- Demo Patch 0.7.24 - 23 September 2026
Hello treasure hunters, the previous few patches revolved around making the party members feel more important. This patch goes a bit deeper, specifically for Bahj. The goal was to further solidify Bahj's role and usefulness as a tank. Some other improvements and fixes snuck in too.GameplayAdded Intercept ability for BahjReplaces Shield Guard. Bahj moves quickly, protecting nearby allies and themselves from damageAdded Net ability for BahjThrow a fishing net on multiple enemies, trapping, tethering and pulling them togetherAdded tethering functionality - if a character gets moved by abilities like Hook or Push, then all characters tethered to it get moved as wellTry using Hook on enemies after they've been tethered by NetBalanceWet status effect now increases fire resistance, alongside the reduced lightning resistanceBurning status effect can now be removed by Chilled Gust, Poison Gas, an…

- Demo Patch 0.7.13 - 26 July 2026
Hello treasure hunters, I bring you another demo patch! This one includes a new weather feature: puddles! They form during rain, and they aren't just for visuals. They also conduct electricity! But that's not all. There was also an upgrade to the item distribution code. Before, if there were 10 types of swords, and 1 type of ring, an item drop was more likely to be a sword. As a result, it was unintentionally much less common to receive some items, especially for Pahri and Bahj. Now, these items are distributed better. After this change and some playtesting, it felt like a lot of these now more commonly dropped items felt a bit boring, and the inventory felt not as interesting as when it was more main-character-item focused. So, I did a round of affix changes, and some new additions.Pahri:Pahri's RobeNew affix: Chance for Invisibility When StruckPahri's BeltEffect on Crit affix now valid…

Larger on first hit, smaller on combo hitsImproved culling for better performance in large mapsUmbralith now has 25 lightning resist instead of fire resistImproved rain visualsBug fixes and minor UX adjustmentsThanks for keeping up with the games development :) Everyone's support has been awesome to see. More things are in the works, so until then, happy treasure hunting!
- Demo Patch 0.7.7 - 21 June 2026
I'm occasionally on the lookout for performance candidates in the code, and optimize a couple minor things here and there, but this demo patch goes a bit further.I want the game to play smoothly for y’all without compromising the visuals or map sizes. I spent the last couple days deeply combing through the Bridgebourn code to try and find some performance improvements. After many minor and some notable optimizations, I managed to detect a 13.4% FPS improvement in the demo patch 0.7.7 (for reference, that's an 8 FPS gain if you had 60 fps)!As always, the patch has various bug fixes as well. Let me know if you notice any improvement! Now, I'll go back to working on the rest of the game ːsteamhappyːHappy treasure hunting and thank y’all for your support! More updates to come.
- Demo Patch 0.7.0 - 31 May 2026
10 years into development and major, defining features are still being added to Bridgebourn and its demo. I'm so excited for this update as it unlocks an enormous iceberg of complexity.Strategies - The flagship mechanic of this updateCreate highly customizable auto behaviors for your party membersString together multiple conditions using AND, OR, AND NOT, OR NOT logicCreate a behavior to activate if the conditions are metCreate a chain of follow-up behaviorsMultiple options such as behavior cooldowns, activation delay after conditions met, etc.The new strategies mechanic allows for your party to finally use all of their abilities automatically, without your command. For example:Get Pahri to place a Bear Trap when they see an elite. Bahj will walk to any Bear Trap and uses Hook to pull the elite on to itGet your party to Jump with you whenever you Bolt, so they can also dodge enemy attac…
- Demo Patch 0.6.73 - 29 April 2026
I've been working on refactoring the strings of Bridgebourn's codebase to allow for different languages. In an attempt to think of ways to implement it without increasing system requirements, I was actually able to reduce VRAM usage a tad bit and draw calls/texture switching (especially when your inventory is open!) So, I'm expecting some users to see slight performance improvements. A happy surprise win when I was expecting the opposite! The technical reason why: I can't fit all the letters of other languages in one UI texture atlas page. They had to be on separate pages, which would drive up the drawcalls/texture switching massively. So, I had to upgrade the UI sprite batching to work like the gameworld sprite batching does - binding multiple textures and picking them in the shader.Anyway, the main reason I wanted to make this announcement was to let people know that language support i…
- Demo Patch 0.6.62 - 13 April 2026
Gameplay:New Conduit spellRe-added Familiar spell (Try turning it into an auto turret minion by making a custom ability at an Iridine Pylon!)Added Crushing Blow effect: Heavy charged slashes, critical hits, Bahj's jump ability, and Summon Pillar (with high enough velocity). When killing an enemy with a crushing blow, effects will happen depending on status effect.Chilled: Ice explosion with shrapnelPoisoned: Release poison gasBurned: ExplosionElectrified: Send sparks flyingMisc:Labeled all the seas in the world map.Minor UX improvementsFixed various freezes, bugs and crashesPerformance:Nothing big enough to note here but working on an optimization that will come in a nearby patch. I will update this bullet when that is out. EDIT: That's out too now! More to come.As always, I'll be chipping away at this enormous passion project of mine. Please feel free to share feedback, critical analysi…
- Steam Deck Demo Patch 0.6.59 Live - 22 March 2026
I got myself a Steam Deck, so I was able to make the demo fully supported on the Steam Deck! Even though I'm working on the post-demo, I'm still throwing in an occasional patch for the demo to make sure it's as good as it can be. As always, if y'all find any issues or have suggestions, feel free to throw it my way.Happy treasure hunting, adventurers.

- Demo Patch 0.6.15 - 6 September 2025
Graphics:Following last patch, I continued doing some graphical tinkering. This new feature, the transparency window, will make the game much more legible, I think!Additionally, the world map got a new look!Gameplay:Some minor gameplay additions and changes as well:Summon PillarNow has a new tree upgrade node - UnbreakableWhen pushed, the damage is now based on the speed of the pillarSlash charge damageInstead of the damage multiplier lerping from 1x to 2x, it now lerps from 1x to 1.75x, then immediately jumps to 2x when the charge is completePerformance:I want to make sure adding all these new graphical features wont hamper the performance on a wide range of devices, so this patch also contains optimizations.Shader switches reduced by over half. Added a setting to reduce bloom blur passes. These changes may bring you performance benefits, especially on a weaker GPUFixed world map proce…
- Demo Patch 0.6.12 - 21 August 2025
Hello treasure hunters, I wanted to give y'all a quick update! As I continue working on Bridgebourn, some of the new features occasionally trickle down into the demo. For patch 0.6.12, that includes a new lighting engine! There were 2 main reasons for this feature. One is that the previous lighting system was mostly calculated CPU side, so it wasn't the most performant. The other, is that I didn't like how I couldn't manually darken certain areas, like under forest canopies such as this:Implementing this allowed me to do some more cool things! Like tall sprite tinting in a psuedo-3d way:Not just shadows, but also colored lights:While I was at it, I figured a closeness effect on the camera could be really scenic, and I think I'll keep the result!:As a result, it brings other benefits too! Previously, shadows from clouds could really stack up on you, and make the area very dark - no amount…

New Reagent reaction: Reagent + Mana gas = new Mana Charged status effect for all nearby friendly iridians (temporary infinite mana). You can now toggle an "overhead view" of your area with the map button by tapping, and opening the world map by holding. Charging your Slash can now increase mana on hit by up to 2x (4x on Polearm with the double charge). With mouse/keyboard, you now need to hold shift to charge your Slash (meaning you no longer need to spam click enemies for combos). All weapons now have their own base mana on hit property. Daggers: 5, Swords: 10, Axes: 10, wands: 20, polearms: 20 (previously, all Slash hits gave 10 mana). New damage ranges for player weapons. Daggers: from 4-15 to 4-10. Swords: from 7-23 to 6-20. Axes/Polearms: from 10-30 to 8-30. Status effects such as burning, poison, and electrified now base particle effect amount on strength of status effect. Mana d…
- Extended Demo Content Patch 0.5.64 - 11 October 2024
I heard y'alls feedback in regards to the emerging story not being overly clear in the Bridgebourn demo. Bridgebourn isn't just an ARPG. It's focused on having a unique, crazy and bold story in an immersive fantasy world. So, I decided to move the ending in the demo a bit further out to include more exposition and what I think is a more meaningful place to leave the journey hanging. As a bonus, this will include a location where you can get a mount! Now if you don't mind, I'll be back on the grind (to get more Bridgebourn into your hands). Stay on the lookup for my updates! Happy treasure hunting!
- Co-Op Update 0.5.44 - 10 August 2024
Available in the demo, you can now play with 4 people total! It's local-coop based, so you choose someone's client and save file as a host. However, using Steam Remote Play, it's basically multiplayer! Just plug in some controllers/invite steam friends on Steam Remote Play, load up a save file, and activate the other players in the Co-Op menu found on the Pause menu! Happy treasure hunting!
- Steam Deck Patch 0.5.30 - 17 June 2024
I was able to get access to a Steam Deck for a bit and patched out the bugs pertaining to Steam Deck and other hand held gaming devices. The bugs included interacting with UI and party manager mode with the mouse cursor via joystick, and a crash at the Aghash boss fight. If you ran into issues previously, please give it another try! Only issue withstanding is the game uses Xbox button icons regardless of controller used. Also fixed a crash for any device that had no audio source. Let me know if you run into any more issues, thanks!
- New Bridgebourn Demo Update: 0.5.0 - 1 June 2024
I just launched a big Bridgebourn update (available in demo)! The goal is to solidify the game experience by adding new content, iterating on problematic content and balancing the player/party. Let's get into the changelog and the reasoning behind some of the changes. Death Bank Added Esse Finis, a new map Added Vizaresh, a new boss. Found in Esse Finis Added portals in the overworld that take you to Esse Finis Player now loses half experience and any levels that it makes up on game over (Vizaresh accumulates this experience and restores it upon its death) Previously, a game over would clear whatever experience you had in your bar and you had no way to get it back. Due to this, I couldn't make the death penalty that bad and it seemed to have no real consequence. Losing a lot of levels would also make the player feel like they are going backwards with progression, which never feels great…
- OTK Pixel Pitch! - 29 March 2024
I am so honored to have been both the investors and audience pick for the first episode of OTK's Pixel Pitch! It was such a blast to be on the show. Where do we go from here? In the short term, I'll be fixing bugs and monitoring the response from the demo. It's currently getting a very large influx of new players. I'm so excited to hear what y'all think of it. Because of this wave, I'm expecting to receive bug and feedback reports. Rest assured, I'll be working to fix these ASAP. In the long term, I'll be back on track with working toward the final release. I'll be posting updates frequently via the Bridgebourn Discord server and Twitter, so you'll be in the know. I hope you enjoy the demo, and let me know if you run into any issues! Bonus points if they are replicable. Now, back to developing! Cheers!
- Bridgebourn Demo 0.3.0 Update Live - 19 December 2023
After receiving feedback from the demo launch, I worked on this update bringing new content, modifications and fixes to the demo. I'm confident this greatly improves the players experience in the world of Bridgebourn. If you've already tried the demo, I still recommend giving this update a whirl! As always, let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy. Added more character dialogue. Venture out and find it! Party Members now have their own equipment tabs in the inventory window, as well as new Pahri and Bahj accessory items. Blocking now knocks back and halves Slash knockback. Added shield block parry. Time it right to stun and greatly knock the enemy back. Added new Wisp ability. Reagent Gas now destroys multiple abilities it reacts with, but still only reacts once.
