  • The end of the year and the Max Discount policy - 24 December 2016

Hello everyone! Good news: 2016 is (almost) over! As usual, at the end of the year Steam goes crazy on big sales and discounts, so I wanted to take this chance to explain how I will approach discount seasons from now on. I feel that on Steam there are a lot of niche/experimental games that (because of their very nature) struggle in terms of sales. They usually start at very reasonable prices but end up destroying their perceived value by embracing extremely high discount rates (60-80% OFF) for the sake of making more sales. While I understand why some devs would do this, I am personally not a fan of this approach. To me, the value of something I create has a higher importance than the profit I make out of it. This is enforced by the fact that - in the case of Memoir En Code: Reissue - the full retail price is only 4.99$. That's the price of one single coffee at Starbucks. Max Discount p…

  • Finally out! - 23 September 2016

The moment has finally arrived and it feels absolutely surreal. Memoir En Code: Reissue is now available and everyone can play it. It feels surreal because this project was born with the idea of exploring autobiography in games, and I was now able to release it in its new, darker, reincarnation. I feel incredibly weird about it because I never imagined that this game would then transform and take this unexpected turn. But I felt like I couldn't release it if it was not absolutely true to my life and my feelings. So there you go, the game is now more mature, someone would say that it's now more sad. In an industry where "mature" means blood and sex, I am trying to push the idea that we should try and make more personal games, covering topics that are usually ignored in our medium. In order to do this I had to develop a new part of the game which I can't even play anymore. It was an incre…

  • Almost there! - 1 September 2016

It feels surreal, but I'm soon going to press the RELEASE button and launch Memoir En Code: Reissue on Steam. I am currently still fixing few things here and there and trying to make sure I don't screw everything up. When you work solo and you have no-one next to you double checking what you are doing, the chances that you'll make some mistakes are quite high (let's hope nothing wrong happens). It feels incredibly scary and I'm just kinda going with the flow. Let's just hope the flow doesn't kill me.
