  In May... we received an email from Gaston asking whether the soundtrack for the game was already spoken for, and if not, he’d love to try his hand at it. We took a look at his portfolio, set up a call a few days later, and… well, something just clicked. From the very first tracks he shared, it was clear that he understood the tone of the world.Also, in his first email, he casually wrote: “I’m really good at what I do.” We liked the confidence, and it turned out to be true — he really is.Beyond being a composer, Gaston is also a dedicated gamer, and he has quickly become a natural part of the creative process.   We’ve gotten a few questions and comments about our use of “AI” in Endless Machines. So we figured we’d take a moment to explain a bit more about what we’re actually doing — and why. One comment on Reddit stuck with us: "Finally an honest, practical use for an LLM in an indie game." We were genuinely grateful for that. It kind of nails what we’re trying to do. When the hero robots in Endless Machines come alive, they don’t arrive pre-programmed with perfect grammar, social rules, or emotionally polished expression. They’re figuring things out as they go. Learning. Stumbling. Copying stuff they don’t fully understand yet. Sometimes what they say is quirky and weird. Sometimes it’s funny. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense at all. • Tilt-Shift in Endless Machines – Why We Love It (But Also Letting You Adjust It) - 2 March 2025

  We’ve been getting a lot of comments about the tilt-shift effect in Endless Machines —some love it, some think it’s a bit much. It’s a big part of the game’s look and feel, giving it that miniature, ant colony-style perspective. We love how it makes the world feel vast while making the hero robot seem small, reinforcing the sense of it being lost—one robot among about a million others, trying to find its place in a world it doesn’t fully understand. That said, we totally get that not everyone shares our love for the tilt-shift effect—motion sickness has been mentioned—so we’re making it adjustable in the settings. You’ll be able to dial it up or down to fit your preference. We’re continuously experimenting with the camera settings and making adjustments to ensure clarity, especially in combat situations, while keeping the effect that gives the game its unique look.
