- Active Ability - 22 February 2025
New active abilities have been added you can use! Throw introduces throwing weapons to the game starting with the existing knives. This is the first attack in the game that does damage based on your Agility stat. Then we have Charge which lets you dash forward and strike enemies with swords. Hedgehog stance with spears lets you strike anything on four legs that tries to run you down. Finally, Crash lets you simply do even more damage with axes or hammers by slamming the ground. Just open your abilities menu and check which ones you can unlock. You may also notice the "Supporter" or "Free Play" on the title screen. Those that originally purchased the game get the "Supporter" edition which will include the promised extras in future updates. Regardless of which one you have, I'd like to thank you for playing. This update also includes several gameplay adjustments and fixes to some of the m…
- LandTraveller Now Free to Play - 12 March 2023
Due to recent events in my personal life, I will have to place LandTraveller on hiatus for new content updates. Because the game is already nearly 4 years behind the projected completion date and it isn't known when there will be a new content update, I have decided to make LandTraveller Free to Play. There will be no micro-transactions or any in-app purchases. In recognition for those who have supported and followed this game over the years, everyone who had purchased the game will receive bonus content whenever the next content update is. During the hiatus, I will still provide basic support and collect feedback. Indeed with the game now open to a wider audience, I anticipate more feedback. This will surely make the first update post-hiatus a big one. It is unknown at this time what the new update schedule would look like, but it will continue to prioritize the completion of the story…
- A New World - 31 December 2022
Across the ocean is a city known for being "The Capital of the World". There is where you'll get closer towards your ultimate destiny. You can now travel to this place with your ship and meet the ones who make the decisions that matter.. at least for those living in the city. Anyone attempting to simply walk up to it is never heard from again. They tell of someone named Gina who frequents the area just outside Cobalt City, and survives. You'll need to prepare before you try it yourself, maybe she'll let you borrow her gun. The Barrier Forest gets its name by being the only thing between them and the armies of creatures. Deep inside is a mysterious installation casting shadows with its bright lights. Is this the way in? Apart from the continuation of Story Mode, there's a bunch of new blocks and parts for you to build a more proper house with. These include things like wall material, fra…
- Expression - 11 December 2021
Along with a large amount of bug fixes and game adjustments, this update gives you the ability to color or pattern certain objects. Some can even take on a combination of colors and patterns! Be it a cave, house, town, fortress, or city, you can stand out from all the rest. Several existing places in Story Mode have been updated to give you a few ideas: A variety of new furniture and other decorations are also included. You're able to make signs and write on them, or even fill pages in an entire book. Gameplay should be a lot smoother now with all the fixes and adjustments in this update. Most notable are the material boxes and crates that allow you to store crafting material. When you craft near these objects, their contents can be used automatically. No more shuffling inventory or searching for what you need! Here's a full list of what is new: - Added scroll scraps you can find, combi…
- World Map Update - 23 June 2021
You've been used to exploring the land up until now, but its time to explore the rest of the world. Set out onto the ocean with your ship and explore islands. This update is just a small part of what is to come. In multiplayer, there's still one ship but its possible for anyone to travel the world map even if the ship isn't currently at their location. A prompt will appear in its place. This minor update also includes some fixes and greatly improves the usefulness of several imbue orbs, take a look: - Can now learn how to craft Malice orbs to imbue weapons allowing them to stun upon inflicting status effects - Can travel to Paradise Island and Birth Island - Once your vehicle has been created, you can take it out onto the world map - Added a new weapon mod that allows you to inflict corrosive damage - Added a new type of arrow you can discover and craft that makes it easier to fight rob…
- Chapter 4 Part 2 - 11 January 2021
Chapter 4 continues as you explore the seaside to prepare yourself for a journey into the world. How will you travel the world? On your very own fire-powered ship of course! Recover the missing pieces of lost knowledge and construct your vessel bit by bit. You may have attained new power and have become stronger than ever, but new enemies have appeared that can challenge your new form. If you're feeling brave, you can even take on a nest of these creatures to discover how to craft the first legendary artifacts. This update also includes the official launch of the modding system. Creators can write new mods in the Squirrel language to access the LandTraveller API. Only a few features are available at the moment, but this system will be expanded in future updates. To get started, you can follow this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2070658285 The components in…
- Chapter 4 Part 1 - 19 April 2020
The abandoned manufactory at the top of the haunted mountain is waiting for you! Discover your destiny inside and find a new power that will help you challenge stronger foes. Or maybe you want to settle down for the time being, inviting many to build your lively community. Improve your arsenal with steel weapons and armor, and with rare material hunted from fiends- creatures stronger than usual. All of this and more have now arrived in Chapter 4 Part 1. The first part of Chapter 4 introduces a major character growth milestone in the form of hybrids. At level 7 you can become a hybrid, combining two animal types and gaining access to the abilities from both. Outside of story mode, the NPC system in explore/multiplayer mode has been replaced with a system based on various roles and things each character wants to do or desires to have. NPCs will now gather, hunt, and trade with one another…
- Gameplay Adjustments, Fixes, Blueprint View, Better Food, and More - 19 May 2019
While you're all waiting for Chapter 4 (which will be a big one!) I've prepared a batch of gameplay adjustments and fixes to make the game play a lot more smoothly. There's a blueprint view that will show you everything on the same floor/height as you and the depth cue lighting has been increased making everything easier to visualize. The food and medicine has also been greatly powered up, it should be easier to heal outside of battle now. A separate category on the quick reference guide has been made so you can see what's possible to make and eat: http://landtraveller.com/quickref/food.htm A new track has been added you can opt into called "previous". If a new update prevents you from playing the game in some way, you can opt into that track to play on whatever was the previous version while the current one gets fixed. - Can now force players back to spawn in multiplayer with the egres…
- LandTraveller is on the Lunar New Year Sale! - 4 February 2019

- Chapter 3 Fixes - 10 January 2019
This quick update includes some important fixes and a little bit of a difficulty decrease in chapter 3's area. (Update) Another set of small improvements has been released. There's now an area in story mode that lets you build your own safe house, allowing you to rest and store many items. - Modified a few of the lower case letters of the normal font to make them easier to read - Improved the look of the icons that represent different animal types (when making a character, etc.) and a few of the animals themselves - Added a blue area in story mode so you can build, rest, and store your stuff safetly - Added a check to see if you have a better GPU installed but for some reason LandTraveller was given your Intel integrated one (low performance and screen tearing would result) - Replaced the extended font with Noto Sans CJK to fix support for korean syllables (also adjusted the font size t…
- Chapter 3 Is Here - 6 January 2019
Chapter 3 is here! Help the raccoon Dyne challenge the beast waiting for you atop a mysterious mountain. Prepare yourself with a new, more powerful set of equipment and abilities. Things get a bit tougher now, can you get closer to discovering what hides beyond? This update features more quests, equipment, abilities, weapon modifications, discoveries, and even a few recipes. Explosives have been added as a new proficiency and weapon type which do quite a lot of damage to enemies and terrain, but are harder to craft and require good timing. The wand type of weapon is also introduced. These weapons are like normal ones but let you use special attacks without spending EP if you have the same element of orb equipped as the wand weapon. Several fixes and a small performance upgrade are also included. Plenty of other things have been added, here's the full list: - Added a quest "Exterminator"…
- Fixes and Fast Travel - 12 September 2018
A quick update was released to fix some issues introduced by the previous update, as well as add a much-needed fast travel system and the ability to equip NPCs in explore mode by giving them items. - Can learn how to craft a large map that lets you plot waypoints and fast travel between them - Replaced the old NPC role system with a new one, you can even give items to NPCs to help them get equipped - The item trade menu for NPCs works properly with the mouse now - Fixed a bug that caused problems trying to place some props, like doors that are tall but not wall mounted - NPCs will no longer die in explore mode, this is so you can give them good equipment without worrying
- Fixes and Performance Upgrade - 8 August 2018
Chapter 3 might not be here yet, but quite a few fixes and performance upgrades had been developed in the meantime. These are important for improving the experience, especially since bugs have occurred for some players that have rendered the game nearly unplayable. With the help of a few players testing the beta branch, I can release these fixes for everyone. This update isn't without some new content. There are now some props that will display certain items that are placed in them such as books and orbs. There's also a set of new abilities for the higher level characters. There's also a lot of content being developed behind the scenes that won't be ready until Chapter 3 is released, so keep an eye out. - Can learn and craft a Planner that tracks the day of week, this is useful because traders often restock on the 4th day (Fenir) - Added the Wood Barrel, a container that is easier to bu…
- Discoveries and The Iron Era - 11 February 2018
There are new discoveries to find! Hidden throughout the world are forgotten areas that contain records of what inhabited them. Before, it was enough to recover a tablet or scroll to unlock new crafting recipes, but for some you must uncover clues from these lost places first. While chapter 3 is still in the works, the full set of iron armor and weapons is out. You'll only find the iron you need under the forest in explore/multiplayer mode, but iron may creep back into existing parts of the world. Recipes to give you more options when cooking food have also been added. This update integrates the game further with controller support using Steam. If you've had controllers that didn't work quite right before, they may now. Big Picture support has also been added, the game is aware when you use it and lets you do things like reach the Steam controller configuration menu from inside the game…

- Chapter 2 is Out - 12 December 2017
The biggest update yet! Chapter 2 is out along with a new foe to defeat in both story and explore/multiplayer mode. To help you defeat it, there's a variety of new weapons added along with the ability to imbue any weapon with special powers. Major changes were made to how NPCs work in explore/multiplayer mode. While new characters will only move into area you've already claimed, this area can now grow to take over the adjacent areas if enough people move in. Maybe you're looking to move somewhere nicer? You can build inside of caves, temples, and other places you had to clear to capture them. - Added a new quest "Hair of the Dog" if you ask the mystic who lives in the eastern part of the ruined city - Story mode is now playable through chapter 2 - Added the Razor Knife that you craft from the feathers, it is twice as likely to inflict conditions than other weapons - Added the Panacea Ch…

- Multiplayer Area Protection, NPC Roles, and New Abilities - 18 September 2017
Protecting your items and builds from other players is an essential feature when hosting a public game server, and this update adds a feature to LandTraveller that does just that. If you rest in a bed in an area that hasn't been claimed yet and is far enough away from other players' areas, you can now claim it for yourself. Claiming an area prevents other players from building, destroying, or taking your items. They can still open and close doors and interact with some props. The area is 16x16 blocks in size (spanning up and down), but you can adjust this size for your server in the configuration file. Story mode chapters will be added only when a complete draft is ready. In the meantime, I've added a new story quest to chapter 1 and gave NPCs roles in explore/multiplayer mode. Once you've advanced to the next era, some NPCs will even buy and sell things with you; that coin indicator at…

- Second Early Access Update - 24 July 2017
The engine has been upgraded to support other translations of the game! In multiplayer, the chat now uses a different system that supports text written in other languages. New translations can be made following the example template in the "trans" folder. A guide on that will come soon. Another major update is the ability to connect some objects to each other to form mechanisms and traps. I've got a video on this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvET1k0JMgQ Of course some of the new content will require you to recover scrolls instead of tablets. In explore (or multiplayer) mode, the map has been extended to the north. Head to the top and you'll see an entrance to the next map. You'll find the scrolls if you dig around in the temple ruins, but look out for some tougher enemies! The movement speed has been re-balanced so you move faster with higher agility, but weight will burden you…
