- Multiplayer fixed & more in Konkwest 1.0052 - 4 January 2025
Another small, but significant patch today! Fixed a bug which caused the multiplayer to fail. Fixed a bug causing the multiplayer to desync in turn one if starting with a new game. Special effects, such as explosions, are no longer launched for places that aren't visible. Breakthroughs no longer cause the entire world to reload the map mode. Expansion missile effects now select their launch site in a more logical way: Instead of always launching from the capital if no neighboring place is available as the launch site, they will now launch from the closest available place in that case. Happy new year, and happy conquering!
- Fixed linguisitc policy bug in Konkwest - 23 December 2024
A very small patch today: The bug introduced in the previous update, which made the UI to change linguistic policies unusable, is now fixed. (version 1.0051)
- Konkwest: Performance & Map Improvements in v1.005 - 15 December 2024
NPCs now make their AI decisions whenever they can, not necessarily after the player is ready. The code for their decision making is now multithreaded. Both of these changes reduce the time you spend waiting for the NPCs greatly. Improved military access mechanic Limited military access: The military access institution aspect no longer allows you to pass through multiple entire countries and use all of your allies' colonies to jump around the world. You can now traverse up to two places using military access, similarly to how you can traverse up to two water places. This should reduce the amount of border gore and seemingly random invasions, while keeping the military access aspect useful. Other notable changes Changed the way selection is represented in the game. The game world is now static, allowing for graphics performance optimizations granting an FPS boost. Improved the UI for the…
- Konkwest Patch 1.0042 - 8 August 2024
With this patch several bugs were fixed and the 1900 scenario was improved. Sokoto and Dendi, two pre-colonial West African countries, were added to the 1900 scenario. Fixed war declarations being absent from the history and news. Added a short cooldown to popup buttons, to counteract players unintentionally closing multiple popups when trying to close just one. Fixed misaligned tooltips at resolutions significantly different from 1920x1080. Fixed conquer-n-places button showing up for countries with which you have a truce.
- Konkwest Patch 1.0041 - 28 July 2024
This small patch fixes the following issues in the game: Desyncs happening when the NPCs try specializing their regions (pretty much every turn) Flickering border outlines Hesse (a country in Germany) being missing in 1700 Have a great time conquering the world!
- Konkwest Update 1.004 - 27 July 2024
This is a small update fixing some issues with the game, and making some changes to the world. Feature You can now invite other, non-enemy countries, to try joining institutions that you are a part of. Scenarios The HRE in 1300 has been turned into an institution and its member states were added as countries. Added institutions to the 2000 scenario. World Aceh, Brunei, Champa, the Mekong Delta, and Singapore have been added as places. Changed several water places in the Atlantic Ocean. Performance Improved performace by making several smaller changes: Enhanced the performance of NPCAI.SpecializeARegion. Removed one unneccessary call to CountriesSystem.UpdateCountriesAttitudeLists per turn. Improved performance of NPCAI.MakePlans. Bugs Fixed a bug where united political unions (in particular NATO) could generate country IDs that were too long to be playable. Removed a false entry in the…
- Konkwest: Diplomania Update (v 1.003) - 21 July 2024
This update for Konkwest overhauls the game's entire diplomacy system! (v1.003) Instead of the ternary neutral / friends / enemies system, countries now have more granular relations to one another, on a scale from 0 to 100. Special treaties, unions and organizations are now represented in the game as Institutions. Diplomatic Requests Accepting and denying diplomatic requests now influences your relation to the countries that sent them, and sending them can cost power. Countries' relations are also influenced by their expansions, conflicts and agreements. Additionally, countries with the same traditional language group tend to like each other more. Diplomatic requests that don't make a difference will no longer be received, so you practically won't get spam-mail from the other countries anymore. Institutions You can create an institution and choose aspects for it. The available instituti…

- Flag Picker & more in Konkwest 1.002 - 30 May 2024
With the second post-launch update Konkwest now lets you choose a flag for your country and invite your Steam friends to play! To change your flag just click the flag in your own country's country-selection-menu, next to the rename country button. You can pick any of the built-in ones, as well as ones added through mods. (Modded flags will only be visible in multiplayer if the other players also have the mod installed.) Using the new system I built for this feature, I also updated a few things in scenarios. Spain in 1700 now has the flag of Burgundy. China in 0 now has a Han-dynasty symbol as its flag. Germany in 1900 is called Germany again, but retains the German Empire flag. In 1300 and 1700 France now has the flag of the Kingdom of France, instead of the modern Republican flag. For more historical accuracy, Afghanistan, Portugal, and Iran now have a different flag in almost every sc…
- Year Zero & Multiplayer Update for Konkwest - 22 May 2024
Konkwest version 1.001 brings Ancient times to the game! Additionally it is now easier than ever to set up and find a multiplayer match! Scenarios New Scenario: 0 (1BC) - Challenge the great ancient empires of Rome and China, or lead them to world domination! The new scenario also comes with flags for all the countries in it. Those are all either from a future time period or fantastical, since countries / peoples did not actually use flags back then. Added flags for Siam (Thailand in 1900), Lan Xang (1700), and Khmer Empire (by Khnom) (alternative). Added ECOWAS as a friend group to the 2000 and 2024 scenarios. Multiplayer Added a new main menu button, with which you can join a random multiplayer game. When you start a new multiplayer game you can now choose whether or not you want to allow random players to join using that new feature. Music Added new track "Dealings of the Diplomat" b…

- Konkwest 1.0 brings Mod Support and Atmosphere - 9 May 2024
Dear gamer, With this Update Konkwest is ready for release! The game now offers basic mod support and lots of content for tens if not hundreds of hours of gameplay. This does not mean that I don't have more ideas for further additions to the game of course, and I would love to continue making improvements to the game. If you want to see more features to come, just make sure that enough people buy the game so I can keep working on it ;) It has been over two years now that I have started developing this game and I am quite happy seeing how far it has come, from a little side-project next to studying, to my full-time work for the past nine months. I hope you'll enjoy Konkwest as much as, or even more than I do - and feel free to reach out to me about feedback or suggestions. Have fun taking over the world! Best regards, Vincent Changes since the last update: Mod Support You can now create…
- Flags & Shields Update in Konkwest - 19 April 2024
This update adds flags and shields to the game, but also a huge load of other content. Flags and Shields All countries in Konkwest, if they historically had a flag, have a flag now, which is displayed in various places throughout the game, for example on a shield displayed on each place on the globe, and on a flag on each country's capital. Flags are linked to the country name. If you rename your country it will adopt the flag matching the new country name if given, or use the country's color as the flag. Gameplay Countries can no longer spawn back in if their traditional language is not at least present by 5% in their origin place. Countries can now start at war or with active friendships in the starting scenario. When you select regions or countries, that will now be visually represented by the selected places moving upwards. Chat There is now an ingame chat where you can communicate…
- World update - 3 March 2024
With this development update, Konkwest is now almost ready for release. A release, which unfortunately won't be coming as soon as I hoped it would. I had a multiplayer playtest session yesterday and there are still a number of relevant bugs to be fixed. I have therefore moved the expected release time for the game to May 2024. When Konkwest comes out I want every player to have a great time building their empire! World Corrected elevation data for Asia, Africa, Australia, and Oceania so these continents now appear with more correct elevation in the game. The more a place's industry is developed, the more of a city appears there visually. Arabia: Added one additional place each to Yemen and Oman. China: Split Hebei into Northern, Southern, and Western Hebei, so it won't be as easy to defeat China by surrounding Beijing. Pakistan: Split Pakistan's former two places into four new ones: Eas…
- Tutorial Update - 12 February 2024
Konkwest now finally has a tutorial! It's not complete yet, but it should be when the game is released. Tutorial Added a tutorial mechanic with a basic and intermediate chapter. (Advanced chapter should follow.) Added a popup asking if you want to see the tutorial when starting a new game. Simulation Stability now slowly ticks up, even when a place is not under any country's control. Localization Diplomatic requests are now fully localizable. Some of the game is available in French. Fixed various minor error occurring due to use of uninitialized localization variables. Netcode Improved game synchronization in multiplayer. Implemented a desync detection mechanism that informs players if the game desynchhronizes. This can help fix bugs, and reloading the latest save file should always allow players to continue where they left off if they happen to desync. (If your multiplayer game desyncs…
- Important Bugfixes, Regions, and Localization Improvements - 5 February 2024
This update brings important bugfixes to Konkwest, and adds to the game's localization. Regions Regional specializations have been refactored. (Earlier versions of this update caused this to make it impossible to load savegames with regional specializations. This is fixed now, and old savegames, even ones corrupted from that bug, should load just fine.) The agriculture specialization, instead of a flat +7 bonus for fields, now provides a +25% bonus for fields, grassland, and hills. Localization Made almost 40 popup texts localizable with German and Dutch versions already available. All content of the region view and the country view is localizable (except names). Added right-to-left script support for country labels on the globe. The place power info popup is fully localizable. All popups caused by the place view are localizable. The linguistic policy screen and all its content (except…
- New Terrain Graphics - 26 January 2024
With today's update Konkwest finally gets new terrain graphics, thanks to my friend Sten. The new textures cover all of the terrain types, except snow which retains the previous style. Other news are as follows. User Interface There is a popup message prompting new players to select a country when leaving the menu for the first time. Localization All plan descriptions, news and history events are now localized for German and Dutch. Added more Arabic localization for nearly all portions of the game thanks to my friends Salem and Eef. Localized more UI titles. Names of the Arabic and Persian languages are now displayed correctly in the menu. Scenarios Added Tectonic Order to the Alternative Countries scenario. Bugfixes The "Your plans" panel, where you can see and cancel the plans you make, no longer lets you scroll past the end of the content when planning a lot. The diplomatic requests…
- Graphics Options Update - 22 January 2024
Konkwest now has graphics options, where you can select from four quality levels: minimum: as the name suggests, this one comes with nothing special low: default on Android; this one has 4x Antialiasing, which is an important improvement over none high: default on Windows; this one has shadows (3 shadow cascades) ultra: this one has 8x Antialiasing, better shadows (4 cascades), and renders in 1.25x superresolution UI When you receive diplomatic requests or when you plan something, a red circle effect now highlights the appropriate buttons. New graphics for the power bar. There is a marker for requesting ownership of a place now. Map Modes Added a regions map mode, which shows the regions of the selected country in colors, and the specialization of each region striped. Help Articles Added new help articles about these topics: capitals, countries, de jure ownership, places, regions, terra…
