- Shadows of Doubt Dev Blog 46 - 10 August 2026
Hi Detectives, it’s time for a new Dev update from me!To start off we’re working on a patch at the moment for Shadows of Doubt that should be out before the end of August that is going to feature a couple of quality of life improvements and updates. The first change that we’ve implemented is the ability to turn off certain killer types that you may or may not like. I know a lot of people weren’t keen on the kidnapping cases or didn’t want to deal with the sniper cases so you can now turn them off. Or alternatively, only play them if that’s what you want to do. This is an update that will be available on all platforms. The second big change we’ve been working on is some changes to the way objectives work that have previously caused a lot of confusion. The way objectives work at the moment, and have always worked in the game, is that when you get a case the case questions will appear as obje…

So I haven't really been doing many developer updates, not in this format, for a while now, since Shadows was kind of still in the design phase, really. Mostly because there's not really a lot to talk about when you're just kind of fixing things like it's not... It's not really a topic of conversation. It's not really very interesting. It's just like, oh, yeah, we just need to get this done. So apologies for the lack of interesting updates. But I'm hoping that will change this year a little bit. We'll see. We'll see. There's nothing to announce in this blog, unfortunately, but we are certainly moving in that…

- Shadows of Doubt's hilarious new modifiers let you play as a wall-crawling rat detective and evade a killer snail - 21 September 2025
I didn't think there were many ways to make Shadows of Doubt a better detective game—aside from giving the whole thing a vigorous polish. ColePowered Games' sleuthing simulator procedurally generates an entire city's worth of crimes to solve, somehow creating genuine deduction puzzles out of a bucketful of random numbers. Granted, it also tends to create a lot of bugs and dead ends in the process. But when Shadows of Doubt works, it's one of the best games ever made... Read more.

- Shadows of Doubt DevBlog 43: What to Expect in 2025 - 5 February 2025
Hello detectives! This is a follow-up blog from the last one where I discussed new content for Shadows in 2025. We have fleshed out some plans now and I wanted to share a little on what we're working on for the game this year. If you haven't already, I recommend reading the last blog post for some content: Mainly that we have decided to not add anything massive as to do so would likely cause issues with the game systems we've already spent a lot of time working on over early access & beyond. With that in mind, let us jump in! What I do want to focus on this year in addition to more bug fixes is giving the game a new coat of polish. These content-focused updates will arrive in 3 instalments, roughly spaced out over the year with exact timings still to be decided at this point. For the first update, we're going to be adding a couple of things that we ran out of time to include in the init…

- Shadows of Doubt Devblog #42: Looking Forwards - 10 December 2024
Hello detectives! It’s been a couple of months since the launch of 1.0 and I wanted to share a general update to talk about what you can expect next year. First off, I’m extremely pleased to announce that Shadows of Doubt is part of this year’s Jingle Jam games bundle; a fundraising initiative with a collection of games available for donations over £35. All money goes to some excellent causes. This ends on December 14th, so be quick about it! On the dev team side, we’ve been mostly keeping our head down and working on resolving bugs. We’re finding we’re currently solving around ~15 issues per patch, with patches coming about every 3 or 4 weeks. As we’ve been prioritising more serious bugs, the number of those is coming down. Our main priority will be to continue with these next year and give the game the polish it deserves. We found throughout early access that adding something ‘big’ to…
- You can grab Shadows Of Doubt, Citizen Sleeper and more in Jingle Jam’s 2024 bundle, and support eight worthy causes - 4 December 2024
"Bestest best?! We’ll have that!" is how I imagine detective immersive sim Shadows Of Doubt made it on the roster for the Jingle Jam 2024 charity bundle. "RPS have never steered us wrong before!" they said, thus cementing our reputation as the most selflessly heroic gaming website, seven years running. What we can’t take credit for, however, is the 1.2 million quid they’ve raised already. If you want to make that number bigger, you can pick up the bundle here , and get 19 Steam keys for your trouble with a minimum donation of £35. 19 is such an annoying number in terms of the page layout that I’m almost convinced to never give to charity again, but there are some very nice games, including the aforementioned Shadows Of Doubt, Dungeons And Degenerate Gamblers , Citizen Sleeper , Another Crab’s Treasure , Two Point Campus , and Deathsprint 66 .
