Greetings to all the lost souls out there! In the last two blogs, we talked in detail about PvP in our game and today we’re dedicating ourselves to the topic one final time. Before we go into the specific changes, we want to make one thing clear: Even though PvP plays an important role in our game, no one is forced to participate. If you realize after the tutorial that PvP isn’t for you, you can simply disable it. PvP is and will remain optional. For those who enjoy competing with others, we’ve made some important improvements: We love games with great depth, but depth shouldn’t come at the cost of clarity. That’s why we’ve reworked the PvP system to be easier to understand. Our goal was for you to always be able to tell: Why did I win or lose? However, one of the biggest challenges lay elsewhere: Originally, PvP was designed to offer experienced players a lasting, meaningful challenge.…

Hello everyone! As promised, we’re already back today, this time taking a closer look at one of the most important places in our game: the Well of Souls. At first glance, it might seem like an ordinary well. But anyone who approaches it quickly realizes that something very different is happening here. This well is not meant for drawing water; instead, it serves as a gateway to the realm of the dead, a place where the souls of the deceased begin their final journey. Under normal circumstances, this passage works in only one direction: souls leave the world of the living and pass through the well into the realm of the dead. For generations, the well has ensured that this process happens calmly and in an orderly way. For the people of this world, it is therefore a sacred place. A symbol of farewell, but also of the natural cycle of life. But at the beginning of our story, this balance begi…

Hello everyone!First of all, we’d like to wish you a happy new year! We hope you got through the holidays well and made it into the new year without too many starting difficulties. Our last update was a few days ago, and a lot has happened since then. Instead of overwhelming you with everything at once, we’ll be sharing upcoming changes and improvements step by step in regular devblogs. So stay tuned! We’ve already mentioned the topic of today’s blog: starting difficulties.During the development of Survivor of Egypt, our focus has always been on creating a game with deep mechanics that allow – or even encourage – hours of tinkering and planning. We’ve now reached a point where we’re confident we’ve achieved that goal. That’s exactly why we want to shift our focus to the opposite side of the experience: the first turns and the getting-to-know-the-game phase.Because we’ve realized that a de…

Hello, some time has passed since our last meeting, and we haven’t been idle. In the past few weeks, a lot has happened in the project, and we’re excited to share with you today a build update. The version you last saw is now about a month old (07/04/25), and since then, numerous new assets, features, and improvements have been added to further sharpen the gameplay experience. Our goal was to integrate the multiplayer mode, significantly enhance the user interface, and provide players with more options during combat to develop the best battle strategy for their inventory. Everything you find in this email is part of the build we’ll be showcasing at this year’s Gamescom—perfect for getting an early look at the new features. From August 20th to 22nd, we will be showcasing SoE at Gamescom Business Area on the SAXONY communal stand. The player can now compete against other players in PVP and…

Hey everyone, we’re back again! Time really flies when you're having fun, it feels like I made the last post just yesterday! Today we've got some updates on previously mentioned topics and, of course, another sneak peek just for you! Let’s start by talking about the most important part first. We mentioned the improved onboarding last time, and we’ve been working on it ever since. Your first contact with the game should feel as amazing as we know it can be, so to ensure that, we’ve put even more effort into it. We’re confident we’re on the right track as we are making progress every single day! Secondly, we’ve been talking a lot about the look and feel of the game in recent posts, but we haven’t really delivered on showcasing it, until now. Managing your inventory is a crucial part of the game, so we want it to feel both fun and impactful. Take a look at what we’ve cooked up for our attr…

Hey again, everyone! We’re back with our second devblog and excited to share what we’ve been working on over the past two weeks, so let's jump right into it and talk about what we promised last time! We’ve made some great progress on the look and feel of the game! We've added new VFX to make everything feel more satisfying and dynamic, and while it’s already coming together nicely, it’s definitely still a work in progress. There are a ton of ideas floating around for how to make the game really shine, so we’ll be continuing to polish and tweak things as we go. Last time, we also teased the class system rework, so let’s talk about that! We've been playtesting with four core classes until now: the Mage, the Knight, the Ranger, and the Nobody (yep, that’s actually the name). But we figured you might want even more variety, so we’ve come up with four brand-new classes! Say hello to the Assa…

Hey everyone! We’re excited to kick off our very first devblog here on Steam! As we continue developing Survivor of Egypt: The Ancient Curse, we want to bring you along for the journey, sharing behind-the-scenes insights, development progress, and sneak peeks at what’s coming next. In this first post, we’ll talk about where we are in development and give you a glimpse of what’s ahead. Stay tuned, and let’s build something amazing together! Right now, we’ve built a solid foundation, and the core gameplay is in a great place! With various meta progressions and difficulty scaling, there’s already plenty of replayability. However, one of our biggest challenges at the moment is the beginning of the game. We've noticed that it can be a bit difficult to grasp at first, so we’re focusing on improving onboarding and early-game clarity to make sure new players can jump in and have fun right away.…
