- I apologize for not having Dragon Leaf yet - 31 August 2026
It's getting done, but my PC for some reason is having issues now saving anything to Dimensional Gates. I already was having issues before with it not able to save unless I only added a few things. But now it won't allow me to do anything and save it without crashing and losing everything. This has to be my PC and not the engine, but I am not sure how to get around it. I can make the episodes on a new project, but I can't merge them back over to Dimensional Gates. Basically the game is so large, my PC is having trouble handling opening the files, and saving them. It takes a good 30 second to a minute just to open the files in the editor, and things are super slow. When I try to open any event, it takes just as long. I have that issue with Water's Bounty as well, but only in the common events that control the enemy AI because the event logic in there is massive. Until I can figure out ho…
- Dragon Leaf is Coming Along Nicely - 14 August 2026
The show inside of Dimensional Gates, Dragon Leaf, is getting a second season, and it's coming along nicely. But with Water's Bounty in development as well, I am super excited to work on that as well. That game is a huge amount of programming just to get the system up and running, and that's what I love to do. Figuring out how to program AI and supply and demand economy systems is what I thrive on. The second season of Dragon Leaf will be about Jenny finding dragon tree seeds, and wants to grow new dragon trees where her people cut them down so long ago. But, being such a strong medicine, and so rare to find in her area, people are trying to cut down and use her sapling she needs to protect. What does she do however when she finds out so many are sick and need that same sapling to save their loved ones? The Water's Bounty coming soon Steam page is open as of today. So please go wish lis…
- The New Game Finally has a Name - 5 August 2026
I know, it's only been 5 days, but we have a name now for Water's Bounty, and a theme song as well. I mostly did pixel art yesterday and a bit this morning, but the ship's deck is mostly done. I still have to add some filler item on the quarter deck, and add an anchor as well, but other than that, this should be the deck for a two mast ship. (There will be a auto run RPG Maker movie that plays after you pick your character, and then you end up in the town. I just haven't made that yet. But that movie will explain why you are mute. I also haven't setup night and day cycles yet, but each day will cost you 1 food and water per crew member. This will cause you to need to upgrade your ship to make longer journeys and carry more food and water.) The enemy AI as you can see in the end of this video, is coming along well. I have the second radius of blocks done and am getting ready to do the ca…
- We finally have a name for Water's Bounty - 5 August 2026
Not Allowed to Die Gaming Studios is extremely proud to announce we are working on a new game called Water's Bounty. Water's Bounty is a game I've always wanted to make. It's based off Uncharted Waters, and is a naval battle, trading economy, and JRPG all tied into one. We only started work on this project a few days ago, but have already created a whole entire enemy AI system that will play the game the same way a chess AI does. It will always make the best move against you every single time it can. We have expanded a ton of ideas on this game today, one being the expansion of cannon styles. Basic Cannons - Hit one block, two blocks from either side of the shipSpread Cannons - Hit three blocks in a row, two blocks from either side of the ship, but less damageMid-Range Cannons - Hit one block, three blocks from either side of the shipLong Range Cannons - Hit one block, four blocks from…
- Two Episodes of Dragon Leaf are Done - 4 August 2026
Even though working on the new game, I have two episodes of Dragon Leaf down. Just 7 more to go. While doing that yesterday, I was able to also add a ton to the new game as well. When you first start the game, it will ask if you want a Male or Female main character. I've added systems to check your boat where if you press the page down button, it will tell you the boat's remaining Hull, Cargo Space left, Sail Speed, and your Cannon Power. If you press Page Up, that will load up a list of every good you can trade in the game, and how much you have in your cargo for each. I've also added to the testing world map the ability to gather wood, food, and water, but each come at a price. Water and wood has a 1 in 30 chance the wild life will attack, which brings up a JRPG Battle. Hunting will gather the food, and is an instant JRPG battle. I have all of this setup, and for when your character l…
- The New Game is Already Coming Along Fast - 1 August 2026
I just thought you all might want to see the progress on the new game. This is only the first 48 hours of programming it, and even planning it out, but I have a ton already done. In this video, you will notice the enemy doesn't work yet until the player's ship gets within a one block range. That is because I have not been able to program the blocks outside of that range yet. But once done, it will know what to do from 4 block out from the player's ship, and anything outside of that range, it will guide itself to get into that range. It's a massive programming challenge to pull this off using only the events and variables, but fully possible and will run smooth and without glitches. Again, none of this is using plugins at all. In this demo, I am using a level 2 sails, so I only get 2 moves each turn. You will be able to upgrade your sails to get up to 4 moves each turn. Later in the game…
- Bad News for Expansion - 1 August 2026
Carabina unfortunately needs more switches than I have available. I've already used almost all of the 5,000 switches the engine allows. I am looking into expanding the amount of switches, but because of the size of Dimensional Gates and the two other games inside of it, I have to be super careful adding any plugins that do this as well. Because of this, I am working on a new game that uses the logic I wanted in Carabina, but instead of being a JRPG game, it's going to be a modern day version of Uncharted Waters. This new game will have ship battles that are programmed through intricate variables that allow me to program enemy AI to attack your ship. You are a pirate and can expand and upgrade your ship to fight, but also have to build a crew to fight back against the evil trading company. You can trade goods to earn gold. or attack other ships. When on land, you fight JRPG style to eith…
- New 'FF7 Weapon' like Boss - 27 July 2026
Added a ne boss. Like the Weapons in FF7, Ranoren is a powerhouse you won't want to tackle without a New Game Plus or two under your belt first. Ranoren is an ex-Grand Demon from Cerabum that became so powerful, Moria and the rest of the demons trapped him on an island in the Northwest corner of their world. Having an immense HP and being terribly strong with powerful magic and skills, Ranoren shouldn't even be messed with until you are at least level 80. Have fun.
- Added Yosei Archery Skills - 26 July 2026
Added two Archery Skills Raining Arrows - Learned by the Archer in Hayden Castle Basement Aim - Learned by an Archer at Shena, but for a price
- Adding to New Game Plus - 26 July 2026
Added New Game Plus options to make the Shadow Squad overpowered when on their own. They will still be the same when Doller meets them, but in the scenes they fight demons on their own, they will be boosted with new weapons and armor if you purchase them. I am also looking into adding more Archery Skills to Yosei as well. Just give me some time to figure out where he learns them. I want to add a few options though: Aim - More damage than a regular arrow shot, but takes much longer Blinding Arrow - Blinds an enemy hit with arrow Raining Arrows - Rains downs arrows and hits all enemies
- Reason for Updates - 24 July 2026
I've been going back and testing out and redesigning the New Game Plus a bit. When you buy Yosei's Class and save it, and if he's a Cleric as well, the images and dialog he has in the entire game changes. Instead of being a thief that is cynical, he's a cleric that is more optimistic. Yosei still doesn't trust because of his past, but he acts differently. In this as well, he isn't offended at all by being called a fairy either. The dialog in others around him also had to be changed to match his cleric class, and another hidden secret about Yosei is already exposed as well from the beginning. I also have been changing the prices of Ethical Points used in New Game Plus, and lowered a few to make it easier to grow each New Game Plus you go through. Basically, I made it cheap to save your inventory, levels, gold, and 2x Ethical Point multiplier. I then made sure that a perfect New Game Plus…
- I apologize - 30 June 2026
I am sorry that updates are taking so long, but my dog Ellis died about two weeks ago, and it's stopped my progress completely for the time being. Ellis was 14 and a half and lived a good life. It was just his time, but it's still hard to go through. I promise to bring you all more expansions to Dimensional Gates, but it might take me some time after losing him. Since it only took me 15 months from learning the engine to releasing the game, it shouldn't take me too long to get Carabina and the second season of Dragon Leaf done. I just need some time.
- Thought I would address a few things - 31 May 2026
People I know asked me why didn't I use all of the flash that they see on a lot of newer RPG Maker games. There is a really great reason for that. I tried to add some of it, like lighting I can control, or overlays that give weather and fog effects. But each of them had issues. These are plugins that make a game either lag badly, or it messes with the switch and variable logic gates. I refuse to release a game that is settling on a glitch just to make it look nicer. I would rather the story pulls the game over graphics if having better graphics forces the game to have issues. One of the things I pride myself on with Dimensional Gates is there is no lag or real issues that you get with games like these. I made sure those issues were not there and the game runs like a cartridge game. That was my priority and honestly, it should be for all Devs as well. There is a reason this game works so…
- Fixed Imminent Distress program bleed over - 30 May 2026
Fixed an old common event I was using to exit Imminent Distress and replaced. I removed the older one that was still being turned on where it was causing the fast travel on the airship to ask if you wanted to exit the game. Being that Imminent Distress is on an artificial console inside of the game, I have to makes sure none of the programs that run the games on that console bleed through into the main game. Unfortunately because I stopped using this form of exiting, I missed this one bleed through.

- I apologize!! - 20 May 2026
I am so sorry that I missed this, but the Hell Fire in the mansion in Chapter 3 was setup to use the wrong one. This most likely has made the game completely impossible to play past that part, and that is on me alone. It took me 15 months to put this giant game together, and I had to test it many times over and over again as well. I must have missed this on the last run through when I boosted the enemies fought later and this Hell Fire one was tied into that. Again, there is no excuse for releasing the game like this, so I apologize for the mistake and take full responsibility as well. Good news however. Imminent Distress is being tested now and will release on May 27th alongside a Not Allowed to Die Gaming Studios Sale. To apologize more, I will be opening the backdoor to the airship for everyone to be able to use once Imminent Distress releases. This will allow all players a backdoor…
