- Capitalism and Economy Fest - 8 January 2024
Game Dev Masters has been invited to participate in the "Capitalism and Economy Fest" running from Jan 8th to Jan 15th. I was honored that steam recognized this game as a good candidate for the sale, and because I know economic gamers out there love a good deal. We are coming in with our biggest sale to date at 75% off. There has never been a better time to check out the very positively reviewed tycoon game, that has many players putting in 100's of hours into the competitive ladders. With the ability to grow you're company from a one man studio into a giant conglomerate of AAA studios, the economy is real. We even have a made up crypto market you can gamble you're money into, as well as the ability to publish other studios games, acquire and train studios under you're studio, and much much more. I hope the economic game lovers out there give the game a chance, and don't forget there is…
- Removed Halloween Decorations - 20 November 2023
The Halloween decorations have all been removed and replaced with the original visuals for all four offices.
- Halloween Event - 1 October 2023
Happy Halloween All four offices have had a visual update to include scary particle effects, spooky animations, and horrific vista views. This event will run until November. At which time we will remove the Halloween visuals, and return to the original office visuals. There have also been a few small balance changes, reality topic match changes, and some translation improvements.
- Changes, additions, and improvements - 7 May 2023
Over the past couple of months we have had some great feedback coming in. These range from suggestions about changes, additions, tweaks, and general quality of life improvements. It is now time to take those great ideas and turn them into a reality inside the game. There are a bunch of minor changes and tweaks that players can just experience for themselves, but I would like to highlight a few changes that have larger impact on the game. These include; - Added logic to bankruptcy checks. Bankruptcy will now take a greater look at your company before issuing bankruptcy. Such as, stocks, monthly income, available contracts, and more. I tested the idea of extended bankruptcy time from 2 months to 6 months, but that combined with the improved logic felt a bit to easy. So, for now I have left it at 2 months post warning for bankruptcy to occur. Let me know how the new bankruptcy feels for pl…
- A better quality of life - 31 January 2023
I hope everyone is having a great 2023 so far. With this new patch I know that GDM is starting off 2023 in a great place with major quality of life changes coming into the game. A big thank you to several players for their recent feedback, and suggestions about issues that we can and have changed to help streamline the experience for players of all skill levels. There have been several menu changes and tweaks. Some of this was pure game polish changes, but some changes were made to streamline the over-all experience as well. This also includes some translation changes to help tighten up the game for multiple languages. We have added several pop-up warnings for activities that could confuse players into making mistakes. Things such as creating a console with less hardware power then the current year requires to ensure sales. Instead of just letting players make these mistakes, some messa…
- New Year / New Season - 1 January 2023
First off Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope you had a great holiday season. Today marks the start of a new season of play, as well as we have crowned the 2022 retail champion for GDM. Congratulations to "ZoneWalker" for becoming the 2022 retail champion. This player has not only dominated the boards in our championship season, but they have provided lots of feedback and German translation improvements to improve the game. A well-deserved victory, and I appreciate all of your support in the past year. You can find "ZoneWalker" permanently listed in the Hall of Fame alongside of EA champion DyCart Gaming. On top of crowning the new champion, the top 10 scores from each leader board have been recorded into the hall of fame for everyone to see. All leader boards with the exception of the "Hard Mode" board have now been reset, and only new saves created after Jan / 01 / 2023 will be eli…
- Quality improvements and a friendly reminder - 24 November 2022
This small patch fixes a few minor issues found by the community. Big shout out to "FireSloth" for finding a few spelling, grammar, and rounding issues that have slipped by, and to "ZoneWalker" for his reports on balance, and translation assistance. Patch Contents - Spelling and grammar fixes. - Translation improvements. - Fixed a rounding issue causing workers at 100% to be over worked. This is now 101%. - Decreased the difficulty to achieve "Game Of The Year" in Hard Mode a little bit. - Lowered the review strictness by a small amount in Hard Mode - Reduced the reduction made to AAA games in Hard Mode - Fixed a rounding issue that could cause an issue to flag a correct % as to low or to high. - Changed a few text messages to be more concise. - Tweaked a few difficulty scaling differences - Cleaned up some redundancies to optimize the game overall Just as a reminder to everyone. The cu…
- Removed Halloween Decorations and Fixes - 2 November 2022
I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I have now gone ahead and removed all the Halloween visuals from each office. This small patch also contains a few tweaks, changes, and fixes. Including several improvements to multiple translations. A huge thank you to everyone for there amazing reports, and I hope you guys have a great rest of the year. Remember that the current season of play will run until Dec 31. At that time we will crown the 2022 retail champions who will be permanently featured along side our EA champion Dycart. Good luck to everyone, and please note any future patches this year will not reset the ladder. That will happen Jan 01 for a fresh season in the new year.
- GDM Halloween - 7 October 2022
Happy Halloween to everyone We have added in some festive visuals for Halloween. These visual changes have no impact on the game other than bringing a Halloween vibe to each office. These visuals can be found in every office, and even come with a few particle effects and animations. This seasonal update is available in both the full and demo version of the game. Have a great and safe Halloween this year, and enjoy the visuals. This update will be removed in early November and the normal office visuals will return.
- Hot Fix number 2 - 4 October 2022
Just a few quick fixes related to the GDM 1.4 update - Fixed an issue with the max a hype campaign milestone not firing correctly - Fixed an issue with the trailers on IGM market campaign that caused hype to go from 50-40-60 instead of the correct 40-50-60 - Fixed an issue with the Genre window being squished in German translations - Fixed a few errors in the German translation This should be the final hot fix needed for the 1.4 patch. However, things happen. Shout out to TechEnthusiast and ZoneWalker for there great feedback.
- 1.4 Hot Fix - 2 October 2022
Just quick hot fix to fix a couple small issues that were found, and 1 larger issue relating to engines. Shout out to TechEnthusiast for the report. Commercial engines once they made AI sales would no longer be usable by the player when making games, and this also caused an issue with engine deconstruction. This is now fixed and should be working correctly. There may be another hot fix soon if any additional issues are found, if not then the next update will be the Halloween Update as planned, but we will hot fix anything necessary.
- Update 1.4 is Live~! - 1 October 2022
New Season First off today marks the beginning of the next season of play. All the top 10 players in each leader board have been added to the "Hall Of Fame" and the boards have been reset. Older game saves can still be continued, but only fresh saves made after Oct / 01 / 2022 have the ability to post scores to the current season's leader boards. This next season will run until the end of this year, and the winners will be crowned as the 2022 release champions, and be featured along our EA champion Dycart. Thanks to some amazing help from players such as DoorFail, Brandon, and Copendub from discord, I feel the game is in a really good place issue wise. Provided there are no major issues in the 1.4 update I did not catch myself. I am very confident in the current games balance, and I believe there are no current exploits. We have had a few exploits that were found that caused issues with…
- German Translation Fix - 22 August 2022
Yesterday when I imported new translations for the German language, I broke the translation. Many special characters were replaced with question marks. This has been re-done and patched. I am very sorry to everyone for any inconvenience.
- Announcing This Seasons End Date - 21 August 2022
Hey there gamers; The current championship season will end on September 30. At that time the new champions will be crowned, and the top 10 players from each leader board will be recorded into the "Hall Of Fame" to forever show their dominance over the game and its player base. You have until that day to post new high-scores. On October 1 we will launch update 1.4 and begin the next season of play. This update also contains some really great improvements to the German translations. A huge thank you goes out to "CrazyDuck" in discord for his work proofing the German translations. He is not 100% done, but he got back to me with some great changes that I wanted to push live right away for our German players. That is all for now, have fun and good luck to everyone posting scores. It is still a bit early to talk about the 1.4 update, but I can confirm the IP system is being revamped and expan…
- Emergency Hot Fix - 15 August 2022
Hey there gamers; A small but critical exploit was found in the crypto market. So, I had to push out a quick emergency patch. Huge thank you goes out to a few players, but most of all to BrandonS for showing me how to replicate it, leading to the fix. I will not be punishing any player who abused this exploit to get insane scores on the leader boards. Ultimately the fault falls to me not the players. They can keep their scores for this season, but hopefully going into the next season of play we will have no exploits left in any of the games many systems. Even large studios with huge QA teams end up having exploits. Especially if "The Spiffing Brit" comes along. For just a one-person team I try my best, but I do rely on players to help me find any issues I might miss. I never thought about selling a negative amount of crypto causing it to work as a reverse purchase, but it did. However,…
- Hot Fix 4 for Update 1.3 - 11 August 2022
A few quick fixes to address some issues found by players in the current 1.3 build. - Fixed an issue that prevented auto researching genres properly - Added milestone completion checks to spending paragon points. Now if you use paragon to unlock 25k fans or a big starting bank, it will correctly fire a check on the milestones for completion. - Fixed an exploit with bank loans. It was possible to take a loan, and then immediately owe less than the loans value to pay off the loan creating an infinite money glitch. This is caused in the early game when your company valuation is low, and numbers end up being rounded down to there minimal levels. As a temporary fix you will now get a loan that matches what you have to repay, whether that is higher or lower than you expected. The banking fix I have implemented is not perfect as you may get a loan higher or lower than you expect in the early g…
- Hot Fix 3 for Update 1.3 - 4 August 2022
This small update should mark the final hot fix for the 1.3 update. A huge thank you to all the amazing players who have been grinding the game, and providing incredible feedback to help get the newest build to this stage. There may be more issues, and if so, we will tackle them quickly. However, I feel very confident in the stability of the current build largely due to your help. Fixes - Fixed an issue with the new reset function for paragon players. - Fixed an issue that allowed you to purchase engine discovery when no features remained. - Fixed an issue that allowed you to book a convention with no valid game causing a weird blank convention result that could bug out your game. - Re-balanced conventions for self-published games. These have been improved in most cases, especially for the small convention. - Convention sales for self-published games now go to the end of your sales week…
