- Dungeons Franchise - Weeklong Deal - 30 May 2022
Dungeon Lords, our Dungeons Weeklong Deal including the whole Dungeons Franchise is now live! A mighty hero stalks through a dark, dank dungeon making life miserable for hordes of pitiable monsters as he steals anything and everything not bolted to the floor. Been there, done that - about a thousand times? Then it is definitely time to switch sides and show that hero just who's who in the dungeon! Assume the role of a mighty (and mighty evil) Dungeon Lord and create your own diabolical demesnes underground. Dim-witted goblin workers tremble as they await your orders and dig corridors and rooms into the rock at your command. Heroes will visit your dungeon in search of battle and treasure. Naturally, you could always just annihilate them with a snap of your fingers. But isn't it more entertaining and deliciously evil to watch them attain their heart's desire - and then take it ALL away? S…

- Dungeons 3 out next week, features more keeping and more overworlding - 5 October 2017
We’ll never get Dungeon Keeper 3, but in a few days we will get Dungeons 3, sequel to a not-Bullfrog spiritual remake that took the long way round to evoking its revered forebear. Dungeons 1 was a hot mess, but in our Dungeons 2 review I felt it made a pretty decent fist of the ol’ monster-management + RTS combat formula. Dungeons 3 , all of a sudden out next week (we newsed it back in February but this was the first I’d heard of it, and I’m the only one who matters), looks like it’s trying to refine that even further. (more…)

- Many balancing, performance and stability improvements from The Dark Lord Add-on have been integrated. - You can now zoom out further with the camera to get a greater overview of your dungeon. - The campaign button in the main menu now always leads to the mission selection map and loads the last profile saved (campaign progress, skill and attribute points). Thereby, it is now easier to replay maps that have already been completed and to finish the remaining achievements there (to receive additional attribute and skill points). - All single-player maps have been significantly overhauled, made more different from each other, given descriptions and provided with a greater number of heroes. - The selection GUI for single-player games has been more clearly designed with filtering by dungeon level, the display of an overview map and the display of the starting resources. - Most single-p…

- Dungeons review - 7 February 2011
Some games wear their inspirations on their sleeves. Dungeons wears a Dungeon Keeper T-shirt, drives a red and black car with a ‘I heart Dungeon Keeper’ sticker on it, and visits a plastic surgeon every Tuesday to ask if he’s ready to give it that Horned Reaper look it so badly wants. Just look at it. If it was any more of a copycat, you’d hear it meow. Except... Against the odds, Dungeons actually turns out to be its own game too. The biggest difference is that your underground empire is now a dedicated hero farm, built specifically to draw do-gooders into your clutches and harvest Soul Energy from them. When they first enter, they’re worthless. By sprinkling all the gold, treasure and monsters they can handle in their path, their Soul Energy bar gets nice and juicy, and only then do you drop the hammer on them – before they escape home with your treasure. Soul Energy buys Prestige, an…

- Dungeons preview - 3 February 2011
A rip-off? Depends how much you want a new Dungeon Keeper. Trust me, I’m not being mean: Dungeons couldn’t possibly try harder to be Dungeon Keeper 3. An underground empire that you carve out using imps and goblins. A map screen full of idyllic countryside. A Dungeon Heart in the middle of your empire that has to be kept safe at all costs. Chatting with your goblin sidekick, it seems the main difference between being a Dungeon Lord and a Dungeon Keeper is that Lords have to put up with annoying middle-managers, while Keepers don’t have scantily clad demon girlfriends waiting to betray them and hijack their empires. Swings and roundabouts. Still, despite all the shameless – shameless – cloning of theme and basic ideas, Dungeons does feel at least a bit different to Dungeon Keeper. For starters, you directly control the Dungeon Lord instead of just directing minions around from a distance…
