• ULTIMATE SUFFER Steam Deck Compatibility - 13 March 2026

  Hey friends - I hope you all are doing excellent today. I just wanted to let everyone know that despite not being a 'Verified' Steam Deck game, ULTIMATE SUFFER does work flawlessly on the device:ULTIMATE SUFFER is based on the source code for SUFFER 2 which was a Verified Steam Deck game before I de-listed it and merged it with the original SUFFER. SUFFER came out in 2018, way before the Steam Deck so I don't know how long / if ever Valve will consider making it Verified.The Steam Deck was actually my primary testing device during development. I target very low end hardware and ULTIMATE SUFFER runs at a locked 60fps and performance is rock solid. I've even been able to complete a lot of the levels on Brutal difficulty despite me being personally terrible with joystick controls! :) The punk soundtrack actually sounds pretty good on it's speakers, too.   Welcome to Anarchy Softworks where the games release in sketchy-at-best states and the version numbers are made up: ULTIMATE SUFFER has been patched to version 1.1.0! First off I'd like to thank my friends JJ, Josh, and Roman for helping point out some issues with the initial rollout of ULTIMATE SUFFER. This game would be way worse if it weren't for your help, so thank you. This is a minor patch to address a few level balance issues, UI problems, and and fixes for some scripting on a few levels. This version is as stable as I can probably make it. I do not plan any updates in the future, but now that the codebase is all cleaned up I can do so. If you find a game-breaking bug please let me know and I will be as responsive as possible to resolve it. It's been an awesome ride. I hope you enjoy ULTIMATE SUFFER.   Hello Friends! I'm very happy to announce that SUFFER 2 will be released on Friday the 13th! January 13th, 2023 you will be able to purchase your copy of SUFFER 2 on Steam! I've been working really hard on this one - it has many improvements over the original game. SUFFER 2 has more weapons, more enemies, better AI, better graphics and effects, an entirely new soundtrack, and it is just a way more polished product.   Hey friends! I'm happy to announce that SUFFER works great on Valve's Steam Deck! I've spent a bit of time updating the official artwork to support the Steam Deck and I feel pretty good about how it looks in my Library. There won't be any additional updates for this game as I've moved onto development of the sequel, but I'm happy to see new hardware bring life to this old game! The "pick up and play" nature of SUFFER's short, action-packed levels make it a great game to play on the go or just a quick level or two on the couch. I'm surprised by how well it plays with Valve's handheld controls, especially since I'm a keyboard/mouse kind of guy!
