This patch was mostly about balancing the resources found on planets. Prior to the patch, finding iron was very hard. And since it is the first metal that can be processed into repair armor, we made it MUCH more common to find. It can now be found on over half of the planets. You will only see the changes when starting a new game. Any saved game will have the older planet data. We also added a message when starting a new game using the Rogue Officers DLC that reminds players to upgrade their Transport Stat to increase the away team size, since entering your first star system always results in a 'Heavily Damaged Ship Encounter'. And this can be very difficult with an away team size of just 1.
- You can now View The SFARA Steam Leaderboard! - 19 April 2018
This latest patch (1.2.1.1.11) allows players to now see the top 10 Steam Scores for SFARA and also the scores around your score. This is done from the High Scores screen. When you are on the High Scores screen you will see three buttons at the top. The left one is to view your top 10 scores (the default), the middle is to view the Steam top 10 scores and the right one will show the 5 scores above yours and the 4 just below yours. Currently there are not a lot of scores in the high scores table. We have also pushed back to time table on the next three DLC content updates. To this point we have not received enough player created cave maps for the Rift Riders so it has been extended again until the end of May. We are still offering Steam Gift cards as outlined in the game, so please take some time to create some caves and email them to us. Perhaps your next steam game purchase will be on…
- Patch 1.2.1.10 is live. - 21 February 2018
Patch 1.2.1.10 This patch added some enhancements to the Officers DLC. There is now a GUI Icon over each discovered star system on the star map that lets you know if, you have a chance to find a heavily damaged ship, already found one, or must clear all hostiles before one will show up. Adjusted how officers decide to leave. Now only unassigned officers will leave, and it will always be the officer with the lowest loyalty. Each cycle (about 250 TU's), the game will check how many unassigned officers you have. If you have less than 10 unassigned officers, then none will leave. If you have 10 or more, then at least one will leave, and it can be as high as 4 depending of how many you have. The maximum number of total officers is still 100, but once you reach 100, then one will automatically leave making room for an additional officer to be found. If you have more than one officer with the…

- Patch Notes for patch Version 1.1.2.05 - 10 October 2017
Patch if finally here! What started out as a quick patch to fix a couple of issues turned out to be a fairly large content update. The big headliner is the ability to sort the device and bay modules with various criteria while on the edit fleet screen. Here are the details: Fixed the bug where the players smart bomb would not go to the next turret when the previous turret was destroyed. Added shield icons for both the enemy and the players ships when you mouse over them. This now displays a small shield icon with a timer showing how much time the shield has. This was done for the fighter squads and missile barrages too. But at this time missile barrages don’t launch with a shield like the fighter squads do. This will be part of the new Rogue Officers DLC. Also added shields to the ships in the players and enemy’s ships list so the player could easily tell which ships still have a shield…

Player now gets the appropriate Invalid Action sound, and the life form will not get picked up as the cargo is full.

- Patch 1.1.2.02 is now live. - 5 September 2017
Patch 1.1.2.02 is now life. It fixes several crashes that occured when capturing a ship during a battle or assigning a weapon enhancer device module to a ship. There were also several other minor issues that were fixed. There are two known issues that will be in the next patch update which should be in the next 24-48 hours. First issue is with capturing a bio life form while exploring a planet if it puts you over your fleet cargo space. It was just reported and will be in the next patch update which should be within 24 hours. The second issue is with a smart bomb not continuing to the next target when firing at a turret and the turret is destroyed. That too should be fixed in the next patch update.
