Ship sets are groupings of themed ships and the standard set is simply the set available at start of game. All the ships of the standard set feature well balanced builds e.g. stats are distributed evenly across offence, defence and mobility features. Additional ship sets will be introduced in later patches and each set will feature its own theme both in terms of build stats and in visual style.
