- Gym Tycoon will be removed from sale - 28 August 2024
Hey there gym owners, As you might have noticed, there has been no update to Gym Tycoon since 2021. Unfortunately, back then I ran out of both money and inspiration as I struggled to make the project a fun experience. For the last three years I have had some hope that some day I would find the inspiration and motivation to continue working on the project, but now I must make the painful decision that day has not and will not come. For this reason, I am retiring Gym Tycoon from sale. Players that have purchased the game should continue to be able to play it. Players that have recently purchased the game are free to refund it according to Steam terms. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Completely redid the applicant system. Applicants will now walk to your reception for a membership. You can set an Intake Policy in the customer menu. Added a speech bubble system. You can now see conversations performed at the reception desk. Also used if a person can't reach something or can't find something. Bugfixes Fixed customers sometimes walking through the front door 3 times when entering. Fixed bug where 2 days are skipped if you hit spacebar while the first night is skipped. Hey there gym owners! It's been a while since the last update, so let's do another one! In this dev update, I will talk about the new preview branch and what to expect for the upcoming 0.9 update! Hey all! Today's update brings a couple of bugfixes and improvements to the navigation AI and other things. If you were having problems with gym members not being able to reach something or people getting stuck in small rooms, this update should address that! Changelog Bugfix: Fixed navigation errors that would appear when a door is placed to a very small room. Bugfix: Fixed collision and navmesh issues caused by environment objects not hiding properly. - Update 0.8.2 - 11 March 2021
This hotfix update fixes another crash that can occur when expanding you gym in build mode. For those interested, here's what went wrong: In 0.8.0, a couple of bugs were introduced in the wall building system. When you place down new walls, it is possible that an existing wall is split up into two pieces. Similarly, when you remove a wall piece, sometimes two remaining walls can be joined again into a single piece. During this process the things attached to the walls (paintings, doors etc.) are moved from the old walls to the new walls. Unfortunately, it seemed that both merging and splitting the walls, the old items were not unregistered properly. This would cause a crash at a later point in time, as these old registrations would eventually get "garbage collected" (a process of cleaning up unused resources). It's been two months since the last major update and we haven't been sitting still! Curious what has changed? Read on! This Update The original plan for this update was to add staff and a player character to the game. However, we decided the gym rating needed some attention first. The first new feature we added is research. Research is the new way to unlock more gym equipment and features. We also went ahead and implemented cheap and expensive furniture variants. More expensive equipment improves skills faster! Next, we simplified what was left of the 5-star 'Gym Rating' system into a score-based 'Gym Score' system. We hope this new system is easier to understand. Another new feature is land expansion. You can now buy additional land to further expand your gym! G'day! It's been a while since 0.7 has been released, and work is well underway for Gym Tycoon 0.8. I waited a bit longer this time before giving you guys a progress update. To make up for that, this time I can include some work-in-progress images! ːsteamhappyː Small change of plans So the goal of last 0.7 update was to improve the game's average play time by adding more furniture & equipment content to the game. While this kind of worked, I wasn't totally satisfied with the result. I had a chat with my brother (he has been pulling me through hard times, I really appreciate him for all the times he is helping me) and took a good critical look at the game to find out what needs most attention. In the original plan for 0.8 I wanted to get started on adding employees to the game, but we both agreed that the current "progression system" is flawed by design and needed improvements. When you…

While this update might be minor, a lot of things have been improved under the hood to ensure future Gym Tycoon updates can keep coming out fast! Furthermore, two new music tracks have been added and performance of the game has been greatly improved, especially if your gym contains a lot of lights! It's time for another minor update, this one focusses on a couple of quality-of-life improvements like the ability to hide walls and ceiling items. It's been roughly a month since the last update of Gym Tycoon. I've worked hard to get the next update ready for you all to enjoy, so let's get right into it! This Update I've been calling this update the "Content Update" for a while now. It is the first step in making the game more enjoyable to play for a longer time. This update brings a lot more furniture to the game, including 6 new exercise machines and 8 decorative items. One major technical task I had to do was to add support to walls to allow attaching items on them (like the new paintings, mirror and TV). This refactor should also fix a rare crash bug that could happen when demolishing walls.
