- HD assets for Windows, Mac, and introducing, Linux! - 15 March 2022
MacGuffin's Curse has had a major renovation! Now with more pixels, and new builds for Windows, Mac, and releasing for the first time on Linux! While the gameplay is the same, people playing on resolutions higher than 1024x768 (the OLD standard) will automatically default to HD assets, and have access to a widescreen display option! Adding Linux as a new platform, and updating the Windows and Mac builds was achieved by updating a 10 year old Unity project. They said it couldn't be done! Now that MacGuffin's Curse has been resurrected from the dead it will hopefully keep pace with the ever changing Mac OS updates (Linux and Windows will probably be fine forever and ever).
- MacGuffin's Curse HD Remaster & Linux Release - 21 February 2022
Brawsome's second game, the werewolf comedy puzzle adventure - MacGuffin's Curse, is getting an HD facelift on March 15, 2021. The update includes a new build of MacGuffin's Curse, supporting the latest Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as releasing on Linux for the first time! The game also breaks the desktop version out of it's 4:3 resolution to support 16:9 widescreen mode for the first time! https://store.steampowered.com/app/58230/MacGuffins_Curse/
- Warp Frontier launching in Chinese and German - 11 January 2022
Warp Frontier is getting Chinese and German translations! The Simplified and Traditional Chinese translations are launching for the Lunar New Year, and the German translation is coming in April. Hopefully an Aussie point and click adventure will translate well into other languages. I'm trying these first two to test the waters. I ramble on more about it here. https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/
- Interview on the In The Deep End podcast - 15 December 2021
Last week I caught up with the guys from the In The Deep End podcast. There were some really insightful questions about Warp Frontier and Brawsome origins! Also, I recorded this at 6:30am to compensate for the time difference, so excuse me if I'm a little groggy. - Brawsome on the Adventure Games Podcast - 27 September 2021
I had a nice chat with Seoirse Gorka Dunbar from the Adventure Games Podcast last week ahead of Warp Frontier releasing this week. We managed to cover a surprising amount of ground in 90 minutes, from accents, growing up, my motivations around making games, and through pretty much the entire history of Brawsome up to this point. https://adventuregamespodcast.com/podcast/2021/9/25/episode-122-interivew-with-andrew-goulding-aka-captain-brawsome
- Warp Frontier Soundtrack now available! - 22 September 2021
Greetings from Brawsome! Warp Frontier releases in a week! The craziness of a three year development cycle has stablized at Brawsome HQ just long enough to consider adding one more thing to the Warp Frontier release in the form of a standalone soundtrack! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1765900/Warp_Frontier_Soundtrack/ Thomas Regin did a fantastic job composing the score of Warp Frontier, which has influences from The Expanse, The Dig, and The Terminator. It's an 80's sci-fi inspired sound track that feels unlike anything else. The soundtrack will drop the same time as Warp Frontier. Throw it up on your wishlist, if that's your thing.
- Warp Frontier to release September 28, 2021 - 6 September 2021
Greetings from Brawsome! It's finally happening! Three years after Brawsome's return to Australia from the US, it's releasing its next game - Warp Frontier! Warp Frontier is a fully voiced 2D sci-fi point and click adventure, in HD resolution, coming to screens the 28th of September, 2021, on Steam, GOG and Switch for US$14.99. Initial PC release will be Windows, with MAC and Linux versions to follow. Warp Frontier is a sci-fi cop drama, set in the year 2215, in orbit around Cetus, humanity's newest extrasolar colony, but at its core is an Australian story, with many parallels with Australia's short history. You play Vincent Cassini, supported by his robot partner, MAC, as they become embroiled in an investigation into a horrendous war crime, in which Vince has a personal stake, from the war that environmentally devastated their planet. Vince is on the verge of a mid-life crisis, dealin…
- Warp Frontier Development Videos - 31 August 2021
I've been posting a few videos of Warp Frontier's development over the last 3 years. Some videos as far back as 2019! You can check them out in this YouTube List https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlxqKStZS1M&list=PLhQHVdFVeI5sKKNZg6XRu9IWG7J7PRMXF We were using Blender for greyboxing of scenes, which beats the hand-drawn scanned images I've used on previous games. The animation went through a few iterations as well. I've saved all the videos of my first play through the entire game from about mid-2020, but I'm not sure if there's a good way to share them without lots of spoilers. So, I've just tried to pick out a few that don't give away too much! https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/
- Interview with Andrew Goulding of Brawsome - 17 August 2021
I did an interview with Robert Willing yesterday on all things Brawsome, which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGZX7ZMCKaQ Check Robert's other videos for interviews with Dave Gilbert, Francisco Gonzalez and more!
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spotlight - Aimee Smith as Juliet Cassini - 30 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Aimee Smith! Aimee plays Juliet Cassini. Fierce leader in the war resistance, but whose whereabouts have been a mystery for the last 10 years. Vince never gave up looking for her. Juliet is a mystery character we hear bits and pieces of throughout the game. I'm purposefully keeping her look vague here to avoid spoilers! https://youtu.be/rOVRVuxho3E This is the final voice actor spotlight for Warp Frontier. Does it feel like there have been a lot? There have been a lot! You can revisit all 24 of them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zn6Ye896qAc&list=PLhQHVdFVeI5seW65ghXaXADS7dMbzqJPm I probably underestimated the effort required to get all of these done and post about them, like I do with most things, but I'm happy with the result, and I hope people found them interesting. As this marks the end of the voice actor spotlights, the…
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spotlight - Lazar Djukić as Denko Novak - 29 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Lazar Djukić! Lazar Djukić plays Denko Novak. Veteran of the Cetan war, serving as the General Kuznetsov's personal security. Lazar has great energy, and had to tone it down a little for Denko. Lazar seems like the kind of actor that I would have been able to cast on Jolly Rover. Maybe there are more roles for him in future! Lazar took on 4 roles in Warp Frontier, but I'm only showcasing two of them here. In the game this voice is processed through a helmet radio, so this is probably the only 'clean' version you'll hear. https://youtu.be/KJgVAXCsbQE https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Angela Tran as Sok - 28 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Angela Tran! Angela plays Sok. A street kid from the Rust, their home planet's orbital slum. Sok puts on a tough front, but will lose his cool in the face of a real threat. This is Angela's third and final spotlight, though she voiced a computer as well, there wasn't enough lines to warrant another. Behind Vince and MAC, Angela had the third-most lines in the game, which makes her a pretty major part of Warp Frontier. I hope this isn't the the project I get to work with here on! https://youtu.be/-x1nokiox5w https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spotlight - James Goulding as Ferdinand Cassini - 27 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is James Goulding! James, my youngest son, plays Ferdinand. Vince and Trish's youngest boy, Ferdinand has spent his entire life in orbit, and relies on his brother Sam for support and guidance. James was 6 at the time of recording, and was surprisingly natural and took direction very well. He was great at projecting, as 6 year olds seem to be constantly projecting. The only issue I had was getting him to face the microphone. He would say his lines then look at me right at the last word. To solve this I put a lego person behind the mic and had him say all his lines to it, which worked perfectly. https://youtu.be/wfVThDzeELQ https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spotlight - Xuân Vinh Huynh as Hebo - 26 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Xuân Vinh Huynh! Xuan Vinh Huynh plays Hebo. A street kid from the Rust, their home planet's orbital slum. Hebo's a tough risk taker, as long as his parents don't find out about his actions. Xuan's line delivery was one of the few instances where I didn't have to ask for any retakes. We were both surprised! It also helps that Xuan knows a thing or two about audio and I didn't have to mess with his audio files at all, bar a slight tweak to levels. If you want a hassle free voice actor Xuan's your guy. https://youtu.be/3CF7x4bQh14 https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spotlight - Ivona Kustudić as Nina Mishkin - 23 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Ivona Kustudić! Ivona Kustudic plays Nina Mishkin. Commander of a Locan security team, Nina follows her orders to a point, but knows war contains shades of grey. This is Ivona's second role in Warp Frontier, playing a veteran soldier. Ivona had to push her voice a little harder on this role to achieve a husky quality. I had a little trouble cleaning and levelling some of these lines, but once I was put onto Izotope RX I was able to get a result I could drop into the game. https://youtu.be/UsPSymaLGYE https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
- Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Edwyn Tiong as various Computers - 21 July 2021
Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Edwyn Tiong! Edwyn plays various nefarious computers. Edwyn didn't fit any of the existing roles, but I was glad to find a part, even though small, for his unique voice and delivery. There are a lot of voice actors I'd like to work with again, which is especially true for the cast of Jolly Rover, but sometimes the roles aren't there for them. After this game, if I get lucky enough to make another, I'll likely have voices of various actors I'd like to work with in the forefront of my mind when I get to putting pen to paper. https://youtu.be/3vziUdnnntA https://store.steampowered.com/app/226280/Warp_Frontier/ #voiceactor #PointAndClick #IndieGameDev
