BAD NEWS FIRST I have run into serious technical issues regarding Unity. There appears to be an issue with the way Unity 2019 and newer handles their D3D11 swapchain that causes the Editor to produce a fatal error and hard crash. From my research the problem seems to have been present since late 2019, with many developers experiencing the same issue till present day. This started affecting CARNAL when I was busy creating the latter levels for EP3. The crashes started to appear out of the blue today and can be reproduced whenever I try to calculate light mapping data or when I use the tools for creating level geometry. What that practically means is I cannot create or modify levels, which includes Episode 1 and 2, without crashing Unity.
