- Graffiti Bombing - Announcement - 18 May 2026
TL;DRAfter more than nine years of development, I’ve decided to step away from active development on Graffiti Bombing. This wasn’t a quick decision, and it’s not something I say lightly. The project started as a technical experiment and personal passion project back in 2016, when I had absolutely no experience with Unity. Over the years it evolved into a full VR graffiti experience, eventually reaching a stable Early Access release on Steam. But after almost a decade of solo development, a significant personal financial investment, and thousands of hours work, I’ve reached a point where continuing development no longer feels sustainable or balanced alongside life and my career.I want to be honest with everyone about where things stand rather than make vague promises about future updates that I may never realistically deliver. The JourneyGraffiti Bombing started in 2016 as a technical demo…

- Graffiti Bombing: Development News - July 2023 - 14 July 2023
Hey GB Crew! So it's been a long while since my last community update, however development work has continued on GB. At the moment we are in closed beta testing, with a group of testers from the GB Discord server. The beta testers have been testing the new player home area and improved VR interactions systems. Along with the various other new features and improvements that have been made to the game, since I took it of Steam and rebuilt everything from the ground up. In case you missed it - here is a video preview from the end of 2022, that shows off the current state of the game and demos the new VR interactions system. The plan for GB remains pretty much the same - continue development and implementation of new and improved features, until we get to a point where the beta testing group think the game is ready for release back into Early Access on Steam. Main tasks remaining before rel…

Hey GB Crew! Since the last update I've been head-down working hard on the road-map. Overall making good progress and really happy with how things are shaping up. Although some features are taking a bit longer to develop than expected, due to additional code complexity and a strong desire to make the VR interactions reliable and a more enjoyable experience. Hopefully the wait will be worth it! Read on to get more details on the progress, including a few exciting new features coming to GB in 2022!! Image above - improved quick color panels for paint tools. Road-map Progress Update Completed quite a few of the items that were listed in the previous community update, also have added a few new things that were unplanned at that time, but required as I discovered along the way. The following items are now mostly complete, or at least working in a fairly usable state. Completely new VR system…

Hey GB Crew! If you joined the GB playtest on Steam - I hope you've been having fun, and are enjoying the improved experience and paint system updates. It's been great to see some of your cool graffiti creations and gather valuable player feedback via the GB Discord server. The playtest is still open - so if you haven't already joined and would like to give it a try, you can sign-up from the GB Steam store page and start playing right away. The current playtest version is the fully unlocked experience, as it is right now. So it's a good opportunity to try out the game and get up in VR for free! Why so quiet, what's been going on? Yes, it's been a long while since I posted any updates to Steam, however work still continues on the game. Getting GB back into playtest in 2021 took a lot more effort than expected, including some major updates that we had to do to the V1 paint system. That sa…
- Graffiti Bombing: Development News #5 - 10 September 2020
Hey GB Crew! We launched into Early Access around 10 days ago, and considering we'd been in beta for a few months before that, I'd hoped the launch would go fairly smoothly. However to be honest that's not the case, as you'll notice from the mixed reviews we received on Steam since launch. That's OK though, we live and learn... and sometimes you don't always succeed the first time! So yesterday after careful consideration, I made the decision to take Graffiti Bombing off public sale and disable downloads. I did this to give myself time to consider all the feedback received so far, make a plan to improve the experience, address bugs and handle the performance issues. At the same time we plan to put in place additional systems and optimizations, to handle cases where people with lower-end, below minimum spec systems (i.e. a potato) try to play. What is Graffiti Bombing? To be 100% clear w…

- Graffiti Bombing: Launch Date Confirmed! - 21 August 2020
Hey GB Crew, You may have noticed the release date for Graffiti Bombing has recently changed to an actual day... T-minus 7 Days Until Launch I'm happy to confirm it's official, we'll be launching into Early Access on Friday, 28th August, 2020! That's not to say things are final and 100% bug free - however we are in a much better place than we were 4 months ago - and considering we are releasing Early Access, I cannot delay things any longer. Getting to this point has been incredibly hard work, and so I'd like to thank all the supporters that gave encouragement and helped motivate me to keep going. Special thanks to the Discord crew and beta testers who have tested, given feedback, found bugs and offered their suggestions for improvement. Early Access Plans This is just the start of the journey for Graffiti Bombing - we've got to the door and are about to open it, launching into Early Ac…

Hey GB Crew, It's been a while since the last update, apologies for the radio silence! Rest assured, we are still alive and working hard on development for GB - however it's taking a lot more work to get ready for launching into Early Access. Closed Beta Update The first beta group started in May 2020 with a small group of testers. See the list below for some relevant details. Current build supports hardware for HTC VIVE, Valve Index and Oculus Rift. Testers have been doing graffiti, testing the tools and exploring environments. Providing valuable feedback for improvements on features and usability. Reporting bugs and glitches, that we have been able to track and fix. Providing valuable hardware specific feedback on controller configurations. Helping us to work through performance and bugs related to hardware. Contributing new ideas and suggestions that will make the experience better.…

Hey GB Crew, Ain't no joke - we are actually getting closer to the first round of user testing! Development Progress Update: I've been working hard on finishing up critical functionality and tasks, then fixing bugs mostly. Moving any non-critical tasks to post launch, so back in the ice-box for now. Current tasks left in progress, before the first Steam test build is published: Testing across different VR setups for first round of beta (HTC Vive, Valve Index and Oculus Rift). Fixing any critical issues for device types, mostly button mappings and orientation tweaks. After that I'll be starting to get the first beta build ready for Steam to review. Then will setup a beta channel on Discord, start inviting people, and give some beta info. Finally start sending out the first test build via Steam, initially to a small group of testers. Depending how much critical feedback, and how many bugs…

Hey GB Crew, Welcome to 2020 - a new era, and the official start of Graffiti Bombing on Steam! I'd like to share a brief project development / plan update with you. With a goal of giving you some more details and specifics about the work that is left to-do, before we can go to an initial release on Steam. As you've probably noticed, the current release date for Graffiti Bombing says January 2020, and here we are... it's January already, and wow that arrived so fast! To be clear -- the project is not quite ready to launch yet -- and it's very likely that I'll be moving back the release date to the end of February 2020. That said however - I do want to launch as soon as possible, and definitely before Half-life Alyx, as it's going to be madness around that time (and I want to play that so badly myself too!). So to keep you updated, here is the low-down / info on a few things... Coming soo…
