• New Program Release for Hi-Score Recorder - 26 September 2022

  Just letting everyone know that I am releasing a little program on 9/28 called "Hi-Score Recorder". It basically is a simple program that let's you document your high scores for games. It will be 1.99 USD, for Windows, and will be an early release. I want a little bit of time for feedback and bug fixing before I release it. If you are interested you can pick it up in two days. • Autofill Implemented - 3 January 2020

  TAB autofill is now implemented and works for any files and folders in your current directory. Also it will only search for matches when at least one character is in input and replace it if a match is found and always with the first match. So for example, if this is in your directory.. COS System sadjhhfw.bin cdioisa.bin if your input is "del c" tab will replace it with "del cos" because it was the first match. If your input is "del cd" it will replace it with "del cdioisa.bin". It won't assume whether you are looking for a file or folder. Also remember it looks for exact matches. I guess I should of did this a long time ago. I apologize for that. So for those who were put off from RH for lacking an autofill option, I hope you give it another shot.

• Retro Golf SandBox - 12 December 2019

  Hello everyone. I have been working on a new project called Retro Golf Sandbox. It is a love letter to the old bird's eye view golf games from my childhood. It is fully customizable. You can make your own holes, courses and tours. I decided to take the risk and finish Retro Hacker after a failed Kickstarter but unfortunately I don't think I will be able to do the same with RGS. • Files Missing - 25 September 2018

  I was made aware that the installation had some files missing for some missions. For some reason my compiler build package actually didn't have those files but my backup did so I updated RH with the backup files. Everything should be fine now onece your game autoupdates. Sorry for the inconvenience.

• Achievement support! - 19 August 2018

  After some headaches achievement support has been added! Five achievements in all for right now. More may be added in the future. Happy hunting!

• Patch 1.01 - 16 August 2018

  A few quick fixes. - Fixed typo in tutorial saying you should type "dir emails" to enter emails folder It now correctly says "cd emails" - Fixed dir and dir command not scrolling between multiple pages correctly. Keep in mind you shouldn't let your folders get so big that they even need to scroll. Use your delete command. =)

  The game is complete! Thank you for all the support. Fixes - Fixed how menu didn't work properly in money transfer missions. - Fixed some minor typos New Content - 3 more story missions which complete the story.

  Fixes - Fixed the police department mission's menu options Additions - 2 new story missions bringing the total to 10 After 2 more updates RH will be in beta status and 3 more story missions are planned. Happy hacking!

• Update .75 released! - 15 July 2018

  Additions - A new network side mission with a security level of 4. You will need very good upgrades to do these. - Numpad can now be used for inputting numbers and decimal. Plans For now we are done with side missions. There may or may not be more that we add in the future. For now the focus will be on finishing up the main story. We plan on adding 6 more story missions with 2 per update. Retro Hacker is nearing completion and we are excited. Once the story missions are done the game will move to beta status(ver 1.0!) and after that we will spend a few weeks fixing any ongoing bugs and making changes to better the experience before releasing.   Fixes - fixed deleteall.exe not deleting files properly Additions - 2 new side missions have been added bringing the total to 12 - connect to a government database and change the payroll of 3 people and connect to a computer and download then upload all of their important data files. You will need good upgrades for the second new mission.

• Version .67 Released - 10 June 2018

  Changes and fixes - All side missions now give an arbitrary mission number. This is to keep a consistent feel to the missions. - You must type deleteall.exe instead of deleteall now to use the program Additions - a new side mission that tasks you with destroying a computer and has a security level of 3. Make sure you at least have the betterproxy program before you attempt - a brand new story mission with an interesting premise. Remember you must complete the story mission before it again to unlock it.

  Fixes - filler.txt no longer appears in folders Additions - a new program called deleteall.exe. It allows you to delete all files in a folder or delete only files with a wildcard. Use carefully. Make sure to read the readme file provided with it in the programs folder. - a new side mission. Connect to the social security database and make someone no longer alive. This mission has a scurity level of 3. - a new story mission with a brand new server to connect to. Thank you for the support from everyone. Remember that I am always open to new ideas. • Update .60 Infinite Missions! - 4 May 2018

  You asked for it. Retro Hacker now has infinite side missions. After completing the first 10 of any type of mission RH will create a new random mission. Network missions is the only exception. Completing all 10 of network missions will reset them and allow you to replay them. Changes and Additions - Inifinite side missions - Prices for hardware and some software have been increased to improve balance. - You can now abort a crack, download or upload in progress by pressing 'a' - Hardcore mode has been added. By typing "hardcore" on the user computer you can turn hardcore mode on. Once it is on you cannot turn it off. Getting a game over screen will result in your save game being erased with hardcore on. Unforeseen bugs can potentially give you a game over screen unfairly so use at your own risk!

  Fixes - Mission 61 and 67 is fixed but you need to uninstall and reinstall retro hacker to get them working. Your save game should be just fine. - Fixed how computers did not have unique passwords. All computers with random password should now have a new unique password for every game load Additions - There are now 10 new side missions with each having there own unique network. Infiltrate a network, download a secret file and upload it to another comp - There is a new unique scripted story mission. You must redo mission 4 if you already did it to unlock it. Future update - I plan on implementing infintie side missions for the next update. The plan is to keep the 10 manually edited side missions of each type but when you complete them, the game will create a random mission for you with its own unique ips, files etc. The only exception is side missions with networks.   I plan to release the following in the next update - a new kind of side mission with 10 of them - adding networks with ports for ips - adding a story mission that introduces the player to how ports work - adding a netmap program that allows you to see the network you are in and all the ports that forward to each computer and also the local ips for each computer in the network - adding a switch command that allows you to switch between computers in a network provided you know the local ip infinite side missions have been brought up more than once and I am open to doing that. Please let me know in the forums if you would rather infinite missions instead of manually created side missions or both.
