1 Week In - Fixes and Performance Improvements - 24 November 2017
Hello! It's been roughly one week since Gearend launched! I've been working away, resolving all of the various bugs that have been reported to me, and attempting to improve performance. So far, I've made some minor performance improvements and fixed the major bugs, which is cool. The last update I just pushed (v1.05) should have fixed: + The issue with the game crashing when rebinding controllers under certain circumstances + The issue with not being able to load the game after completion to continue exploration (minor spoilers in this link!) This same update also added delta timing to Gearend's game engine. This means that if your computer can't keep up a solid 60 FPS, the game will shift its method of updating to keep the game running at full speed, enabling you to still enjoy the game without issues despite the low visual framerate. The down-side is that it seems to be a bit stuttery…

Gearend is now released! The OST, too! - 17 November 2017
I just wanted to pop in and say that Gearend is now released on Steam. Hurray! Those who purchased Gearend on itch.io will also have access to their own Steam copy hopefully later today. I'll definitely tweet and post an itch.io devlog post to indicate when that is. (EDIT: I've just sent out keys to itch.io purchasers.) I also wanted to say that the official OST to Gearend is ALSO released on Bandcamp! It's got close to an hour and a half of (in my opinion) pretty rockin' music. Gearend is a small 2D non-linear action-platforming exploration game. You control a small robot named Epsilon-98, or Eps, as he explores a hostile robotics research facility. Fight, restore, and explore as you search for the humans who awakened you.

About this game

Gearend is a small 2D non-linear action-platforming exploration game. You take control of a small robot named Epsilon-98, or "Eps", as you explore an abandoned robotics research facility. Having been awoken by external forces, Eps sets out to determine what has happened to the facility and its inhabitants. Throughout the game, you find capsules, containing spare robot parts. These spare parts upgrade your capabilities, enabling you to slash, dash, shoot, block, fly, and more as you explore the dilapidated remains of an advanced robotics research facility. You also will also find other friendly robots who may help you in your journey.
