- A look back at E3's long and storied history - 5 June 2014
It's funny how far the Electronic Entertainment Expo has come in its nearly 20 years of existence. It's had its fair share of ups and downs, but overall it's been the go-to show for surprise game announcements, system reveals and other information about forthcoming titles. In addition, it's also become a huge social center for journalists and attendees alike, whether it was during the show or the many after-parties that surrounded it. Join us now as we take a look back into the past of E3, when it began as a small idea that broke away from the Consumer Electronics Show and flourished into something bigger and spectacular, only to drift off and be reborn again.
- 3D Realms bought by Interceptor Entertainment part-owner - 3 March 2014
It's never simple with 3D Realms. The Duke Nukem creator is current being sued by Gearbox Software, who bought the musclebound chucklehead's IP as it finished Duke Nukem Forever , over supposedly trying to make a new Duke game with Rise of the Triad remaker Interceptor Entertainment. 3DR simply has no right to, Gearbox says. But oh, another wrinkle. 3D Realms has now been bought by an investment firm which part-owns Interceptor.
- 3D Realms 'voluntarily withdraws' lawsuit against Gearbox - 13 September 2013
Back in June , Duke Nukem creator 3D Realms sued Duke Nukem Forever co-developer Gearbox Software for over $1.3 million. However, it appears Gearbox has walked away the winner, with 3D Realms "voluntarily withdrawing" their claim. "After reviewing evidence regarding our business affairs, and without any money exchanging hands, we have satisfactorily resolved any and all differences that we perceived against Gearbox," a statement from 3D Realms reads.
