* Unfortunately, due to software idiosyncrasies, this version is not backward compatible with any previous R2 saves. * Named tribes have now been placed in their correct geographical locations on the map. This is not merely a cosmetic change, it enhances gameplay when playing as an ethnologist and, (to a lesser degree), a journalist. Although misplaced tribes were part of the Avalon Hill version of the board game mechanics (on which the digital version is based), it was too easy to gain victory points by discovering a variety of named tribes which were randomly placed anywhere on the map. The player now has to seek out tribes within their proper locations and may struggle to discover particular tribes if luck and conditions aren't right. E.g. Pygmy tribes inhabit a small area east of Calabar and northeast of the mouth of the Congo and ONLY if the area is jungle. Some of this area is also...
