- Soulknight Survivor will become free to play - 7 September 2026
Hey everyone,I've been thinking about this step for over a year now, and I finally made the decision.Sales have slowed down a lot, and I'd rather have more people enjoy the game instead of earning a few extra bucks a year from it.If you already own the game, thank you for supporting me and for all the feedback I recieved over the recent years! But I hope you understand this decision. So in a few weeks, Soulknight Survivor will become free to play.Have fun! :D
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.056 - 20 June 2025
If you’re just here for the patchnotes, feel free to scroll down. It’s been a long time since the last update, and I want to be honest with you...For the past few months, I wasn’t even sure if I’d finish this one.I’m someone with a lot of dreams, and one of them was to release a game on Steam. That dream came true, and it’s been a great experience—not just from a game design perspective, but also in learning so much more about the industry as a whole.First of all, I want to thank everyone who joined me on this journey and enjoyed Soulknight Survivor. I'm not a professional developer, but I genuinely enjoyed improving the game bit by bit based on the constructive feedback I received. That said, I’m still working full-time as a mechanic, so I can’t continue developing this project indefinitely.I hope this final update (or maybe more... if I feel a scribble in my fingers again 😄) addresses…
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.054 - 31 May 2024
Deleted the "auto-aim on/off" description from the gamepad controls window, as it is not usable anymore since v.1.51 on gamepad. Bushes now have a Z-Level, so they can be drawn above or below the player based on the player's position on the y-axis. Added the missing bushes/grass from the last update to be destroyable. Added a sound when a bomb is activated by the player. Updated ppfx (graphical effects library) to the recent version. Bugfix: Destroyable bushes were always drawn above the player in the village. Bugfix: Addressed the bug with the flash soul power again. Hopefully, it's truly fixed this time. Bugfix: Background of the speech bubbles was not drawn correctly.
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.053 - 26 May 2024
All texts are now rendered by the newly implemented Scribble extension. Hope everything looks crisp now :) Several (now unneeded) fonts were deleted, which should decrease texture pages and improve performance. Added some missing translations. Bushes are now slashable. What do they drop? Nothing, but it's fun xD Bugfix: Fixed a bug that occurred when the flash soulpower followed an enemy out of sight. Some minor bug fixes.
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.052 - 19 May 2024
This update is a follow-up to the last update. I'm currently working on migrating most of the texts to the newly implemented Scribble text rendering extension. The SE-Development logo is now loaded as a graphic instead of a font to save texture page memory. Adjusted the vertical position of several windows to be more central. Added some missing translations. Replaced several texts with "Scribble" text rendering to make them more readable and dynamic. The item name in the chest window now shrinks to fit the window width if it's too long. Added stat change numbers to the chest window, making it easier to decide if you want to scrap an item. Bugfix: In the chest window, it was not possible to select "scrap" for ring items.
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.051 - 12 May 2024
Migration from GameMaker LTS to the recent version, as the long-term support version had become outdated. Please report any bugs encountered, as updates like this can potentially cause issues. Updated the "Input" library/extension (by Juju Adams and Alynne Keith) to the latest version. Implemented the text rendering extension "Scribble" by Juju Adams. Currently, it's only in use by the crafting and skill window, but there are plans to expand its usage further. The font can now be changed within the language file by entering the name of the desired font. Make sure the font file is in the same folder as the language files. Since auto-aim can now be interrupted on a gamepad by using the right stick, the auto-aim toggle button on the gamepad is now disabled. Settings are now not saved anymore when activating or deactivating auto-aim but instead at the end of the game. Bugfix: Resolved a res…

Modified the Soulpower magnet, reducing its levels to 5, aligning with most other passive soulpowers. Separated the "hold attack to charge" hint from the tutorial, now always appearing in the first two runs. Added the hint "you can level up with souls" on the map, displaying when the player accumulates enough souls for a level up. Adjusted the "Redeem" hint to align with the level-up hint. Introduced a new random event: Ghostring. Bugfix: Increased the possible text width of town buildings to enhance the visuals of translation…
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.047 - 14 January 2024
Implemented a dynamic system for events (bombs, turrets, etc.) to appear randomly, introducing variety and excitement to each run. Bosses, however, remain fixed on a predetermined schedule. Introduced a new event: Soulimp, a creature not particularly dangerous and a bit shy, but it carries a substantial bag of souls. Introduced a new event: Storm. Adjusted the timing of miniboss appearances to minutes 10 and 20, with the end boss now scheduled for minute 29:55. This shift aligns better with the progression of the level. The barricade now spawns at a random position and may contain 2-4 chests, with variations influenced in part by the luck stat. Chests from barricades can now include all chest ranks, influenced by the player's luck stat. Added a tutorial feature: When activated, a brief message blinks below the player at level start, reminding them to charge an attack by holding the atta…
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.046 - 6 January 2024
Instead of blocking not unlocked difficulties from being selected in the difficulty selection window, they are now selected with red tint. Introduced two additional droptables for higher tiers, focusing on later levels and increased difficulties. Adjusted drop chances for achievement chests to enhance gameplay balance. Increased the effectiveness of the magnet soulpower for improved in-game benefits. The mastery button in the skill menu now blinks, providing a clearer indication of available mastery points to invest. Implemented "Input 6.1" by Juju Adams, replacing the previous input system. This update aims to enhance compatibility with a variety of existing gamepads by incorporating community-contributed bindings for commonly used controllers. Updated the visuals for the Xbox gamepad buttons. Additionally, introduced graphics for PlayStation controllers, with the system automatically displaying buttons based on the connected gamepad type. Revamped the controls window to align with the new Input system, including the addition of buttons for "show/hide fireplace" and "controls" to provide a comprehensive overview. Included keyboard keys "Q" and "E" for "show/hide fireplace" and "autoaim" in the controls window's keyboard section. Adjusted the controls window to dynamically display the relevant section instead of defaulting to the gamepad section upon opening. Changed the toggle autoaim command to th…

The mouse is now automatically locked within the game screen, preventing accidental clicks outside the window. Introducing a new option in the settings menu: "Always show mouse." The indicator turns on automatically upon completing a level, aiding particularly in Ironman mode for level…
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.039 - 7 December 2023
First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for purchasing and playing Soulknight Survivor! As my debut project on Steam, the journey has been one of immense learning. I want to emphasize that I value feedback, particularly when it is constructive and respectful. Many players expressed dissatisfaction with the RNG, especially concerning the random stats of items. I acknowledge that I may have pushed it a bit too far, and with this update, I aim to address these concerns and make the experience more enjoyable for most of you. Let's delve into the issues and changes introduced in this update step by step (for those who prefer to read only the patch notes, please scroll to the bottom). Insufficient Equipment drops: Increased the chance to loot equipment instead of resources. Rarity of Looted Items: Slightly elevated the chance to loot items with higher rarity (based on l…

Bugfix: Eliminated dodging from the gamepad buttons "B" on Xbox or "Circle" on the PS gamepad, as it is already designated for toggling autoaim. Bugfix: Corrected the miscalculated soul cost to level up stamina after the first level-up when the skill window was opened. Bugfix: Adjusted the mouse hover width of the skill buttons to match the graphics accurately.
- Soulknight Survivor v.1.036 - 2 December 2023

For suggestions, join our Discord. Bugfix: Fixed an issue where resources were saved but not the new building level during upgrades.
