Cards & Gameplay Changes The first Trial of Champions launches and the start of Season 2 A new Trial of Champions leaderboard is live for 30 days starting at 3 PM PDT and ending on April 10th at 3 PM PDT. Players who rank in the top 7 will earn exclusive rewards, including the Legendary Combat Medic and an alternate 2D card art version of Epic Shockblade Smuggler. To level the playing field, all players will be reset to 0 valor in Season 2 as the Trial of Champions will be ranked on Valor. While we would prefer to do a partial valor reset to preserve some of your progress in previous seasons and to protect new players from veterans, a full reset was simpler and we didn’t want to delay the event any more. Matchmaking is now done by Valor instead of by Deck power. A new Legendary card, Veil Devourer, is available with increased drop rates for a limited time in the Veiled Recruit store tab…

Cards & Gameplay Changes Reworked how relic acquisition works Removed the rotating relic shop Added 80 guide quests to earn each dual faction relic All Units now behave as though they have the “Thief” keyword. This keyword has been removed from all cards. To promote a more dynamic and engaging mini game around victory points. Removed Signature keyword from all cards. This was not signalled well to players and led to confusion in deck building Many cards have had their leveling curves adjusted such that no cards should have spread values at max level Units standing on a spawning Victory or Mana Crystals will no longer be stunned. An unnecessary and poorly signalled nuance that tripped players up Experiments to reduce average match time All Commanders have had their base HP reduced by around 10%, All Commanders have had their leveling curve adjusted to adjust for lower starting life Playe…

- Patch Notes 12/5/24 - 5 December 2024
Economy Overhaul: We’ve heard you and are making significant improvements to card acquisition. We hope this set of changes lets players develop their collections more quickly, level up more cards, and have greater agency which cards they use in a deck, how they grow their collection, and which cards they upgrade. Pulling a standard card cost reduced from 125 chroma to 40 chroma. Increased drop rate of legendary/epic cards Combination of ~3x more cards and increased drop rate of rarer cards means for a similar level of spend/engagement, you’ll see: ~12x increase in epic cards ~18x increase in legendary cards Upgrading cards is cheaper at all levels. The reduction in cost is greatest at lower levels. IE: 1->2 is much cheaper than before, and had a greater reduction in cost than 6->7. As a thank you for sticking with Shardbound: Double Rewards for Purchasers: If you’ve made purchases in th…

- Shardbound Patch #56 - It's 2020 edition - 17 February 2020
System Changes There has been a lot of time since the last time we patched. We’ve been working hard with a group of playtesters on the card changes to try to create something that people will find fun. We also attempted to bring some more features to the game including seasonal leaderboards and earnable cardbacks. As a secondary note: due to the nature of the card changes, any card which was removed in this patch has been fully refunded and it’s full crafting currency has been returned to you. Seasonal Leaderboards We’ve gone and set up a new Noble Season for people to go and have something to chase with all of the new changes. With this, we’ve reset ranked down to start off season 1. You can still view your Season 0 stats through your profile, as well as see the Season 0 noble leaderboard in all it’s glory on the leaderboard screens. Based on your previous rank your new rank is as foll…
- Patch Notes #55.5 - 4 July 2019
System Changes Random duel order now actually randomly chooses a player instead of always Player 1 Daily Rewards exist again! Rematches in queueing are enabled for the time being (previously you were prevented from matching with the same person twice in a row) Temporarily disable the Twitch nodes for Give Streamer Deck and Streamer Gives Deck so that the nodes only have challenge queues. You can now play Blame The Deck (randomly generated multicolor decks) through duels! You can now click on the duel toast to bring up the duel menu faster Rebalanced the Blame the Deck algorithm Card Adjustments - Nerfs A large number of neutrals to adjust here. Neutrals have been ubiquitous in top lists due to their flexibility and often best in slot nature over some of the class cards. We hit a lot of the known offenders, but one notable card missing here is Soul Shifter. Soul Shifter is strong, but is…

- Important: Roadblock Update - 24 January 2018
Greetings, Rangers - It has been a long and difficult road since our last post, and we appreciate your continued patience and support. We’re reaching out today to give an update, and it’s likely not the one you were hoping for. We’ve been unable to find the support we need to bring Shardbound to a full commercial launch. As such, we’re now at a point where we need to officially cease active development of the game and find new opportunities to support ourselves and our families. What does this mean for the live service of Shardbound? In the immediate term, the game will continue to be available and the servers will stay online. However, for the longer term, we’re hoping to hear from you. We want to figure out our next steps together. While we won’t be able to devote our days to Shardbound anymore, we want to support this amazing community in whatever ways we can. As always, please join…

- Dev Update: Roadblock - 20 September 2017
Hey there, Rangers. We’ve got a rather tough Dev Update to share with all of you today. The development of Shardbound has encountered a roadblock, and we’re trying to look for ways to solve it. A bit of background: when we started making Shardbound in Lauren’s garage, we set out to make a AAA-Quality competitive experience. We knew it would be a challenging road, and outside funding would be absolutely necessary to complete the game. We raised the seed funding we needed to get started, which carried us to the pre-alpha version that we could test with you, our awesome community. When we needed to get a little bit further to soft-launch on Steam, we ran a successful Kickstarter with your incredible support. The last leg of our journey to launch requires us to secure a financing round to polish gameplay, finish the art, and give Shardbound a full commercial launch. And now, we’ve hit that…
