- 2-21-26 Saving Glitch Fix - 21 February 2026
Have you ever seen something like this when completing a level? This is a bug that I haven't seen reported often, but basically, some players on new save files would have to beat levels twice, or in some cases, their save files wouldn't be accessed at all. Normally this kind of thing is affected by out-of-game factors such as firewall or Steam itself, somehow, so I figured it was a machine-dependent issue. However, turns out it's something that could affect everyone?!Fast forward to today, and a player finally managed to establish a pattern: the glitch seems to occur consistently if you fully beat the tutorial on a new save, but not if you skip it, but only when the game is running with Steam open. Whether this issue cropped up recently is entirely beyond me, but that allowed me to eventually figure out that somehow, Steam's extra logic seemed to change the order of how the game's main…
- Touching base - 6 February 2026
Hope you all are having a good Friday! (Or Saturday, depending on timezone) I just wanted to make a quick and loose post to let y'all know that I've been on the next update for Advent NEON, but won't be patching the game for some time (i.e. months) because of it. I still wanted to both break any radio silence and warn you that there's going to be a bit more, but that doesn't mean nothing is happening. Won't be anything too crazy since I'm going at my own pace here (which is consistent, instead of losing sleep during the months of finalizing and playtesting before launch), but this should finally be the content update that I previously promised. I'm intentionally leaving out specifics and dates so that I can focus on making it, knowing that everything that isn't already made is subject to change. I will say that the biggest priority for it has already been made and possibly could be wort…
- Removed Plushie Button - 28 December 2025
Please observe the following changes for this patch:Removed Plushie Button
- 10-Day Plush Campaign! Neon Plush needs YOUR help to become real! - 18 December 2025
Makeship Plush Campaign Live until December 28th!Support the Campaign & Pre-Order here!It starts at 1PM EST (about ~45 minutes from posting this!)This is an all-or-nothing bid for 200 pre-orders (of 2 USD) for Makeship to manufacture a plush of Neon! If it fails, no plush and every supporter is refunded. If it's successful, the first piece of official Advent NEON merchandise becomes real! There's gonna be a Plushies button in the main menu and hub pause menu for the next 10 days. This is non-negotiable; the plush concept made the rules, not me.I'll also give back in some way should the campaign be successful. (Likely a small game giveaway to those who supported!) Will give more details on that at a later date.I really want to see this plush become a reality, so if you've been waiting for this, now's your time to support or let someone else know who can drop a pre-order on the campaign!…
- 12-15-25 Fixes - 15 December 2025
Small bugfix patch for today from some feedback I got.Meteoric Spin's jump height is now consistent. (It was inconsistent due to the whole move being registered as either a grounded or an aerial attack depending on if the last attack you did was grounded or airborne. This somehow gave it lower jump height if you specifically performed aerials before using the move. To fix this, Meteoric Spin is now always registered as a grounded move regardless of when it's used.)The camera no longer overcompensates for Meteoric Spin's speed when either on rails or in high speed state before using the move. I.e., Neon isn't flung off the left side of the screen for going too fast with this attack anymore. The attack had its own camera properties that were unintentionally interacting with the existing ones.Addressed a potential softlock in boss rush where Divas could be stunned before transitioning to t…
- 12-3-25 Patch - 3 December 2025
Yo! Hope you all are getting ready for the holidays, if you celebrate! I’ve finally gotten a decent-sized break in and worked on this patch over the past month and a half.A popular sentiment I’d noticed can be paraphrased as: “The game is peak but there’s little \ that add up to work against it.” It can be felt as early as the tutorial or as late as trying to 100% the game through Stage Rush.Because of that, I prioritized finding some of those little ways to de-jank the game and increase the feeling of consistency and perceived quality throughout, especially for players’ first time experiences. However, make no mistake: jank is fundamentally baked into this kind of game, so I have no intention of completely sanitizing it for the sake of like, journalists or something. With that all said: here’s the patch notes! TL;DR for biggest changes (there’s many more):Stage and Boss Rush can be don…
- 9/2 Patch - 2 September 2025
Happy September! I took the time to get a small patch made today, mainly for that annoying softlock in Tritium Act 2, along with making Meteoric Spin more fun to use. When triggering a timestop counter against Ghostwave, Neon should no longer go inside the water blocks. At least, not as easily, if it's still at all possible.Doubled the speed of a specific type of flight.Meteoric Spin has been updated with the following properties:It now is instantly charged. You can hold the input to remain airborne, but it can now be used the instant you let go of that input. It's slightly faster. It deals over twice as much damage and armor damage, and knocks regular enemies high into the air when hitting them on the ground. (This can KO some enemies instantly). It is now processed as a break attack (doesn't scale with Resonance, but does more knockback to lower health targets). In order to hit a single e…
- 8/14 Fixes Patch - 14 August 2025
UP TO JUMP no longer triggers Orbital Mirror if you have it activated, and now 100% can't activate Meteoric Spin, even though it shouldn't be possible to begin with.Indra no longer softlocks the player in Boss Rush if they died to her second phase before beating her. This glitch occurred in direct response to the fix I made for her fight in this mode during the last patch.Fixed softlocks in Hexane Act 4 involving the bomb room before getting invincibility, and a bomb room involving hitting a switch through a door.Spidrone no longer floats offscreen if spawned in the training room.Slowed down rising lava near the end of Hexane Act 3.Increased time it takes for doors to close in two-button room in Central District Act 4.Removed a fringe-case softlock in Central District Act 3 when falling before the Hazard Eye segment.Fixed issue/made it formally possible to kill Hazard Eye in Central Dis…
- 8/1 Fixes Patch - 1 August 2025
Happy August! This one's got a lot of stuff going on at once, so I hope I cover it all here, and that the patch doesn't break anything that I've tried to fix lol. Virtually all of this is in response to player feedback, so thanks!UP TO JUMP is now functions much nicer. It will ignore up as a jump input in at least the following scenarios: Entering doors/warp pads, talking to NPCs, using cannons, using drill, during flight state. Dashing straight down while in the air now makes Neon fall faster. There is still a slight slowdown at the end of this dash, but it is nowhere near as much as the complete stop it made you do before. I initially made this change max out your fall speed instantly instead of after a couple frames, but it made Neon fall so fast that I'm not sure how easily it'd be kept up with lol. Either way, if the people who requested this change aren't satisfied with the curren…
- 7/28 Hotfixes - 28 July 2025
Soundtrack's been released on Steam! (Not really a hotfix but still important!) Stage Rush time achievement now 36 minutes, up from 30. Swapped positions of Restart Level and Skip to Boss buttons in pause menu.
- 7/27 Hotfix - 28 July 2025
Addressing an issue where the final phase of the final boss may not play music or perform its intro for some players. Not sure why this happens, so I put a brute force fix into the code. Very sorry for anyone who experienced this weird way to end the game. That is not what you should have experienced!
- 7/27 Patch - 27 July 2025
Thanks for enjoying the game so far! It's wild that we've got over 140 reviews and the extreme majority of them are positive! I'm putting out this second patch to address a couple softlocks and some headache-inducing points that seemed to be consistent for players.Slightly slowed Neon's fall arc. Once Neon begins falling (while not attacking or in any special states), they will briefly fall slower than they did before, before falling at normal speed. This should help people who feel that Neon falls like a brick, without overhauling Neon's physics nor making the jump feel floaty to those who got used to it. Also, you can hold the jump button to extend that hangtime, which has always been in the game but was never explicitly mentioned.Nitra District's Bumper gimmick has been expanded. Instead of a bubble, it now is about as wide as a standard platform. Still looks kinda like a weird bubbl…
- Soundtrack Released! Steam, Spotify, Bandcamp and More Now Available! - 25 July 2025
Thank you all for enjoying Advent NEON so far! There have been a few requests to be able to listen to and purchase the soundtrack, and I've spent the week organizing it to get out to you all as soon as possible! - 7/19 Patch - 19 July 2025
Thank you all for playing the game, enjoying it and leaving your feedback! I actually typed up these notes once before until my power went out right before sending it, so I'll be retyping these and hoping that the power doesn't troll me a second time. Sorry for the delay! These changes primarily serve to address some potentially unfun and unfair "filtering" points in Hexane District, sooner, rather than later, due to it being the "second" area in the game. - Reduced hazard count across all Hexane District Acts. - Increased cooldown of missiles in Hexane Act 1's latter half. - Lowered total number of missiles fired during the "treadmill" section of Hexane Act 1 right before the train section. - Deflecting these missiles with attacks now spawns Nodes. - Reworked the enemy/hazard placement in the train section and added Boost Rings. This part was overly-disproportionately difficult compare…
- ADVENT NEON NOW OUT! + What to Expect - 18 July 2025
I can't believe my first commercial game's now on the market. Thank you all so much for supporting and believing in me for this over such a long time! I know that I should be taking time to let the gravity of this sink in (I haven't been allowed to stop thinking about this game for the better half of a decade), but I first want to detail a "roadmap" so that people's expectations are tapered in regards to post-launch support. There are currently only plans for one content update. It will not come immediately, nor will I give an estimated time window for it until I actually get work done on it. (I loved working on this game, but I seriously need a real, actual break.) Remember: there is no dev team. There is no artist, musician, programmer, marketer or legal person that can be contacted for this game other than myself. This update will, at minimum, fulfill some Kickstarter backer goals tha…
- Demo Hotfix - 7/17 - 18 July 2025
NOTE: The full game is releasing in about 12 hours. I've tried so hard to get this glitch to trigger, but couldn't. But everyone's feedback seems to point to it starting at a point in time where Nyari should use her ultimate attack, but doesn't, specifically when being stunned into a wall, at which point she should normally cancel into that ult. It seems that the ult condition kept resetting itself because she was trying to go into the attack, but wasn't being registered as being in the attack, so it kept putting her back in again in a loop. But again, it's super strange how random the odds of this occurring were, as every time I tested, she'd recover from that knockback. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully this change to the code does indeed fix that issue! And you ideally won't be seeing it in the full game, either!
- Game and Demo are Steam Deck compatible! - 18 July 2025
To predate the game's release tomorrow, Steam Deck verification partially requires an announcement of how/if the game plays on Deck. The game, both for its demo and the main game, through internal playtesting, run GREAT on Deck with no real issues, to my knowledge. Just boot up the game with no special settings and you should be good to go! Ideally you should see a green Steam Deck Verified status once Valve does their thing!Oh, and your Steam Cloud will work just fine with it too, so don't worry about your progress not carrying over. That's all for today! Thanks for the support!
- Demo Hotfix 6/16 - 16 June 2025
As the subtitle suggests, the splash art itself is the reason why Steam Input glitched when starting the game, causing a crash. The on-launch splash art has been removed from the game to fix this. You may now boot the game with Steam Input enabled without crashing. The irony is that the splash art is a fundamental feature/option of Gamemaker as an engine, and is not something I actually programmed, so I still have no idea as to how or why this interaction occurred, let alone the fact that it was possible.Either way, apologies for the inconvenience this issue caused!
- Demo Patch 6/9 & Release Date - 9 June 2025
Thank you all so much for your support through the years! Advent NEON is becoming real, and the wait won't be long now! The game drops on July 18th!! Here are the demo updates:The backend of the game got entirely updated. This won't visibly change much, but If you notice problems after updating, consider performing a fresh install of the demo.File select is now a thing. The demo only supports one save file, but the full game will support up to 100.Start screen and Franca's design are updated.More settings in the options menu now save aside from controls. Many bug fixes.
- Demo Minipatch 2/22/25 - 22 February 2025
- Nyari battle REZ score reqs lowered - 10 nodes give 5% REZ at Max HP (again) - Dodging (timestop) gives 5% REZ - Timestop increases how REZ score is calc'd - Dialogue freezes REZ score calc. - Steam Cloud should work
