Added support for Oculus Quest Touch Controllers

  • March 8 update: Perseverance - 8 March 2021

Red Rover has been updated! NASA's Perseverance Rover can now be found on the Jezero Crater map, at Nav Marker 1. Happy driving!

  • Red Rover 2.2 update - 10 June 2019

Today marks the first anniverary of the last signal received from NASA's Opportunity Rover on Mars. To honor a fallen explorer, I've added Opportunity to the Victoria Crater map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL8RRzt7WIo Red Rover’s 2.2 update adds the ability to pilot the Mars Exploration Rover “Opportunity” around Victoria Crater. Follow along and watch as Oppy retraces its path around the rim of the crater, or take control and explore as Opportunity! Our MER has been slightly modified for in-game driving - 20-30 mph top speed, compared to an average of 20 meters/day on good days. Hit the backslash key (‘\’) to see an overlay of Opportunity’s traverse path along the rim of Victoria Crater. Pressing F when in range will transition you from your SherpRover to MER. Happy driving!

  • Red Rover 2.1 update! - 4 March 2019

Small update to add official motion telemetry output support. Much thanks to Icy7CE for technical assist and testing (as well as writing the actual support plugin). You ROCK, sir! To enable telemetry output, open up the main menu and use (or gamepad shoulder buttons) to get to the Additional Settings menu. Enable Motion Telemetry output from there - this option is saved with preferences when you exit so you should only have to do it once. Then, surf over to XSimulator to pick up the motion plugin: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/red-rover-plugin.221/ Good luck and enjoy! Alan

  • Red Rover is now updated to version 2.0! - 5 February 2019

The update build is live now, and contains the following updates: - nine new maps, bringing the total up to 18 available maps. See the update video for a list of the new maps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlrw5XOPXus - rebuilt terrain shader for better close-range visuals and shadow control. Generally, 110% FANCIER! - Blue sunsets! (Martian sunsets are actually blue) - Improved Rover handling and controls This project is and always has been a labor of love. Please let me know if you run into problems and I will do my best to assist! Happy exploring! Alan

  • Red Rover has been updated - 2 July 2018

Build 180701 includes the following changes/features: - control scheme has been updated to be more game-style intuitive. Both driving and flight controls are now on the left control stick (on both the gamepad and the Touch controllers) - orbit controls are now on the right control stick (both gamepad and Touch controllers). This allows vertical control of the external camera as well, and provides new angles of viewing on the terrain - Left stick button (L3) now toggles external/internal camera and right stick button (R3) resets the orbit view - improved braking mechanism to allow for more precise start and stop - updates to the holodeck tutorial to incorporate these changes Enjoy! Alan
