  Some minor updates to both the FULL and DEMO versions of Squirmish. Improved bot behavior re: SHAVING CREAM Bot players have always been pretty stupid with APEBEARD's SHAVING CREAM ability. That ability blocks first time attackers from attacking APEBEARD. Players with APEBEARD in their initial hand could take advantage of this weakness by playing APEBEARD as starter and never playing another card. This usually led to an easy victory as the bots stubbornly prioritized not attacking their own cards and ended up skipping every attack. With this change, bots will now better recognize this situation and start attacking friendly cards to get around SHAVING CREAM. Fixed issues with CAT BURGLAR stealing SOO-EER or DEFIBRILLATOR SWINI's SOO-EER and DR. DEVIL M.D.'s DEFIBRILLATOR are both activated abilities that allow you to fish a card from a pile. • Squirmish Patch 0.3.29 (Early Access) - 20 March 2025

  A quick update to the card Kooga's ability, NINE LIVES. Whenever Kooga is knocked out, it's special ability NINE LIVES, does a die roll, and on a roll of 4-6, Kooga is fully healed rather than knocked out. Usually this works fine, but after Kooga is saved from a natural knock out, it will periodically perform the NINE LIVES roll again when it's not called for. While this generally does not break the game, it is an annoying little bug, and now it's fixed. (Most knock outs occur when a card drops to zero HP. A natural knock out happens when an attack explicitly says KNOCK OUT. Groxny's CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE, and Mr, Bottoms's PREPARATION ACHE are two examples.) This fix was included in updates to both the FULL version and the DEMO version.

• Squirmish Patch 0.3.28 (Early Access) - 10 March 2025

  A quick update with some minor changes. Changes: Fixed a bug that was causing Rogues' Gallery opponents to play at a weaker level than intended. (This was partially fixed in the last update, but now it covers all rogue bots.) Polished the preload of greeter characters (the ones that appear on the home page) so that the don't blink in late after the home page is revealed. This fixes were included in updates for both the FULL version and the DEMO version.

  New flexible and customizable PvP experience This update introduces Custom Clash, a new casual PvP experience for Squirmish: The Videogame. Online Multiplayer is not new to Squirmish, and indeed, battling against other worthy human opponents is likely the most challenging and fun way to play. However, we've found that our existing PvP offerings, Matchmaking and Fight a Friend, are not yet creating enough opportunities for players to find timely PvP matchups. In practice, a skill-based pairing system like Matchmaking needs a sizable community to function effectively and during Early Access ramp up, our player base is not yet big enough to reliably fuel the Matchmaking queue. Also, Matchmaking necessarily limits play to a minimal set of play formats at any one time.
