Asmodee Digital's video game adaptation of the hugely popular Lovecraft-inspired Mansions of Madness board game series has had something of a rejig, and will now launch on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC under the banner of a different hugely popular Lovecraft-inspired board game series; say hello to Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace. Mansions of Madness: Mother's Embrace was originally announced back in 2018 , with an anticipated release date of Q1 2019. Evidently, that did not come to pass, but it'll now arrive - with its new name and with a new developer, Artefacts Studio, at the helm - next year. Despite the name change, Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace still very much resembles the game that was announced back in 2018 on the surface, although, given the scant gameplay details revealed previously, it's impossible to tell how much has altered under the hood. Asmodee Digital has announced that it's releasing a video game adaptation of the hugely popular Lovecraft-inspired Mansions of Madness board game series , due to launch on PC and Mac in "Q1" next year. Mansions of Madness: Mother's Embrace, as the video game adaptation will be known, is being created by developer Luckyhammers, and takes place within the walls of an unnamed mansion circa 1926. "Everything is not what it seems", says Asmodee, "as the investigators encounter traps, monsters, and other Lovecraftian horrors, and descend deeper into the depths of madness. Will your team solve the mystery and make it out alive?" It's worth noting that Mother's Embrace is a fully fledged video game outing, not to be confused with the Mansions of Madness companion app currently available on Steam. This latter offering is essentially just the AI component required to run the second edition of the…
- Mansions of Madness is getting a proper videogame adaptation - 17 April 2018
Lovecraftian dungeon crawl might not sound like a typical genre to you, but board game Mansions of Madness is an entertaining and spooky romp in the shoes of a short-lived cosmic horror protagonist. A videogame adaptation called Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace was announced today, and this hybrid of the tabletop rules with digital twists is scheduled to release on Steam early next year. Developers Luckyhammers and publisher Asmodee Digital seem quite excited about it, calling it “the next evolution of the iconic game.” The tabletop game is developed by Fantasy Flight Games, which is owned by Asmodee.  Rather than a multiplayer cooperative experience, the new Mansions of Madness seems to be a single player controlling several characters. So far, all we know about the game is that it will center on a group of 1920s investigators exploring a creepy old house…
