This update isn't quite complete yet - it's being pushed early since the social update is so far behind schedule. The remaining content will be finished incrementally over the coming weeks alongside some other minor features. NEW FEATURES: - NPCs now have a heart icon to display their friendship level. (Prior to this update, friendship was accrued by talking to them and completing their requests, so if you've been playing your file for a while you probably have some friendship levels already.) - You can now give gifts to increase friendship, which is performed by equipping the item and talking to them, the same way that you deliver requests. Requests are prioritized. Each NPC can be given one gift a week (a bit flexible); if you try to give them something they don't like, they'll simply refuse it and it won't count towards the limit. - A context icon for interacting with NPCs has added, ...
