- Planetbase 2 - Legacy of Man - 6 June 2026
Hello Everyone! As you might know, we are working on Planetbase 2. This is obviously not Dawn of Man 2, but it's pretty close, as we are borrowing a lot of inspiration from it in terms of gameplayWe hope that people will feel right at home in it, as if coming back to a familiar world, even in a very different setting. This is a recap of what we've done so far.VehiclesPlanetbase 2 will feature a few different vehicles, as with Dawn Of Man, these will help colonists perform their tasks more efficiently.Food productionIn Planetbase 2 you will be able to build a variety of food sources: vegetables, algae, insects and vitromeat. - Planetbase 2 Announcement - 18 March 2025
Hello Everyone, We can now announce that we've started work on Planetbase 2. As much that this is a sequel to the original Planetbase, this is also Dawn of Man's spiritual successor, the theme changes, but the city-builder/RTS/survival concept remains. A ton of features from Dawn of Man like work areas, relative resource limits, direct RTS style commands or storage filters will be making a comeback in Planetbase 2, After 10 years, now the time has come to go back to our origins and revisit the Planetbase idea. We now have the time and resources to expand a concept that we always thought had a lot more potential. We've started work on this about 6 months ago, and we are still very much working out the exact design for the game, but these are the core ideas are focusing on: Real worlds In Planetbase, the planets were inspired by real worlds of the solar system, but we stopped short of cal…

We are looking forward to any feedback. Thanks for supporting Dawn of Man! Martiño.
- Version 1.8.1 released - 14 November 2023
This changes the behavior for non-QWERTY keyboards so it makes more sense, in particular for french AZERTY, there are two options: a) If you set the windows keyboard language to English, the default configuration will just work (you will be able to use the right keys to move the camera around) but the prompts will be wrong. b) If you set the windows keyboard to French, the default configuration will be wrong, but you can remap the keys in the settings and then all the button prompts will be correct. Martiño.
- Version 1.8.0 released - 4 October 2023
Hello Everyone, We've finally managed to spare some time from the development of our new project to release version 1.8.0. The game now runs on the latest Unity stable version (2022.3 ATM). We've been wanting to upgrade for a while, but unfortunately this wasn't a trivial task, as there were some changes in the random and math libraries, that were breaking our procedural map generation. It took us a while, but we got everything sorted out and managed to upgrade. This should provide better compatibility across the board for newer systems. New Grass/Reed rendering Grass and reed details, are now rendered as geometry instead of billboards, and they are also using different shaders to the rest of the terrain details. They now look nicer, provide more coverage, and blend better with the terrain. Terrain Shadows In High and Ultra quality modes, terrain now casts shadows, see the difference in…

- Have You Played… Dawn Of Man? - 12 January 2021
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. In strategy games that cover broad swathes of human history, it’s always a bit sad that the Stone Age is, at best, an early game sideshow – something to be breezed past in a couple of technological leaps on the way to better things. Not so with Dawn Of Man , which concentrates on the various something-lithic periods to the exclusion of everything else. In this game, pointy bits of iron, ploughs and cheese are end-game tech.
