- The Hello to Arms Update is Now Live! - 13 November 2020
Edit 2020-11-23: We released another small patch today with bug fixes, see full notes here! Hey there Gungeoneers, As some of you may know, we have been hard at work on a major update to Exit the Gungeon focused on improving options for player choice, and to make the gun-switching system more enjoyable. Today we are excited to announce that this update, which we are calling “Hello to Arms,” is now available. Hello to Arms introduces the following changes: Arsenal Mode The player’s starting gun will continue to function as it does now; ever-changing based on combo, with infinite ammo. However, the player will also be able to acquire ”un-blessed” weapons, from chests or shops, with finite but refillable ammo, that they can bank and switch to and from at any time. You are able to see your Blessed weapon at all times, so you can switch back to it if it takes the form of something you like,…
- Hello to Arms Beta (Now Live!) - 23 July 2020
EDIT 2020-07-28: We released a new hotfix today with more bug fixes; for full patch notes please see this post! Hey there Gungeoneers, We have been hard at work on some fairly major changes to Exit the Gungeon based on your feedback. The gun-switching based on combo level (or “Blessed” runs) proved to be fairly divisive, and while we know we cannot please everyone, we believe that we owed it to the game and to you to try and reconcile that division. We hope that we have come up with a path forward that makes the game better for all players, including those who liked the “Blessed” run system. We are calling this collection of changes “Hello to Arms.” Arsenal Mode The player’s starting gun will continue to function as it does now; ever-changing based on combo, with infinite ammo. However, the player will also be able to acquire ”un-blessed” weapons, from chests or shops, with finite but r…

- Patch Notes (2.0.5) - 24 March 2020
Hey Gungeoneers, We’ve got another patch for you tonight with more control options, game improvements, and plenty of bug fixes. As always, keep the feedback and reports coming at our support form, and see the full patch notes below! We’ve seen a number of reports about Steam achievements not unlocking correctly, so we wanted to address a few here. The No Link Cable Required achievement was unlockable but wasn’t unlocked at the correct time, which is fixed in this patch. The previous patch also corrected the number of rescuable NPCs, which is 12 (but previously showed as 14 in the Steam interface). The character-specific win achievements require you to that character *and* that character’s route; we’ll be updating the text of those achievements to make this more clear soon! Also, while it seems like many of you liked the new control options that went into the last build, some of you foun…
- Patch Notes (2.0.4) - 21 March 2020
Hey Gungeoneers, We just released a new patch today, primarily focused on balance tweaks and control options based directly on your feedback. These include changes to the combo system, new jump and dodge options, cursor customization, an optional controller cursor and support for manual reloads. Thanks as always for your feedback; please continue to provide feedback and bug reports here, and see the full patch notes below! 2.0.4 Patch Notes Balance Changes Reduced the amount of combo points required to reach early levels (0-10), and increased the points required to reach later levels (12-20). This should allow players to recover more quickly from a combo wipe, but requires the same amount of combo points to reach level 20. Did another balance pass on charged weapons; some were too slow or weak to be viable, especially in later floors. Additionally, tapping the Shoot button no longer fir…
- Patch Notes (2.0.3) - 20 March 2020
Hey Gungeoneers, Just wanted to provide another small patch tonight with some balance and control tweaks we’ve been working on. The immediate focus for us over the next few days is continued balance, QOL improvements and new control options (including a combined jump/dodge button, controller cursor option, and cursor customizations). As always, please keep providing feedback here, and see the full patch notes below! 2.0.3 Patch Notes Gameplay Changes / Improvements Added an Aim To Fire option: this allows controller users to fire just by aiming with the right stick, rather than requiring aiming and a separate Fire button Added an Auto-Descend option: this allows players to drop down through platforms by using the down key, rather than requiring Jump + Down Buffed the Charge Shot and Blunderbuss Decreased enemy/boss health slightly on all levels but the first Reduced the combo cost of us…
- A Note From Dodge Roll - 19 March 2020
Hey there Gungeoneers, On Tuesday we released Exit the Gungeon on PC and Switch, the bite-sized spin-off to our first game Enter the Gungeon. With XTG we took the opportunity to make a smaller, more arcade, more immediate game that we hoped Gungeon fans would enjoy, where we could build and test a new set of dev tools to be able to deliver better, more performant, more stable games, faster. Many of you have survived Enter the Gungeon release days on various platforms, and may even know that one of the reasons we halted development on it was due to the headache of working in an increasingly brittle engine. We wanted to give Gungeoneers something new to play, relatively quickly, without having to go back to square one. Exit the Gungeon is the result of those efforts, and its release has been by far the most stable and most performant release we have put out, while also showcasing a number…
- Patch Notes (2.0.2) - 19 March 2020
Gameplay Changes / Improvements Charged weapons now automatically begin charging whenever they’re equipped; discharge them by pressing (or releasing) the fire button. This means you can continue to press and hold fire to use charged weapons (like in ETG), or if you just repeatedly press the fire button, they will shoot when ready Fixed an issue where some guns could be fired faster than intended when the fire button was pressed rapidly, which caused both game imbalance and cramped trigger fingers Added interaction outlines to the doorways in the Marine’s second elevator to indicate that the player needs to enter a room to continue When in a windowed mode, the mouse cursor now locks to the window unless the pause menu is open Improved makeshift cannon and sling, especially against bosses Changed the names of many guns to match their ETG counterparts Casey will reflect ownerless projectil…
