• Progress Update - 17 October 2025

  I haven't posted an update in a while to all you Chapter 1 Demo owners or anyone waiting for the game on their Wishlist.I recently dropped Chapter 6 onto the Beta Test Team, and I'm barreling through building the region in which Chapter 7 takes place. I've completed the exteriors of all the towns and the interiors of their businesses (shops, taverns, inns, etc.) and I've finished the interiors of two of the towns's houses. • A New Lore Book Has Been Added - 28 November 2024

  A new book, Diyosian Astronomy: Moons of Diyosia, has been added into the Chapter 1 Demo. It contains information about the 8 moons that the player can see surrounding the game's world of Diyosia in the opening storybook sequence. In addition, Jonas' bookshelf in Scarlet Sabres HQ now contains a complete library of the game's books; however, the only regional book available to read is the book Encyclopedia: Regatul, as books about other regions are not relevant to the Demo and contain story information the player will not encounter until the game's full release. Jonas's bookshelf is sorted by category, and now gives the player a hub to sit and read through all of the world's lore at their leisure, and lessens the FOMO of not spotting individual books out in the wild.

• Streaming via OBS - 1 October 2024

  When streaming or recording the Chapter 1 Demo via OBS, an issue has been occurring where the capture randomly flickers black or, in some cases, stays black until you refresh the source. This is not an in-game phenomenon, this is purely within the OBS Window Capture. For now, the workaround is to go into your Window Capture settings, and set your Capture Mode to: "BitBlt (Windows 7 and up)" This should resolve the flickering; however, I am waiting for confirmation from testers to make sure. Once this has been confirmed to be the root cause of the issue, a new instruction upon selecting "New Game" will be added after the diagrams explaining the controls.

• An Emergency Patch Has Been Issued - 11 September 2024

  You know how you try to fix one simple thing, and then break a bunch of other things? I do! If you played the game following the patch that went up around Midnight PST on 09/10 until this fix was issued around 3:30PM PST on 09/11, you may have found some cutscenes refusing to play, and some floors completely impassible. This has been resolved.

  It might behoove players of the Demo to do another quick sweep of Mici. A few visual cues have been added to help you notice helpful items you may not have noticed at first glance.

• Chapter 1 Demo: Definitive Edition - 31 August 2024

  The Chapter 1 Demo of Firebird: Legend of the Crystal Goddesses has received a HUGE overhaul to bring it up-to-date with the current development version of the game. These changes include: • The game has been reformatted from a 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9 fullscreen. • The combat system has been completely rebalanced, including equipment stats. • Quality-of-Life improvements, such as story-unlocked dungeon-escape and fast-travel systems. • More world lore has been added to main story dialogue to enrich the narrative experience. • Books are no longer collectible items. To avoid inventory bloat, books are read where they are. • Many graphical assets have been updated and improved, and to align with the new 16:9 formatting. • Brand new Official Store & Library Art for the game, courtesy of CerasusArts on Twitch. • Splash Screen Not Loading - 2 July 2022

  When attempting to load the game, after a recent bug patch in the new version of the Demo, the recently-updated 171st Street Games logo splash was failing to load correctly, causing a game crash immediately upon launch. This was brought to my attention and has been fixed. The game should load properly now and the updated version of the logo splash can be viewed in all its splendor.

• Chapter 1 Demo - Refined Edition - 29 June 2022

  While developing other Chapters of the full game, some changes were made concerning expanding the world's lore, including some new NPCs and altering some existing ones to fit some new story elements that are going to be in the complete story, and one major update: The Skills system has been completely overhauled. The names and hierarchy of the different types of Skills has been refined, streamlined, and given its own suffix-based tier system for Magic-based Skills that is unique to this universe. There are also brand new Skill animations during battle to reflect updated Skills that have been added to the game, and the labeling of "Skill Points" as "SP" is now completely consistent throughout the game (there are no more accidental appearances of the former "MP" for Magic Points abbreviation). • Unlockable Epilogue in Chapter 1 Demo - 8 September 2021

  Up until now, in the Firebird: Legend of the Crystal Goddesses Chapter 1 Demo, completing Chapter 1 would only show one cutscene that takes place between Chapter 1 ending and Chapter 2 beginning, and then roll the credits. Now, if players complete ALL 12 MERCENARY CONTRACTS (this includes the optional contracts that become available around halfway through Chapter 1), then a second cutscene will be unlocked that will play after the Credits. Until now, I had only meant for this cutscene to appear in the full game, and just leave the Demo off where it was. But I decided there should be some extra reward for completing all of the Contracts. So get out there and help those citizens of Regatul!

• Bug Fix: Error loading Monica's Tavern - 7 September 2021

  After removing post-Chapter 1 graphical assets from the Demo's files to avoid any spoiler information being present, there was an asset that was accidentally removed that shouldn't have been. That asset has been put back, and the game no longer crashes when you enter Monica's Tavern. Everything should be working smoothly again.
