Impasto? Yeah, I could eat. Or rather, impasto is the effect of using very thick paint on the canvas to create a textured look. I have updated the paint visuals to be much thicker, giving you the option to create rich texture on your canvas. If you like to keep it flat, you can always use less paint, flatten the thick paint with any tool, or use the slider in Settings > Painting. While this in itself is a great new feature, the main driver behind it was the ability for achieving better Bob Ross style foliage - i.e. tapping in happy little bushes. The two inch brush is now rounded, the one inch oval brush doesn't leave a circle mark, and tapping in leaves and bushes gives you a very nice textured look, rather than the sort of rectangular muddiness you've had up to now when using the 2 inch.
