• RC Match 3 Updated to Version 2! - 2 December 2024

  Hello again and thank you for your patience! I was working on a very difficult to track rendering bug that made the screen blank on some machines. Once I got that working, an unfortunate mouse bug cropped up. I was finally able to track that down to an issue specific hardware set. On certain older, integrated Intel graphics chips, the mouse cursor location is not reported accurately to the game. Fortunately this seems to be a fairly esoteric bug, only affecting a limited number of older laptops. Even more fortunately, playing with the keyboard or controller are both viable options if you should run into this bug on your machine. For everyone else, the mouse should still work perfectly well. So now we are finally live with RCM3 Version 2! • Oops!: Update to Version 2 Still Pending - 1 August 2024

  Hi again, friends! Unfortunately there has been a slight delay in rolling out Version 2. As it turns out, one of our beta testers with an older machine is experiencing a problem with the new version where the game runs perfectly fine - as long as you don't mind the screen being completely black. We're having some difficulty identifying the source of this issue, and don't want to roll out a half-baked product to you. If you are interested in beta testing Version 2 now, you can opt in to the beta by right-clicking on the game's title in your list of games, choosing "Properties", and under "Betas" choosing the "Beta Participation" option "beta - new feature testing" from the dropdown menu. All additional testers are appreciated, as it helps us determine whether issues like this one are due to a problem with the game, or a hardware problem for an isolated tester.   Greetings, everyone! It's been a crazy year. I released RC Match 3 at the end of April, 2023, and after making a few fixes, we quickly arrived at Fall 2023. Unfortunately, I was using the Unity engine for game development, and in September 2023, Unity made some...questionable business decisions. Though they wound up walking back many of those decisions, it is not the first time this has happened, and I have decided to quit the Unity ecosystem entirely. Fortunately, the open-source Godot 4 game engine has proven to be far better for me than Unity ever was. I have spent the last several months learning Godot and rebuilding RCM3 from the ground up.
