- Hotfix for Practice Mode Update - 8 June 2022

- Practice Mode, Improved Restart From Checkpoint, and Other Fixes - 6 June 2022
New Practice Mode: replay specific level sections without getting a score or rank Improved “Restart from Checkpoint” feature: restart from any previous checkpoint (not just current or previous). NOTE: you can only restart from any previous checkpoint on new level playthroughs after updating and not on playthroughs from before this update. Fixed “phantom turns” that can appear under certain conditions in Level 6-9. Checkpoint score/rank tally is displayed at the end of the final section of Level 9 if the level has been previously completed. This helps those attempting to S-rank Level 9. Minor menu appearance and behavior fixes and tweaks Fixed potential hang that can occur when spamming the pause or quick restart button at the end of a level, just before the score tally screen Fixed visual issues on pause menu when the game scene is partially faded out Fixed incorrectly swapped X/Y butto…

- What we've been playing - 8 October 2021
Hello! Welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little bit about some of the games we've found ourselves playing over the last few days. Okay, the bad news: sincere apologies but only Donlan had time to contribute this time. The good news is a lot of other people were too busy because they're putting together a huge feature for next week. Enjoy! If you fancy catching up on some of the older editions of What We've Been Playing, here's our archive. I've spent hours with Mystic Pillars, and I've held off writing it up so far because I'm still struggling to put into words exactly what you do. This puzzle game is an ingenious spin on Mancala, a game that I absolutely adore, but it takes the risky approach of building its play around numbers, and I've always found numbers extremely daunting in puzzle games. - The 35 best ultrawide games on PC - 18 November 2020
Ultrawide gaming monitors are the kind of hardware that might seem too excessive, maybe even a bit too gamer to bother with for playing games on PC, especially when their demanding resolutions often require powerful graphics cards to make the most of them. Once you try one, though, there’s no going back. I’ve been a big fan of ultrawide gaming monitors for years now, mostly because supported PC games just look fantastic on them. And that’s why I’ve put together this list of the best ultrawide games on PC – to show you exactly what they look like in the flesh, complete with GIFs and photos of them running on an ultrawide monitor so you can see them in motion with your own peepers. - The best rhythm games on PC 2023 - 28 July 2020
Looking for the best rhythm games on PC? There are few things in life better than music, so obviously there are even fewer things in life better than music and rhythm games. Music evokes more emotional responses than any other and usually does so within a few short minutes. Games can make us feel things over time, but music is often much more immediate. With that in mind, we've put together a list of the best rhythm games around, that are guaranteed to stay with you long after the last note plays. From 2D indie games with a solid beat to lightsaber-wielding VR games , our list of the best rhythm games spans all genres. Some can teach your how to play a particular instrument, while others allow you to repurpose your own music library. We should also mention that Tetris Effect was considered for the list but arguably doesn't make rhythm its focus, so it misses out. In any case, you really…

Google have now made their cloud gaming service, Stadia, completely free to anyone who has a Gmail account. It’s basically a free trial that gives you full access to nine games, which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. (more…)

- Have You Played Thumper? - 17 January 2020
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Thumper leaves no room for anything but itself. - The 32 best PC games that demand to be played in ultrawide - 19 December 2019
There’s an old saying in gaming monitor circles that once you’ve gone ultrawide, there’s no going back. Indeed, having had the vast Samsung CRG9 hogging my desk for a bit last month, I’m inclined to agree. But what do games actually look like on a screen this wide? It’s one thing looking at lovely wallpapers, but another thing entirely to have a game occupy your entire field of vision. To find out, and more importantly show you , I’ve rounded up all the very best ultrawide PC games, complete with pictures of what they actually look like in the flesh, plus oodles of lovely GIFs so you can see how it works in action. If you thought playing Red Dead Redemption 2 in 5120×1440 was impressive, you ain’t seen nothing yet. (more…)
