- Frame Rate Fixes! - Update 2.1 - 13 December 2018
This update intends tackle the frame rate issues some entry-spec users have been having! This is an experimental fix and we would love to hear your feedback! So we can enhance and adapt it to suit all use cases! The distance grabbing feature for Oculus users has been temporarily disabled as well, as this showed signs of being part of the problem. If this fixes your frame rate issues then please update your reviews accordingly! PLEASE NOTE: The demo retains all features at the present moment, rolling out a similar fix for the demo soon! It is here! Hit The Hive is ready for release! Before we go any further we would like to thank the thousands of people who have played the demo and supported us through early access! Your continued support means the absolute world to us and we can't thank you enough! You can now play Hit The Hive free of charge in our demo! We care about our customers and we also understand the value of money so we thought it best to provide a demo so that you can try before you buy! There is nothing worse than buying a game to finding out that it's not for you! We don't want anyone to experience that pain ever again! The demo last 10 minutes but you have full access to everything in the game's final release, if you run out of time then you can always play the demo again! - The BIG 2.0! Update 2.0 - 6 July 2018
Well here we are at the big 2.0 build! We can't believe it, this past year has been full of surprises, receiving sponsored development kit from Oculus still has us in shock! This update see the addition of Distance Grabbing allowing you to pick up your weapons from up to 6 foot away! This is great for people with disabilities, people with limited space and generally anyone not looking to bend down if they drop their gun! We have also tweaked the AI a little bit more making them react smoother to gameplay events, we mean they were already pretty damn good to start with but perfection is a moving goal! - Oculus Rift Support Is Here! RIFTERS UNITE! Update 1.9 - 19 June 2018
The time has finally come! Oculus Rift + Touch support is finally available! It has been a long time coming but with sponsorship from Oculus themselves, we have been provided with the hardware and knowledge to bring Hit The Hive to the Rift! - Start Up Screen + Added More Anti-Piracy Measures! Update 1.8 - 8 June 2018
Today marks the release of Update 1.8 which includes a start up screen showing the VoidVR Logo and the added anti-piracy measures! Let's start with the anti-piracy measures, these have ZERO impact on performance or your PC in any way, shape or form, these are merely for detection and prevention purposes! No data is stored on your PC at any point so please rest assured! We would never do that to you! The start up screen is a short period of non-gameplay showing the VoidVR logo and allows you to get your headset on and ready to play before you are transferred smoothly to the Main Menu where play begins! We felt this was a nice touch and gives the game an even more polished feel! Side Note: We are perfectly on schedule for release on the 24th of August! Much Love VoidVR
- Menu Changes + AI Improvements! Update 1.7 - 2 June 2018
Today marks the release of Update 1.7, in this update we have added a couple of items to the Menu level, in the form of a News panel where you will find information about the game and it's progress as well as a Welcome message which also displays your Steam Username (Special Characters/Symbols Are Removed). We have also improved the AI slightly with modifications to their movement speeds and turning resulting in our smoothest AI yet!
- New Enemy Death Effect + Minor Tweaks! Update 1.6 - 21 May 2018
Time for another update! This time we have added a super cool way in which enemies now die! Not only do they fracture in to chunks like before but they also now disintegrate like they are burning up, this gives a beautiful visual style to the whole action of enemy death! On top of this we have also added some minor tweaks to the way the game plays with the main bulk of it being in the Pause feature as we noticed there was an issue that could allow the player to pause the game and then restrict the player to be unable to Unpause it in this rare occasion unless they performed the 'quit to main menu' shortcut on their controllers. - New Weapon Added + Random Attacks On All Levels Now! Update 1.5 - 14 May 2018
Today marks the release of a new close quarters combat weapon for the Crash Site level! It is a semi-automatic SHOTGUN! The shotgun hits like a train and can cut down most enemies where they stand and can even bring larger enemies down to just 35% health in one shot! You are now a force to be reckoned with! We have also now introduced the Random Attacks Feature in to the Arena level and Crash Site level to create intense mid-battle episodes of pure terror! Have fun and we will see you in game! - Overall Update Summary Since Launch - 30 April 2018
So since the release of Hit The Hive in to Early Access we have come a long way, we have added a new level which finds the player on top of the world fighting against a brand new enemy type with their own special game altering effect! The new level also sees the arrival of our new Random Attack feature where the player will find themselves trying to survive against a surprise attack from an assassin bot, designed to wreak havoc mid-battle! We also added Steam Achievements to Hit The Hive along with a few Easter Eggs for good measure! Our biggest milestone however is our overhaul of performance making Hit The Hive even better! We took an already solid framerate and implemented a quality toggle in-game to ensure no less than 90fps even on super entry level spec rigs! This allowed us to open the doors fully to everyone with a VR headset! We are not far from completion to be brutally honest…
- New Level, New Enemies + Random Attack Feature! Update 1.4 - 29 April 2018
We have implemented the fifth level to Hit The Hive along with new enemies and a random attack feature! You will find instant access to this new level via the Menu level! The new level called Platform will see you on top of the world, defending against the brand new flying enemy type complete with their own special effect, coupling this with the new random attack feature for high intensity bursts of action from an assassin bot designed to surprise you and rain down bullets! Will You Survive?!
- Achievements + Easter Eggs! Update 1.2 & 1.3 - 25 April 2018
We now have Steam Achievements! Only a handful to start with but we will be adding more soon and we also have a few more Easter Eggs in game! A total of 3 Easter Eggs reside in the Menu level so have a go at finding them! If you have any suggestions or ideas for Achievements, Easter Eggs or the game in general then please let us know!
- FREE THE FRAMES! Update 1.1 - 18 April 2018
After a successful overhaul of performance we can now offer Hit The Hive to a bigger audience, massive really! Entry level VR rigs all the way through to benchmark crushing monster machines! We now have a quality toggle available in game, which starts by being set at Low as default, this can be pushed up when you are ready and if your rig can handle it! You will see Post Processing effects and Particle systems straight away in game but the best place to see it's effect however is in the Crash Site level which looks stunning on High! This should allow all users from low-end to high-end monster machines a place in the Hit The Hive family!
- Early Access NOW Available! Update 1.0 - 18 April 2018
We are now officially live! It has been a long road coming but here we are, we are extremely excited to finally let you play the first Early Access build of Hit The Hive! Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the sleepless nights, not being at the dinner table for family meals and the very annoying "five more minutes" which always turns in to another hour! Thank you to everyone purchasing, showing love both online and offline! Thank you to you all! As game developers we try our hardest to craft a product and the process of doing this isn't always easy, it isn't always simple and sometimes it isn't even healthy but we do it for you, what drives us is the positive reviews, fans reaching out and sharing experiences with their loved ones.
