  HeroSquare v1.07Steam achievements are live!Many of you requested this, and I'm happy to announce that Steam achievements are now live! :) I hope you find them fun to hunt down over the holidays! Some notes on the implementation:I did not implement retroactive achievement completion, so you may need to play the game in a new file to complete some of them. Do give me feedback on the achievements and/or suggest new ones!HUD placement on some resolutionsI have been aware that that some HUD elements can get inapproriately cropped on 16:10 screens. I have adjusted the minimap placement to hopefully fix this in most instances.Thank you!

  HeroSquare v1.02Save points now heal the squareAddressing one of the most frequent items of feedback so far: save points and healing!Save points now heal the square once per life (excluding the save point you initially spawn from).You can tell if the heal has been used based on if the save point "S" is flashing or not.Bug fixes etc.Improved the ghost power up slightly: Made it so that the ghost power up no longer consumes hits when hitting invulnerable enemy parts, making it more useful against certain enemy types.Fixed a rare game crash with certain item and boss interactionThanks everyone for playing the game and giving me your feedback. • Play HeroSquare on your Steam Deck! - 17 October 2025

  Hi all! While Steam's official Steam Deck compability review takes some time (unfortunately they don't tell you how long), I'm pleased to report that I have now reports from several people, including reviewers that HeroSquare has been perfectly playable on their Steam Deck :) Furthermore Steam statistics indicate that there has been substantial playtime recorded on Steam Deck devices and I have not been informed of any major bugs or problems! Thank you!

• New Trailer for Next Fest & Updated Release Date! - 4 June 2025

  HeroSquare is participating in Steam Next Fest, June 2025 edition! Play the free demo and send me feedback! There is also now a release "date" for the game: September 2025! I'm very happy to be in this spot with my first Steam game and want to extend my thanks to everyone who has wishlisted the game / played the demo / helped me with the playtesting or has given me any type of feedback on the game! You're the best 💝⬜

• Demo update - 2 February 2025

  The HeroSquare playable demo offers you a lot to chew on! The demo can take most people 1-2 hours to complete (and even more if you're really exhaustive about it!). The game has acquired a lot of polish since the last demo release. This demo is now based on the closed playtest version and thus includes several months worth of improvements, bug fixes and playtest feedback. I really hope you enjoy! 😊 Full game to release later in 2025!

I feel this demo represents the final game very well, and it features: several boss battles 👾 branching path metroidvania gameplay, with action & exploration secrets to discover, including a hidden item shop ^^ colorful retro visuals and original chiptune soundtrack I hope you like it!

• HeroSquare Demo is 1-2 hours of FREE metroidvania content! - 27 June 2023

  Hi there! HeroSquare Demo is finally out!
