- Summer Update - 31 August 2026
It's been two months since last update. But I've been busy even if I fell a bit behind on writing. 283 tasks completed across the two months, a good chunk of that was a big change I'd been putting off for a while. The Big Update: reworking the scoring systemThe biggest thing that happened this summer was ripping out Positioning and Rebound and replacing them with the new Flow-Matic meter (more later) and predictable opponent scoring.• Removed Positioning entirely• Implemented a new defender stat split system (Block/Steal/Points)• Designed and implemented the Flow-Matic meter, a new mechanic built directly into the Match screen• Redesigned the Match screen, and did some juice work while I was at it (animation + SFX mostly)Cards & tactics• Reworked a bunch of cards to work with the new Flow system• Added new card effects mostly related to the Flow system and the now visible defender scorin…
- June Update - 28 June 2026
This is my favorite time of the month writing these devlogs. Not because I love writing or putting in together in general but because this is the only time I really allow myself to look back and see what I've been up to in the game development. Since I'm doing this game solo I try to have a fairly simple system of working. I use the Things app for tasks and I break features into small tasks and aim for not working on more than 2-3 at a time. Once a task is done I complete it in the app. Then when it comes to writing these devlogs I basically just sit down and go over the tasks completed this month. This month I completed 249 tasks. Of course it can be hard to compare months since tasks can be different in size and scope even if I try to have them "small". However, compared to May this month was great but May only had 128 tasks so I'm really happy about that. Anyway, here's the gist of J…
- May Update - 1 June 2026
What I've been up to this past monthIt's been a busy one! I've been pushing hard across pretty much every part of the game at the same time. Art, code, design, and getting the word out.On the art side I've been grinding out pixel art — first version of all team logos, card illustrations, and character art including a new NPC and a kid you can trade cards with. Also updated the capsule art to feature characters from the game.Content-wise I added and balanced a bunch of new cards and coach mechanics.New boss-coach abilities include:Your opponent gets a point for every card you play.A limit to your draw power every quarter.A huge boost to a random defender in Q1 and Q3.Also worked on the tactics system. Tactics are semi-consumable power ups for the matches.Biggest new features was a Shootout mode (with actual rim detection and rewards) which is also available straight from the main menu to…
- April Update - 27 April 2026
April was a big month. A lot of systems that had been roughed in got properly finished, lots of bug fixes and overall polish.April MilestonesI had three big milestones set for myself this month (and managed to finish these although there is both more content and polish work left):A basic meeting/event scene where the player experiences the story and can choose from different options to progress in the run. A new feature. To have tactics be unlockable by using the teams funds in the Market scene. Before all the tactics were just available in matches which was very overpowered and was only for testing. To create and implement "boss coaches". The last team the player encounters in each chapter is a boss coach that has a special ability. A new feature.Other stuff Card Keyword TooltipsHovering over a card now shows a tooltip explaining what keywords like Bench, One Shot, Persist, and Unplayabl…
- First update - 29 March 2026
I'm just going to be myself here. I've never done this before. I don't know what I'm doing. But I am making this game and it's going well. Total development time so far is roughly 26 months but I do have a full job and three kids so that accounts for the not so swift pace. However, the game is coming along. Lots of new stuff added and polished the last few weeks and I can definitely see big strides in the development as the project matures. I somehow thought that as the project got bigger the development would slow down but I feel like it's more like all the puzzles are finally starting to come together. Here are some key highlights what's in the game right now: — 55/90 Cards — 83/150 player illustrations — 27 Teams created — 5 Team illustrations — 7/50 Gear / Items — 26 Match-ups against other teams — Market where you can buy packs of cards and trade with an NPC — Menu with basic setti…
