- v1.2.3 — Linux launch fixes for Wayland and NVIDIA - 18 May 2026
Linux players: this build fixes two issues that prevented TideWane from launching on modern Linux desktops. On native Wayland sessions (Hyprland, GNOME Wayland, KDE Plasma Wayland, Sway, etc.), the game would crash on startup with a GTK initialization error from the in-game WebView. On NVIDIA GPUs, the game window would render fully black even though audio played — the WebView's GPU compositor wasn't drawing to the surface. Both are now handled by a small launcher script that ships with the build. No action needed beyond installing the update. Still required on Linux: webkit2gtk-4.1 must be installed at the OS level (e.g. sudo pacman -S webkit2gtk-4.1 on Arch, sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 on Ubuntu 24.04+). Windows and macOS builds are unchanged in this update.
- v1.2.2 — UI Scale fix for the Dive view - 29 April 2026
A small fix for a visible UI bug at non-100% UI Scale. If you'd raised UI Scale to 110% or 120% in Settings → Interface, the Dive view was rendering larger than the window — clipping the depth meter, ability cooldowns, and powerup icons off the right and bottom edges. Lowering it to 80% or 90% had the opposite issue: the dive canvas was rendering smaller than the window, leaving empty letterbox bands on the right and bottom. This update fixes that. At every UI Scale (80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120%), the Dive view now fills the window exactly — HUD elements stay on-screen, the background fills edge to edge. What changed Dive canvas — sized correctly at every UI Scale. No more clipped HUD or letterboxed background. Auto-Dive panel drag — same root cause; the drag clamp now respects the visible window edge instead of the unzoomed layout viewport, so you can reach the right/bottom edge at 100%…
- A free demo is coming! - 27 April 2026
What you'll be able to play The Shallows — all 5 milestone bosses, full fish roster The full PSI Tree — 108 nodes, 8 branches One Ascension prestige layer Artifact Forge, Zone Shop, Bestiary A complete first-zone arc Roughly 30-45 minutes of play. Demo saves stay independent of the full game by design — the early-game economy curves differ enough that mixing them would break pacing. When? Once the demo build clears Steam, a Download Demo button will appear directly below the buy button on this store page. Wishlist if you want a notification the moment it goes live. Why? A few players asked publicly for a way to try the game before committing. Fair ask. The demo exists because of that conversation — and feedback through it goes straight into the patch queue.
- v1.2.1 — Privacy panel + opt-out telemetry - 27 April 2026
Privacy panel A new Privacy section in Settings, plus a first-launch disclosure strip on the title screen. Anonymous progression telemetry — opt-out, with a Delete My Data button that wipes everything tied to your install. Collected Which milestones you reach (first dive, first boss kill, first zone clear) and when Session start/end timestamps Game version + OS family NOT collected No Steam ID, no IP address, no save contents, no purchase data, no chat Opt out Settings → Privacy → toggle off. Effect is immediate. The Delete My Data button erases everything already uploaded. Full policy at goneidle.com/privacy. Why After two weeks of patches I still couldn't answer basic questions about where players drop off. This adds the smallest possible signal — milestones and session length — to inform what gets fixed next. No engagement metrics, no monetization data, no per-player tracking. Heads…
- v1.2.0 — Transparent Damage (Combat Stats panel + 4 fixes) - 22 April 2026
This update bundles a polish pass you've been asking for — you can now see every multiplier that built your drill damage — with four bug fixes from playtester feedback. No new zones yet, but a lot of things that were broken or opaque are now fixed and visible. NEW — Combat Stats panel Settings → STATS now opens a live readout of every stat feeding your damage: base, drill-tree multiplier, flat bonuses from artifacts / zone shops / Void Power, and the final number. A worked-example footer shows the formula evaluated at your current loadout in monospace — so when you buy a node, you can watch exactly which number changed. The damage formula itself has been restructured under the hood. Your drill-tree nodes now stack multiplicatively (as they were described); flat bonuses from artifacts and zone shops stack additively. If your post-update damage looks different, this is why — and the panel…
- v1.2.0 — Transparent Damage + 5 Playtester Fixes - 22 April 2026
What's New Combat Stats panel — Settings → STATS now shows every multiplier feeding your damage, with a live worked-example in monospace. The damage formula was restructured; drill-tree nodes stack multiplicatively, artifact/zone-shop/Void "Power" bonuses stack additively. Bug Fixes Event achievements count now — Event Horizon / Event Hunter / Storm Chaser / Tempest Rider are reachable. Ascension achievements backfill — First Ascension / Ascending / Transcendent / etc. now track lifetime ascensions. If you've already earned them across Transcendences, they fire on load. Deep Dive gate tightened — Depth Sense no longer lets you skip into zones whose final boss you haven't beaten. Heart of the Ocean is obtainable — Unlocks on your first full Transcendence. Previously-transcended saves get it on load. Transcend can't be spam-clicked — The button properly locks during the 2-second overlay.…
- v1.1.2 — macOS & Linux launch fix, stat tracking fixes - 20 April 2026
macOS & Linux now launch properly If you were on macOS or Linux and saw a blank page or what looked like a GitHub repo instead of the game — sorry! Your game will download this update and launch correctly now. Stat tracking fixes Best Combo on the Stats screen now actually tracks your peak. Previously it only recorded the combo value at the moment you surfaced — which was usually 0 after combo decay, so the number almost never grew. Fish Killed count no longer silently undercounts. Special / transformed enemies used to get dropped from the total; they now count. "Species Documented" milestones still only credit real bestiary entries. PSI, Drift, and Salvage will no longer be double-credited on dives that ended from O2 depletion. The dive-complete screen's DIVE AGAIN / RETURN TO BASE buttons were re-applying the same rewards a second time. Under the hood Save migration runs automatically…
- Steam Achievements Hot-Fix - 19 April 2026
v1.1.1 — Achievement Sync Fix Achievements have been silently failing to register with Steam since launch. The game was sending the wrong API names, so every unlock was dropped on Steam's side. Fixed. What this means for you Any achievement you earn from now on will pop on Steam normally. Achievements you've already earned in-game will sync retroactively the next time you launch TideWane — no action needed, nothing is lost. Under the hood The client was sending lowercase internal IDs instead of Steam's ACH_-prefixed uppercase names. Now transformed at the IPC boundary. The retroactive-sync path added in Tidal Surge fired before save data loaded, so the backfill was reading empty state. Re-gated to fire after your save is loaded. Thanks to everyone who reported this — you were right, it wasn't you.
- Tidal Surge is live — every bug you reported, fixed! - 17 April 2026
Tidal Surge (v1.1.0) is live This patch exists entirely because of the detailed bug reports you posted in the Community Hub. Every thread, every repro step, every "I got this error" — turned into a fix. Still 33% off through Apr 28. If launch-week bugs made you hesitate, they're gone. The sale hasn't ended yet. Crashes — fixed Boss Catalog no longer crashes on open. The addColorStop error that took the game to Hull Breach — root-caused and gone. Trench Horror no longer freezes at 50% HP. Phantom Guard phase transition was looping. Now fires cleanly. New: Hull Breach feedback form. If something still goes wrong, the error screen now has a "What were you doing?" textarea and a SEND TO DEV button that emails me the crash + your note directly. No copy-paste to a thread required. Broken upgrades — now working Permanence keeps the full 100% PSI at max branch (was capped at 80%, contradicting…
