- Uncrewed 2 Announcement - 11 April 2025
It has come time to announce that Uncrewed 2, a sequel and a successor to Uncrewed, is currently active development! While a direct sequel to the original game, Uncrewed 2 takes a different approach to many gameplay aspects of the game and tries to marry the formula of classic RTS with unit design abilities more closely. Base Building Uncrewed 2 features a more traditional approach to base building - the player is free to build anywhere on the map with only the help of a builder unit, eliminating the requirement of special build pads. The variety of structure types has also been expanded, including the addition of effective defensive structures. Maps Map design is also very different in Uncrewed 2. Due to more emphasis on base building in the game, the maps feature more open areas, they are easier to navigate and have distinct levels of elevation to accommodate the new vision system. Ga…
- Public Lobbies - 3 April 2023
Public Lobbies Starting with this update you can now host public multiplayer games that are visible to anyone browsing the custom game gallery. Note that you can still join a public game using the lobby code. Other Fixed several issues that would sometimes prevent players from rejoining a private game lobby they'd previously left; Added Path Stencils to the map editor; Fixed an issue where terrain brushes in the map editor would behave incorrectly at high frame rates; Fixed an issue where some map editor UI controls would behave incorrectly at high frame rates. For the full list of changes see the patch notes.
- Moving to 64-bit, Improved Performance and Rapid Fire Mode - 16 March 2023
64-bit, Improved Performance and legacy OS support When Uncrewed first started development, 32-bit hardware was still ubiquitous and 32-bit OS versions had a significant market share. Today, as far as gaming is concerned, virtually all platforms out there are 64-bit. Up to this point Uncrewed was an exclusively 32-bit application, which caused degraded performance and even stability issues in some cases. As of this update Uncrewed has been ported to 64-bit and will no longer support 32-bit versions of Windows. The move to a 64-bit build brings improved performance (up to 20% in some cases) and eliminates all possible stability issues when playing on maximum settings with large number of units, as well as greatly improves expandability and modding potential. Because of this change Uncrewed will no longer run on any Windows XP version, and as of this update only the 64-bit versions of Win…
- Out Of Early Access, More Updates To Come - 26 March 2020
Out of Early Access! Over three years of development after the initial release, the Early Access tag no longer accurately represents the game state. So today Uncrewed has its official full release! The game features a complete stand-alone campaign, decently large selection of modules of all types to build units with. There is also the ability to create your own modules and maps, Steam Workshop support and more! The game still has room for growth, however its current state does not warrant an Early Access tag. Upcoming Campaign Expansion The work on the campaign expansion continues, and it is planned for release later this year. The game already features a stand-alone campaign, but because of a considerable popular demand it was decided to develop an expansion for the game. Like other all updates before the campaign expansion will be added to the base game with no extra purchases require…
- Update: Portable Reactor - 23 January 2020
What's new? This update introduces the Portable Reactor module, and a few other changes and improvements to the game. Portable Reactor The Portable Reactor module generates energy and recharges the batteries. Although they are heavy and expensive, any number of portable reactors can be installed on a unit. The Portable Reactor also requires an Energy Lab. Launch Command As of this update, units equipped with Grenade Launchers or Artillery Guns can fire at any point on the map by using the Launch command. Firing at a fixed spot can be a way to deny that area to your opponent, and a way to hit fast moving units with slow projectiles if unit movement can be predicted. Other Keyboard scrolling is now re-mappable (Arrow Keys by default); Battery storage capacity is now displayed in the module gallery; Unit sound responses are now not activated on every action; Minor bug fixes and improvement…
- Update: New Game Plus - 26 November 2019
What's new? This update introduces the new game plus mode for the main campaign. New Game Plus As of this update, after completing the campaign on any difficulty a new mode for the campaign is unlocked. The New Game Plus can be accessed when starting a new campaign by chosing "New Game Plus" as the difficulty level. Some of the key differences between New Game Plus and other difficulty levels are: AI opponents play to the best of their abilities and choose the best units available to them; There are no restrictions on technologies from the very start of the campaign; The maximum number of unit slots is available on every map; Research Data locations are randomized. New Game Plus difficulty is the hardest difficulty currently available for the campaign. There's now an additional achievement for completing the campaign on this difficulty. Other Other changes included with this update: Bal…
- Upcoming Updates - 30 September 2019
Long-term Content Plans Currently the game features a complete stand-alone campaign, and a decently large selection of modules of all types. There is also the ability to create your own modules and maps. In many ways the game has outgrown its initial scope. Of course there is always room for improvement. Over the course of development, the community has expressed interest in more single-player content. Taking this and other factors into consideration, the next major content update will feature a campaign expansion. Additionally, any new modules that may be added, will also likely to arrive with that update. As of right now, there is no set release date for the update, but it will be provided further down the development cycle! Other Updates There are other areas of the game that will be getting updates in the meantime. That includes balance updates, updates to the multiplayer component…

- Update: Large Cannon, Large Continuous Tracks - 31 January 2019
What's new? This weapon is most suitable for slower moving targets, though it is versatile enough to be useful against almost all units. Unlike the railguns, it does not consume unit energy. Large Continuous Tracks are a new type of continuous tracks. Due to their increased sized, and power, these tracks are most suitable for larger, more expensive tanks. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F257385%25E2%2580%25A6

The update also brings several general improvements and changes. Anchoring To anchor a unit to the ground, first a Mount needs to be constructed on any standard-sized build pad, and then the unit can be either dropped, or moved there. Provided the unit is equipped with an Anchor module, it will automatically attach itself to the mount. From there the unit can be detached, or rotated in-place (90 degree increments). https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F25738567%2F0e2ea17dca9dae9b5cba280874a60ec20be737d8.png As mentioned in the previous announcement, when anchored, units become completely immovable, and…
