• Blippo+ is a campy FMV transmission from another world - 29 March 2026

It's tough to pick a favorite of the broadcasts I've been receiving from Planet Blip. I'm partial to the rants delivered by Blinker, an artificial being who lives between channels and signs off with "All hail the new static!" I'm also into Quizzards, a combination quiz show/roleplaying game where contestants answer questions instead of rolling dice to find out how their fantasy alter egos perform, and Boredome, where real teens talk about the real issues of the day. ("No adults allowed!").. Read more.

• Version 1.0.3 - 22 January 2026

Greetings, aliens! Thank you for watching. Our television engineers, presenters, and personalities are simply thrilled by the ratings boost from across the Bend. To celebrate successful first contact through television, we’re pleased to share our first update to the Blippo+ subspace relay system, with many improvements to the broadcast experience. From all of us here at Television Mountain: happy viewing! See detailed release notes below from our special Earth correspondent—Mark LaCroix, of Noble Robot! Stay Tuned, Lisa Duo Your Television ExecutiveRelease Notes macOS (v1.0.3)Initial release (this took so long because I originally tried to build it in HyperCard). Windows (v1.0.3)Corrected an issue where captions could get stuck on a single line of dialogue, requiring a restart (thank you for your patience on this one, aliens).Corrected an issue where viewer statistics could show incorre…

• Sometimes you should believe everything you read* - 3 January 2026

There’s nothing quite like Blippo+. It’s part video, part game, and all entertainment: a straight shot of cathode fantasy for a world in desperate need of fun. Blippo+ swept 2025's Best Of lists and has been recognized as an instant cult classic by fans and critics alike. But don’t just take our word for it. See what all the buzz is about:"Blippo+ would have been an extraordinary game in any year, but it felt particularly resonant in this one because its just so exuberantly, unabashedly, undeniably human, a collaborative work made by very creative people."KOTAKU ⚡︎ THE 12 BEST VIDEO GAMES OF 2025"I'm delighted that something as downright strange as Blippo+ exists."FORBES ⚡︎ THE 20 BEST GAMES OF 2025"This multimedia oddity recreates the idle joy of channel-surfing basic cable in the late ‘80s, while telling a sci-fi tale that touches on ideas of identity, self-discovery, corporate contro…

• Version 1.0.2: Minor engine update - 6 October 2025

This (very) minor update patches the UnityPlayer.dll library to address a known (but to-date unexploited) security issue. It has been recommended that all games made with Unity Engine issue this patch. No game code or content has been updated with this version. Microsoft Defender (on Windows) has already implemented additional protections for games that haven't been patched, and Valve has told Unity that it will also address the issue within the Steam client (on all platforms), so the current practical risk to users is minimal. That said, we recommended all users download and install this update.

• Someone made the Metal Gear Solid 4 channel-surfing section into a game and it's absolutely perfect - 26 September 2025

There's something about over-the-air broadcasting. Tuning a radio has a way of making the world feel vast: picking up the clipped tones of a Beijing newscaster through waves of static, dialling into the current top 40 in Amman—these are experiences that make you appreciate how enormous and varied the planet is, like scooping a thimble of water out of a churning ocean... • This game about channel surfing surreal alien broadcasts used to be exclusive to a 1-bit console with a crank—but now it's coming to Steam - 13 August 2025

Playdate received an oddity called Blippo Plus earlier this year. It turns the handheld console into a strange little television, so that twisting the crank feels akin to switching channels on an old analog TV dial. Sometimes you'll find a cryptic animation, or else a live action musical performance. Some channels show a mysteriously static logo, whereas others might feature a full-blown variety show. It all plays out in real time, so you can't rewind and fast forward it. You just have to watch it like ye olde TV... Read more.

• Untitled Goose Game and Thank Goodness You’re Here! publishers are doing a thing and I’m not sure what the thing is but it seems like a cool thing - 12 December 2024

I have to write at least 250 words for a news post. Rock Paper Shotgun’s CMS (content management system) even has a built-in widget that shouts at me if I don’t write at least 250 words. "Page 1 body content is quite short" it says if I go under. How cute is that "quite"? I love being fooled into getting charmed by automated systems via colloquial British understatement. Anyway, I bring this up because I honestly don’t have anything to add about Blippo+ . I just wanted to inform you all of its existence. It's a "casual" "FMV" "Cinematic" "Pixel Graphics" "1980s" digital product from developers also named Blippo+, as well as publishers Panic, who've previously unleashed the horrible goose and Thank Goodness You’re Here! on the world. Have a visual orientation: Read more
