- Update 2.2: Planes, Sidegrades and Steam Workshop - 18 September 2026
Version 2 is live! It adds a lot of new things to the game and it changes the progression a bit.In this post I'll do a summary of the changes from the previous 1.4.4 main version to the current 2.2.1 that's going live.New FeaturesMore AircraftThere are now 3 aircraft in the base game. The Ultralight is the plane you start the game with. It's light and maneuverable, but it can't go too fast and carry heavy loads. The classic aircraft from the old versions is now the CB-12. It's a good all-rounder.The Twin Bob is a powerful heavyweight that can gain high speed and carry heavy load. It's mass makes it a bit harder to control.Mods and Steam WorkshopCustom aircraft can now be added to the game either locally or through Steam Workshop. The modding system doesn't require any scripting.Shop and GarageThere's now a shop and garage where aircraft, skins and sidegrades can be purchased and managed. As…
- hotfix 2.2.1 - tweak Twin Bob lift - 17 September 2026
A misconfiguration of the Twin Bob was making it have way too much lift and almost no induced wing drag, causing it to be extremely floaty and very difficult to slow down for landings. This update mitigates that.
- Notes on the upcoming 2.2.0 update - 17 September 2026
Version 2.2.0 is now up on the pre-release branch and will soon take over the main version.Steam Achievement ChangesSteam Achievements are already updated. There are 5 new achievements for the new Shop and Garage mechanics. They are not be doable in 1.4.43 achievements related to the scrapped upgrades system have been removed.New Save LocationOld saves will not appear when starting 2.2.0 after updating from 1.4.4Update 2.1.6 introduced cross-platform Steam cloud saves. Part of implementing them required moving the saves folder. When 2.2.0 goes live, saves from 1.4.4 will have to be copied to the new folder. A guide on the topic will be posted before release.Changes in 2.2.0 from 2.1.8The update notes for 2.2.0 will mention all of the changes compared to 1.4.4Here are the changes for the current version specifically:Landing without fuel now gives a free repair.Water platform lights now tu…
- 2.1.8 pre-release: Spin in one spot and finalizing the suspension - 14 September 2026
This minor update introduces some gameplay improvements:While stopped in place, the aircraft will spin around when turning.Built-in aircraft performance and suspension have been tweaked. The aircraft will now stop when close to fully stopping. There are also new trees, buildings, and 2 OSTs have been added: "greenshade" and "crater of life"
- 2.1.7 pre-release: Sidegrades - 11 September 2026
This update adds a new performance upgrade system that allows for items to be bought from the shop and then enabled or disabled in the garage.Pre-release completeThis is the last planned version in this pre-release cycle. I'm very thankful to everyone that played these rough versions and gave their feedback and opinions, it was of tremendous help! The next version will focus on improving the suspension, gameplay balancing and updating achievements. It will likely be the full release, taking the place of 1.4.4Thank you!
- 2.1.6 pre-release: cross-platform cloud saves - 9 September 2026
A small update that moves the save folder from:%appdata%\\Godot\\app_userdata\\Bush 1022\\saves_v2 on Windows~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Bush 1022/saves_v2 on Linuxto the "saves" folder in the game's install directory. You can copy your old saves there and they should work with Steam Cloud Saves across platforms. The game should now be able to sync saves between a Steam Deck and a Windows PC.
- 2.1.5 pre-release: HOTAS groundworks and throttle axis - 8 September 2026
This update mostly adds some changes to the controls.Thumbsticks are no longer used for menu navigation. This is done because some HOTAS controls use the same axes and would make the game unplayable with these devices. The left thumbstick can no longer be used to navigate menu buttons. The right thumbstick been replaced by X and Y for scrolling.Settings to invert look directions for controllers have been removed. There are now binds to look up, down, left and right. They now apply to both the chase and free cameras. An option to use axis throttle has been added. When enabled, the throttle up and throttle down binds should be set by moving the HOTAS throttle lever up from the middle and down from the middle respectively.Problems with HOTASWhile this update should make the game possible to play on HOTAS, there are still some open issues:Most notably, the glyphs will remain the ones for xbox…
- 2.1.4 pre-release: Damage System - 4 September 2026
A common problem in older versions of Bush 1022 were crashes that felt unfair, that's why the old system was completely scrapped for v2. This update brings in a new system, where damage is dependent on the severity of an impact. If you accumulate too much damage, the aircraft gets totaled. In this video I do a brief demonstration with a hard landing.Other ChangesSuspension physics tweaks.Configuration tweaks for all built-in aircraft.New Twin Bob engine sounds.Fixed lights and collisions for the Classic aircraft.
- 2.1.3 pre-release: Twin Bob and Classic skins - 1 September 2026
This update adds a few skins to the built-in aircraft. It's far from final, I'll add more skins in the coming updates, this is just a starting base.
- 2.1.2 pre-release: Shop and Garage - 30 August 2026
Modded aircraft and skins now fit into the core gameplay by being available for purchase at checkpoints and collectible in the garage. This is the final planned modding addition in the pre-release update cycle.IdentitiesThis part is important for modders.Aircraft identityThe game can now keep track of owned aircraft and skins. It can do that based on data that should be unique for each entity. For an aircraft, the game uses 3 things to keep track of it's identity:Name of the aircraftName of the creatorRepository Origin (is it a local mod, or is it from the Steam Workshop)Any changes to the aircraft or creator fields in the config will lead to the player losing the aircraft. Skin identitySkins are tracked through their index in the "extra_skins" array in the config. Changing the order of the array will lead to the player owning a different skin, based on what was at that slot when it was p…
- 2.1.1 pre-release: Workshop menu improvements - 24 August 2026
This is a small update that improves the Workshop upload flow in the "Mod Menu"Creating a new item no longer requires pressing 2 buttons. Now, you just have to write down the name of the mod, select its folder and press the "Create New Item" button. This will make a new Workshop item with the given title and contents. There's also a new option to update an existing upload. This is done by selecting the mod from the dropdown and pressing the "Update Existing" button. This will change the title to the one given and will change the contents of the mod to whatever's in the selected folder.
- 2.1.0 pre-release: Steam Workshop, Skins and Sounds - 22 August 2026
Well, the initial Steam Workshop support is finally here! A bit clunky at the moment though, this version is mostly intended to catch internal bugs and get feedback from modders before expanding and scaling.I will also update the modding guide to reflect the new changes within the next day.Video SummaryI've made this 5 minute time-stamped video with a summary of how to upload to the Workshop, along with briefly going over the configs for skins and sounds.More detailsWorkshop features right nowThe game currently supports uploading and loading subscribed items. There is no feature to edit a mod yet, but it's coming in the next version. The Workshop uploader builds on the local mod loader by using the same folder system. Basically, the same folders you add to mods can then be uploaded to the workshop.Custom Skins and SoundsModded aircraft can now have custom skins and sounds. I missed some…
- 2.0.1 pre-release: mod system improvements - 12 August 2026
This is a small update based on the feedback I got for the mod system yesterday. I'm very thankful for everyone that tried it out!ChangesRemoved performance upgrade and difficulty logic. Aircraft now have the same performance on all difficulty levels. The example aircraft have been re-tuned to reflect that.Suspension movement is now based on its raycast reference scale in the model. The "suspension_max_travel" property has been removed from the config.Example mod aircraft have improved suspension tuning too.Added "spawn_height" and "drag_multiplier" properties.Wheels can now have underscores in their names. The "hitbox" prefix can now also be used to signify a collision shape. It has the same effect as the "-convcolonly" suffix.Shorter suspension is no longer sticky and behaving strangely.Thank you!
- 2.0.0 pre-release: Aircraft mods! - 10 August 2026
The mod loader is ready and is available on the "pre-release" branch of the game. The goal of this version is to get feedback from modders, find bugs and improve the system as I keep adding more features for the final release.Modding resourcesThere are 4 things to help with modding:I'll upload a brief cheat sheet style guide in the Steam Community hub. This 45 minute video goes through the whole process of making a mod from scratch. It has time stamps and it can be used as a reference if parts of the guide fall short. There are 3 example mod aircraft in the game install directory. They're in glb format and can easily be opened in Blender and tinkered with.Feel free to make posts or contact me, any questions are welcome. I'll be available on Discord for voice calls.I'll make more resources as I keep growing the system. The state of the gameIt's important to note that the game is a bit broke…
- Devlog: no-script modding and Workshop timelines - 1 August 2026
Focus on simplicity and accessibilityThe modding system is close to complete. This video showcases 3 models with varying performance that will be later used as examples for config setups. So far, I was able to make everything work solely with glb exports from Blender and some configs. I'll make a detailed tutorial once everything is ready. There is no scripting support for more complex mods. The current focus is on the simplicity and accessibility of only needing a program like Blender and not having to do any coding. This may change in the future as per modder needs, but scripting will likely remain a completely avoidable part of modding the game.Steam Workshop and pre-release plansI expect to have a new version working with Steam Workshop on the pre-release branch by mid August. If you see Steam Workshop content showing up for the game, keep in mind that you'll need to change the game v…
- hotfix 1.4.4 - windowed mode - 4 July 2026
A small update, adding a checkbox for running the game in windowed mode.
- Update 1.4.3 - Wind & Performance Improvements - 3 July 2026
This update improves wind consistency throughout the game and should give a considerable boost for low spec machines.Performance improvementsThere are now shadow settings. Make sure to set the Shadow Mode to Performance for better FPS.Ground textures have been tweaked and will look different.A bunch of small internal tweaks that shouldn't make the game different.WindThe turbulence algorithm has been changed and it now feels a little different. The wind sock model has been updated. The wind sock now also reacts to turbulence. The wind sock now correctly works on aircraft carriers.Wind Direction on the world map now reflects the direction the wind is coming from.Other improvements and known issuesAdded the location and seed to the world map.The game may sometimes very briefly freeze when turning on landing lights. This is an old problem that I still can't consistently reproduce.
- Stupid Landing Challenge - 2 July 2026
What's the weirdest landing you can do in this game (or the demo)?Share pictures, videos, stories, doesn't matter.
- 1.4.3 Pre-release: performance improvements - 1 July 2026
Some players on low-spec machines mentioned a performance drop after the last update. I have already done some tweaks that should significantly improve FPS, but the version is not ready for a full release yet.I have opened a new "pre-release" branch that currently has a lower spec version of the game for those who need it. To play it:Right click Bush 1022 in your librarySelect PropertiesGo to Game Versions and BetasPick pre-releaseThank you!
- Steam Workshop and more aircraft coming soon! - 27 June 2026
I've started working on the next major version of Bush 1022. I want to add multiple features that won't be backwards compatible in terms of save files, therefore the development time will be longer and there will be more additions at once than in my regular updates.I'll be making frequent devlogs with my progress.Planned New FeaturesSteam Workshop SupportBack in February, user ViceForce posted a model of an aircraft they made, asking "Can we get this bad boy in the air?"Well, it's not in the air yet, but it's almost there. I'm currently working on making a system to easily mod the game and add whatever bush planes you like.Mission System and Travel List OverhaulBesides the deliveries and the corona challenges, there will be a new mission system for more abstract and random things to do.Grindy goals, like doing 40 deliveries, will be removed from the Travel List and Steam Achievements, i…
