- SteamOS & Linux Patch - 10 August 2024
Hi all! This is is a thing I thought I'd fixed some time ago but turns out it never got published. Oops. So from now on when you try to launch the game on Steam Deck or Linux, you won't get a missing executable error. I've also set what I hope are more useable default controller configs. Mouse Only seems to work fine! Thank you for your (extreme) patience.

Hello (and for people reading this today, happy halloween). A few months back I said that I would make an announcement in October, and that it would either be announcing an new episode, or, if it all went wrong, announcing that there was never going to be another episode. I made a lot of bad decisions as a game developer, for sure. Almost seems like being the kind of person who can't make good decisions is what attracts people to game development in the first place. But of all of my bad decisions, the one that's caused me the most anguish was not understanding that Yorkshire Gubbins was already, very much like Ken in the Barbie movie, enough. But to me it simply wasn't enough, and so I sold the game as something that I was going to add more content to. Hi friends, I wanted to let you know that in October of this year (on the 6th Anniversary of the original release of Yorkshire Gubbins) I'm going to make An Announcement. But I don't know what the announcement is going to be yet. This isn't a joke. I'm like a ferret. Never trust a ferret. Or me. I do have an episode in progress right now. I am doing everything I can to make progress on it each and every day, in the hopes that it will become something you get to download and play and everyone gets the Happy Ending. I hope The Announcement is "A New Episode! Soon! Free!" But at the same time because I'm doing "everything I can", and I mean that literally, it does mean that if this project fails it's not clear to me how it will ever be possible to complete a new episode. - The Aye Fair Lady Update - 22 April 2021
We did it! It's been too long, but thanks to the supporters I've finally been able to ship a long awaited big update to Yorkshire Gubbins. Aye Fair Lady has been added, the musical episode, as well as every episode being updated to run on the Aye Fair Lady version of the engine. In effect this is a huge graphics & ui overhaul for every episode, but Verb School has had a bit more love with refreshed art assets. I've also added keyboard shortcuts for the verbs, the most requested feature. Another big improvement is the ability to swap between episodes without abandoning your progress. Good for if you're stuck and want to play something else, I hope. Speaking of hope, work will now be beginning on a brand new Gubbins episode. Progress will be slow as I have a full time job now, but I'm very confident the development is sustainable. And that's good news. I hope you enjoy the refreshed Yorks…

I get angry. I get angry for a number of reasons, but a few times a year I get angry because video games aren’t as funny as I wish they were. Especially the games that are really Trying Hard to be funny. So, when I encounter a genuinely funny title, it makes me happy to recommend it. Obviously, there’s not a formula that always works. Well, except for the formula of “accents plus robots” because that works every. single. time. So Aye Fair Lady works for me. It checks both aforementioned boxes. It’s Mandatory Singing Day. And Steggy forgot to leave town. There’s only one thing to do: Put a stop it this tyranny forever. If you’ve played the game Yorkshire Gubbins before , you know what you’re getting into here. I don’t write reviews so this isn’t a review. The news is: Area Woman Plays Yorkshire Gubbins , Really Quite Likes It. That’s news, yeah. Released in October 2017, Yorkshire Gubbins is an anthology of comedy point ‘n’ click adventure games featuring all the local touchstones you’d expect in god’s own country: tea, ginnels, pies, slugpeople clones, robots, and the greeting “ey up”. It’s funny, it’s warm, the puzzling flows nicely, and it’s all a tidy length. The prequel and tutorial are free and all, so have a go. (more…)

This patch fixes an issue with low-end GPUs that weren't able to render Steggyvision at all. These GPUs won't have quite the same Steggyvision Quality Index (SQI) as those that already had it working, but it's better than nowt!

Hello you! 1.0.4 brings two big features some some little things. The big things: Linux / SteamOS Support! We were always planning to support Linux but last minute technical issues meant our Linux build wasn't quite up to the standard expected, so it's been a little delayed. We hope you enjoy! Skip dialog Only applies to dialogue you've heard before, but right clicking will end the current line immediately. This'll make accidentally repeating something a little less painful. This version also fixes a number of little bugs and typos, including the ability to unlock the final 2 achievements. But you didn't hear that from us.

A new comedy adventure anthology explores a weird version of Yorkshire – home of, as developers Stairfall Institute point out, “the British accent used in Game of Thrones”. Appropriately named Yorkshire Gubbins, the game launched its first episode this week and I’ve heard good things from chums.
