- Working through the back log - 4 September 2026
Still stretching along the final stretch of this game. I've been going through the back log of minor bugs and missing content. I've some annoying visual issues in Cave dungeons that have been there a bit too long. The UI is also spruced up a tiny bit with some sounds, giving interactions a bit more polish. There's also a *potential* fix for crashes related to cloth physics. If you've disabled cloth physics (likely because I told you to due to crashes), it would be interesting to know if re-enabling the feature sill crashed or not. There's still more to do with the UI sounds that will be filled out in the next update or so too. 0.9.4 Prevent multiple dungeon decor from being placed in the same location Lighting and various mesh fixes in Caves A few new interactive dungeon objects Fix Weak status text description Potential fix for cloth physics UI audio tweaks
- Another round of tweaks and tune-ups - 31 July 2026
Some core changes to how status effects stack - they don't! Stacking effect duration could end up being exploited (unlimited bless or regen) and could also cause so fairly unbalanced battles (bleeding forever). Instead status effects will be set to a max duration. This patch also has a number of balance tweaks, such as fixing a problem where starting equipment might be made of a material your character had trouble wielding. Finally some long standing bugs related to tool tips have been addressed, plus a number of missing tool tips have been added to both item usage screens and towns. Version 0.9.3 change log: Adjust world level scaling, a more even ramp of dungeon levels Status effect duration no longer stacks Larger enemies are more powerful Equipment material levels adjusted Starting equipment quality adjusted Fix issue where the wrong tool tip would be displayed Tool tips for usable…
- The balancing continues - 23 June 2026
Equipment ability requirements have been changed significantly, making equipment requirements higher across the board. This means stronger equipment will be difficult to use effectively for your non-melee and less effective. Monster equipment has also been fixed (yes, monsters have equipment!) and adjusted to level properly. The main effect is a bit less variance in monster stats and lower level monsters are a bit weaker. The end result puts melee damage back to where it was around 0.9.0. Also the tooltip for character stats is now fixed so you can get a better idea of how a players ATK or DEF stats are derived. Version 0.9.2 brings: Fix Treasure Hunter moment text Numerous tweaks to status effect visuals Stat tooltips now show details (again) Adjust monster equipment properly per-level Adjust item power levels (up) Tune equipment attribute requirements and requirement scaling
- Follow up to the 0.9 build - 30 May 2026
Unfortunately the more changes you make the more chance you have to break things. This patch has some UI updates, but mostly is a bunch of fixes for things that broke in the last few updates. Thanks to everyone who reported issues, filed bugs, and put up with an unfinished game! Version 0.9.1 changes: Building tabs now have tool tips Custom game settings now have tool tips Re-adjust building addition level requirements Fix status skill not reporting remaining turn duration correctly Fix hang when certain status effects were inflicted during combat (bleed, poison, etc)
- Just a minor patch - 21 May 2026
A few bugs slipped through the cracks plus a minor UI tweak. Changes for 0.9.0.1: Confirmation dialog added to job training Fixed blessed status tooltip Fix "Cancel Selection" not disappearing
- The beginning of the end! - 20 May 2026
Finally version 0.9.0! It has taken years to get here but finally the end is really in sight. From here on out the focus will be on polishing the current experiences - adjusting balance issues, fixing all the bugs, tuning the gameplay and adding all the little polish and details that need fixing. This change is the first large re-balance of the gameplay in a long time. Combat damage has been adjusted, generally you should find magic more powerful as well as higher levels monsters (especially bosses!) The economy has been tweaked too - building additions and upgrades have all been adjusted as well as the selling price of equipment. With a game of this scope it can be difficult to ensure that big changes like these don't unbalance the game, so let me know how the plays! Changes in 0.9.0: Adjust magic base damage and variance Defend skill now adds dodge, separate status from Shield skill F…
- Just a minor fix - 20 April 2026
Status skill damage variation was not set correctly, this patch restores the damage ranges to something more reasonable.
- Move it! Move it! - 16 April 2026
The 0.8.x series up update is getting very close to the end - that means the game is getting close to being feature complete, which is pretty exciting to me! Players can now move through allied towns in the same fragment, effectively teleporting between them. This should help you move faster through the world on larger maps. This update fixes some issues with status effects not scaling with character attributes among other fixes listed below. Version 0.8.14: Players can now travel through towns on the same map for faster traversal Status effects (for example regeneration) now scale with attribute Fix bug where player could sometimes disappear from world map. Next Town button is now a town selection button Quest info should open to quest log not stats Healing and magic tonics, potions, tinctures and elixirs can now be found in dungeons
- Back after a short break - 31 March 2026
I had a short break and it took a while to get back into a rhythm for updates. This update isn't that large, new status icons and tool tips are the most impactful changes. Of course there's the regular set of fixes and minor improvements. I still have a few more features to complete the in 0.8.x series but things are looking up! Please continue to suggest improvements in the forums or by the bug report button. Version 0.8.13: Status icons updated Status icons now give some information about the duration, affect, etc. Fix some typos Fix Elemental Aura not applying resistance properly Fix for hang after cancelling some skills Fix bug where using item on an empty profile could cause issues Re-enable party wide auto attack in addition to individual control Fix Earth cave giving Air resistance Fix Ranger's camp dialog/quest status
- Item upgrades! - 24 February 2026
The latest update adds some new item modifies - attribute boosting enchantments - and also reworks item generation to prefer stronger enchantments over more enchantments. This should reduce the amount of low-power equipment found. A few quality of life changes to the battle gauges, it should now be a bit more obvious which player is waiting for commands. This release is getting me pretty close to the end of the 0.8.x series of updates, which means I consider the game almost feature complete right now. Is there a feature missing? Have you requesting something and it hasn't been added, I can't promise anything extra but now is the time to ask (or remind me!) Version 0.8.11 changes: Active player gauge blinks and highlights Improved targeting indicator on world item usage Added more equipment modifiers Adjusted item generation to prefer less but more powerful modifiers Fix some world sound…
- Quick patch to fix some issues in the last release. - 10 February 2026
Version 0.8.10.1 Fix Druid's resist elements level Fix item targeting on the world map
- Fixes and more - 8 February 2026
This update fixes a game braking bug related to item use. There is also a new interface for auto attacking, making it per-player setting rather than a global option. Let me know what you think! Version 0.8.10: Fix monsters not fading on death properly Fix randomized faces not properly applying settings Auto attack is not per-player and saved properly Fix hang when using items
- Updated skills and more - 30 January 2026
This update a few usability tweaks and lots of fixes and improvements to skill descriptions. Many skills now show more information about exactly they affect your characters. Step by step I'm fixing all the little gaps and unfinished features, and I'll try and keep up this steadier pace of updates. I have a long back log of issues to address and am trying to focus on broken or missing features before I move on to balance and polish chagnes. Version 0.8.9 brings: Fix many, many skill tool tips Add building info dialog from more town screens Fix for Light Pillar acting as undead Fix Sword Export not applying property Fix equipment based skills not showing stats in certain cases Adjust Riposte success rate Fix Elemental Affinity skills not applying bonus correctly Fix Enchanted Staff elemental damage
- Stats and more! - 16 January 2026
One of the systems I added early on was tracking player stats - number of kills, skills used, etc. - but I never got around to fully integrating the system, until now! Existing games will not have a complete set of stats as only a few were tracked properly, but they'll still update as you continue your games. You can see the summary from the quest dialog (the (?) button) or an individual character's stats from their status screens. Let me know what you think! This patch also has a few quality of life improvements related to sorting equipment by added hit points, plus the usual round-up of bug fixes. I'm hoping to continue my ~fortnightly update pace for as long as I can and keep the momentum up until the game is done! Add HP column to equipment screens Fix issue where some recruits had no available job Game stats are now visible for the game (from the quest screen) and for each characte…
- New year new update! - 4 January 2026
Ringing in 2026 - the year I really and truly hope to leave early access - with a new update! The 0.8.x set of updates will continue for a while, but not that much longer I hope. My goal before moving on to the 0.9.x updates is to make sure all features are working as intended, fix all known major bugs and basically have the game work as intended. Let me know what you think of the new save game layout - it's meant to be easier to use with lots of save games. Version 0.8.7 includes: Update save and load game dialog Fix issue with pressing the move key when stance selection is open Mouse look turning now acts as a normal move Minor dungeon art tweaks Character portrait customization now has proper names
- Version 0.8.6 is now out - 14 December 2025
Another round of bug fixes, huge shout out to everyone who's been submitting bug reports in game or on the forums. I've been working my way through the back log of reported bug, so expect a few more bug fix updates over the next few weeks. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up this weekly update cadence, but I'll try! Fix some origin story text UI fix for heroes with lots of history Fix Family Crypt quest from giving rewards multiple times Prevent bosses from spawning on invalid tiles Fix Adventure skill icons Fix issue where moving across portals could hang the game
- Perks and more - 8 December 2025
Version 0.8.5 is now out, this update adds over 30 new hero starting traits that give each hero a bit more background and even some small bonuses. Also added are "moments" - events in a hero's history added when they participate in special quests or in-game events.
- One more round of fixes... - 22 November 2025
I was going to wait until I had the next half-finished feature completed - in this case the hero origin stories and associated bonuses - but in the meantime ended up with enough fixes that it seemed worth pushing a release. I also want to try and keep semi-regular updates even if no major features are completed. There's nothing major in this release - just a set of fixes and minor improvements - but still another step forward to completion. The next release should round out the hero creation stories. After that will be hero moments - special perks earned by heroes during their adventures, like completing dungeons or quests. Finally a big thank you for everyone who has been filing bugs and providing feedback! Version 8.4 Prevent clicking on movement buttons interacting with the world Fix for cloth physics settings not always applying properly Fix issue where dungeon map would not show ex…
- Maps and more - 11 November 2025
Another step forwards - this update brings fixes for some long standing bugs (missing heads!) as wells as some improvements to the dungeon mapping by adding cauldrons and treasure. Anvils should now also always be an upgrade to equipment, not a re-mix of existing items. Version 0.8.3: Building info screen has more details Fix the occasional headless portrait Tweak Next Town zoom speed Anvil, cauldron and treasure now show up on the dungeon map Fix for cauldron and other object that reset after load/re-enter Anvil upgrades equipment material rather than regenerating
- Building overview and more! - 31 October 2025
The latest update brings a long overdue and much requested feature: A building overview screen. This screen shows all the upgrades, additions and even the details about the jobs that can be trained, all in one screen. Currently this is available when you construct new buildings. This update also some long due fixes to some minor work graphics tweaks, and fixes for river graphics and terrain bugs, especially where multiple rivers would intersect. Plus a few UI fixes, town audio tweaks, missing icons and a few minor text bugs.
