• September Update - 6 September 2026

  Progress is still on-going albeit a bit more slowly than ideal because of some big life changes: an international move and a new job! I am still deeply committed to finishing Keepers of Umbrasil but progress will be limited to the evenings and weekends. This does shift out the launch date a bit but hopefully not by too much. There is about 4 months worth of work left to do:10 more Forest spirits (currently working on the 11th questline)27 more forest areas to do a final polish pass on6 more critter habitats to finalize7 more tending tasks to build4 more rooms to build in the Keeper's home It is a bit unclear to me how much a day's worth of work will be once I begin working full-time again so this estimate is likely terribly wrong.That said, I have never let this game's development be forced by deadlines and roadmaps. • Gameplay Loop: A Day in the Life of a Keeper - 21 April 2026

  I wanted to describe the day to day loop in a bit more detail. Hopefully, this helps give a feel for what it's like to play the game. Keeper's GoalThe player is the Keeper of the Sanctuary. The keeper's main goal in the game is to rebuild the sanctuary. Of course that means buildings to construct, but more importantly, it means bringing the Forest Spirits back to the Sanctuary. • Forest Spirit Pipeline & Previous Devlogs - 21 April 2026

  I am currently working on our eighth forest spirit and wanted to post to Steam a bit more about the process involved in making a forest spirit in the game. Creatures are the most complex content in the game as they are carrying the story and have the most complicated art needs. A summary of the pipeline is identity --> story/personality --> sprite --> portrait --> token --> quests --> memories --> furniture --> dialogue --> animations --> bark.
