- Sky Noon - Weekend Revival - 25 June 2026
After Sky Noon recently popped up in a new YouTube video about Steam games no one plays, we were reminded how much fun this chaotic little multiplayer game still is when people are actually in the servers together. So, with Sky Noon 80% off during the Steam Summer Sale, we’re going to hop online this Friday and get some community matches going. No big relaunch. No big update. Just a fun excuse to jump back into the Floating Frontier, bring some friends, and send each other flying with grappling hooks, lassos, and air-powered chaos. Come play with us this Friday (June 26th) from 3:30 PM PST to 5 PM PST (possibly longer)!

This blog will give a bit of insight into its development, starting from the concept stage and progressing to the final result. What is Pinnacle Pinnacle is a section of lake and a water source that was raised very, very high into the sky long ago, causing all the water to freeze for easy harvesting. Before we began, we knew that we wanted to create a map inspired by the ice trade, which involved the mass collection and transport of ice from the 19th to early 20th century. We felt that this theme meshed perfectly with Sky Noon’s backstory of fighting over water. A large mass of ice would be a goldmine for whoever controls it, as they could gradually mine away at…
- Coming Soon: Duels in Sky Noon - 25 July 2018

You can expect this new mode in the coming weeks with update 0.6. Duel is a 1v1 round based game mode that takes place on very small symmetrical maps with a strict ruleset. You can invite your friend (or enemy) to a personal competitive challenge to determine which of you is the best at Sky Noon. Duels are compact and tense, allowing for risky and daring moves to ensure that the other player falls first. In a duel, the only thing that matters is that your opponent falls out of the map before you do. If a player is eliminated, then the other player will receive a point and a new round will begin. This will respawn both players with new we…
- Quick Join and Reticle Customisation Patch - 10 July 2018

It will be adding Quick Join, a much requested feature that will automatically find the best server for you. Another new feature is reticle customisation, which will give you control over the appearance of your reticle. You can read the full patch notes by clicking the link: http://lunarrooster.com/2018/07/10/sky-noon-patch-v0-5-2/0 Quick Join The goal of Quick Join is to put players in games easier. We’ve added a button to join the best dedicated server for you, based on ping and player counts, so you can get playing right away. The server list is still around if you want to get more selective, but the idea is players are able to jump into a game quicker. It’s important to note that this isn’t Matchmaking, there are no queu…

- Premature Evaluation: Sky Noon - 26 June 2018
Premature Evaluation is the (usually) weekly column in which we explore the wilds of early access. This week, Fraser’s shooting acrobatic cowboys in Sky Noon , an unconventional FPS full of grappling hooks and aerial antics. My stetson and I have spent a great deal of time soaring through big, open skies recently. It s been lovely, though there s always a tinge of frustration and just a bit of disappointment breaking the serenity of my trip through the clouds. That s because I m usually hurtling to my death. Sky Noon can be a tricky FPS to wrap one s head around, and I m not sure I m there yet, judging by my many fatalities. Because I m a glutton for punishment, and because it s shaping up to be a uniquely brilliant cowboy shootout, I ve persisted. (more…)

Sky Noon is finally out in Steam Early Access! We’re thrilled to see the positive reactions and fun that has come out of it so far. Being able to interact with the community, discussing strategies or playing alongside you, has made it much more fun. Up next we will be walking you through our plans for the future of Sky Noon and its evolution as an Early Access title. We believe that being as transparent as possible with our ideas and future additions is massively important, giving our great community the chance to offer feedback and suggestions as we go. We want to make sure that there is always something cool to look forward to. As stated on Steam, we think the Early Access period will last a maximum of 6 to 8 months. All along the way we will be updat…
- It s Sky Noon, and this knockabout online FPS is out now - 14 June 2018
Be still my beating heart; someone has found a way to combine wild west aesthetics, the mechanics of Smash Bros, and a competitive FPS structure that doesn’t instantly hand a win to the first player to put a crosshair over someone’s head. Lunar Rooster’s Sky Noon is an online FPS set in a weird floating wild west, where folks navigate with rocket boots and grappling hooks, and guns shoot compressed air instead of hot lead, and it’s out today, albeit via early access. - Sky Noon swings into early access on June 14th - 4 June 2018
I enjoyed the brief time I spent with LawBreakers , so I was sad to see that it didn’t take off . It’s puzzling, because everyone loves grappling hooks and LawBreakers is the only multiplayer game I can think of that gave me one. Maybe what the world needs is a game with all the joy of grappling hook-packed aerial battles, but instead of blowing people up you’re blowing them off a floating island. With cowboy airguns. Fortunately, that game exists. It’s called Sky Noon , and it enters early access on June 14th. (more…)
- Sky Noon Early Access launch date set - 1 June 2018
The Sky Noon beta test that ran in April went well, according to a recent update from developer Lunar Rooster, and so with that taken care of the studio has announced that an Early Access launch has been set for June 14.  Sky Noon is basically what would happen if you mixed LawBreakers with Lee Van Cleef and gave everybody overpowered Airsoft guns. It's an FPS, but there are no bullets or health bars. Instead, players use grappling hooks, jet packs, jump pads, and other such high-flying paraphernalia to whip around the skies of the Floating Frontier, wielding powerful pneumatic weaponry to knock everyone else off the edges and to a splattery death below.    The Early Access release of Sky Noon will go for $15 on Steam , but there may be an opportunity to give it a try for free before release. Lunar Rooster said it doesn't have another beta planned yet, but "you…

We hope that all of you in the US had a nice Memorial Day! The second beta for Sky Noon has been and gone. It was great to see so many people giving our game a go, helping us to find those pesky bugs and test new balance changes. We have gained a great amount of information and feedback from the beta which we are putting to good use. Overall we are pleased with how everything performed, barring a few bugs like the Teleporter sending people into walls. This and other such bugs will be fixed as soon as possible. Some tweaks to certain weapons and abilities are necessary but the balance is stable. We are happy to see that the revolver is no longer dominating the sandbox yet is still strong in its long range niche. It’s also g…
- What to Expect in the Closed Beta This Week - 21 May 2018

Hello again, we’re back with another blog post for you to eat up with your eyes. Before we get talking about the closed beta starting this week, which is probably the only thing you’re here for, we should mention that our Unreal tech blog is now up. You can head over to the Unreal community website to have a look at the process of prototyping Sky Noon, followed by development from said prototype into what you see today. Here’s a nice link to get you there if you’re interested: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/sky-noon---reimagining-the-wild-west-into-a-first-person-action-brawler Now onto the important stuff. The next Sky Noon beta is now announced for the 23rd of May, so look forward to further announcements detailing what we’ll be showing. It will last for two days, ending on the 25th of May, so make sure you’re signed up in our Discord server and you won’t miss out. This week our blog is about the machine pistol and how it transitioned from a gun that shot actual bullets (that still didn’t kill people) into an air powered thingamabob. - Discussion: Randomised Weapon Pickups and why we chose them - 7 May 2018

With the first Beta done and dusted we thought we would take some time to talk to you about the role of the Crate weapon / ability pickups and randomness in Sky Noon. In your feedback, we found some of you were for and against randomness and we want to lay out how our current system works and then we’d love for you to chime in and discuss this with us on our Discord. These crazy Crates In Sky Noon players always spawn with a random weapon and ability. In order to change their weapon or ability, players can run over or lasso one of the many crates around the level. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F%25E2%2580%25A6

Since the closed beta ended we’ve been analysing our long lists of feedback and making some changes. We are hard at work fixing bugs you found for us and polishing up some rough areas in response to the feedback. Meanwhile we are also taking a good look at weapon and ability balance. We want to carefully approach potentially overpowered weapons and abilities to make sure they remain fun to use and powerful but not clearly stronger than the rest. We will be able to talk more in detail about balancing later on. For now, a fairly significant change we would like to share is the update we have made to the Cart map ‘Bridge’ which we showed during the closed beta. Some of the following changes are a work in progress and…
